Re: [Koha] Importing items problem
by Željko Puškarić 04 Dec '13

04 Dec '13

Hi everyone, Helped by your suggestions i managed to import bibliographic records in a way that created items too. What worked for me was copying whole field 995 to field 952. Items got created then. Interestingly it did not work with field 952 only, both 952 and 995 had to be present in the record. @ Fabio Tiana: Importing records didn't connect biblio records to authorities, you mentioned writing about the way you managed to get it connected but I must have missed it. P.S. My Koha version is 3.12.05

problem installing Koha on ubuntu virtualbox
by Zac Craven 04 Dec '13

04 Dec '13

Hello I am trying to install Koha following these instructions: http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_on_ubuntu_-_packages My host machine is Windows 8, and Ubuntu is running on it inside Oracle Virtualbox. I have no idea what to input as the DOMAIN in /etc/koha/koha-sites.conf I also don't know what domain to put in /etc/hosts I have done this, as a guess: ** /etc/hosts ** 127.0.0.1 locahost 127.0.1.1 ubuntuhost 127.0.0.1 library.ubuntuhost 127.0.0.1 library-intra.ubuntuhost ** /etc/koha/koha-sites.conf ** DOMAIN="" Now, when I input "192.168.1.68" or "ubuntuhost" in the browser on my windows PC, I get the "it works" message from apache on ubuntu. But if I input "library.ubuntuhost" or "library.ubuntuhost:80" then it times out. I can ping "library.ubuntuhost" from ubuntu command prompt but not from the windows host machine. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks Zac Craven

Experiences with migrating from Aleph to Koha?
by Magnus Enger 30 Nov '13

30 Nov '13

Dear Community! I'm writing on behalf of a library that currently uses Aleph, and is a bit curious about Koha. They want to know if there are any libraries that have made the switch, and what the experience was like. I guess this falls into two categories: - How smooth was the migration? - How big was the leap, in terms of functionality, features etc They would also be interested in which modules of Aleph were used before the change. If you answer me on or off the list I will forward the answers to the library in question, or put you in touch with them for further communication. Best regards, Magnus Enger libriotech.no

Re: [Koha] Koha live dvd 3.14.00
by COURYHOUSE＠aol.com 29 Nov '13

LIVE DVD is also good for small library singe user applications too. I have recommenced it to several Archives that are internal to an organization. Keep up the good work! Ed Sharpe archivist for SMECC In a message dated 11/28/2013 7:36:52 A.M. Mountain Standard Time, nguyenquocuy_1102(a)yahoo.com writes: So finally, my first live DVD has been released. I asked some people about live dvd, and i agree about using live DVD for testing and for education, not for production (the biggest reason, i think, is security). So i left everything as default, no more modification and no more feature. http://sourceforge.net/projects/koha-latest/ If anyone has any ideas or requires, please tell me. And from now, i will make an live dvd for each Koha version 3.14.x. Best regards!
