Zebra Indexing and stop words
by library 27 Mar '14

27 Mar '14

Hi y'all Can someone confirm for me, we can have Zebra Indexing OR Stop Words. I tried to set stopwords and none of the OPAC search functions would work, so I had to re-set the Zebra Index to use. I am using 3.8.2 but hoping to upgrade to 3.14 soon. Regards Ann Murphy Librarian Katikati College Beach Road, Katikati, 3129 New Zealand 0064 7 5492647 amurphy(a)katikaticollege.school.nz

Permissions questions
by Heather Braum (NEKLS) 26 Mar '14

26 Mar '14

I'm doing an audit of the permissions of our staff accounts in our system, and have several questions about certain permissions. I have already looked at the manual section on permissions and the granular section, too, but it didn't give enough information ( http://manual.koha-community.org/3.14/en/patronpermissions.html#patronperms… ) Is there any other online documentation that explains each permission and what it turns/off or what it may depend upon? Here's the permissions I have questions about: *circulate* *group* 1. circulate_remaining_permissions vs the other granular circulate permissions -- what's the difference? 2. manage_courses/put_coursereserves/remove_coursereserves -- should these even be in *circulate? *I filed a bug about these ( http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=11981) *catalogue vs staffaccess* 1. what's the difference between the *catalogue* permission and the *staffaccess* permission? *reserveforothers group* 1. edit_holds: how does one edit holds? What's this permission mean? 2. place_holds vs add_holds: what's the difference between these two permissions? 3. modify_holds_priority vs. reorder_holds -- what's the difference between these two permissions? *edit_catalogue/tools groups * 1. edit_catalogue/batch_edit_items vs tools/batch_edit_items -- what's the difference between the two permissions? Thanks! Permission to delete cover image?
by Nicole Engard 26 Mar '14

26 Mar '14

Is there any one permission that controls who can delete a cover image? If you have permission to upload them you can delete them? or is there no permission on there at all and can everyone delete covers? Just checking for documentation purposes. Thanks Nicole

Report Help - With Rollup
by Nicole Engard 26 Mar '14

26 Mar '14

Hi all, I need some help with a report that has With RollUp in it. I have used this before and had no problem, but for this report it keeps showing the last value 2 times at the bottom instead of 'grand total'. So here's how I started: select IFNULL(a.lib,'*GRAND TOTAL*') as location, count(s.datetime) as circs from statistics s left join items i using (itemnumber) left join borrowers p using (borrowernumber) LEFT JOIN authorised_values a ON (i.location=a.authorised_value) where s.type in ('issue','renew') and p.categorycode != 'LIBRARYUSE' and s.branch=<<Check out/renewal branch|branches>> and a.category='LOC' and s.datetime between <<Checked out or renewed between (yyyy-mm-dd)|date>> and <<and (yyyy-mm-dd)|date>> group by i.location with rollup This runs and is right, but at the end it repeats the last shelving location instead of showing 'Grand Total'. Next I tried: select if(i.location is null, '*GRAND TOTAL*', a.lib) as location, count(s.datetime) as circs from statistics s left join items i using (itemnumber) left join borrowers p using (borrowernumber) LEFT JOIN authorised_values a ON (i.location=a.authorised_value) where s.type in ('issue','renew') and p.categorycode != 'LIBRARYUSE' and s.branch='BAILEYCOVE' and a.category='LOC' and s.datetime between '2014-03-19' and '2014-03-20' group by i.location with rollup This repeated the same location over and over. So then I tried this: select ifnull(i.location, 'GRAND TOTAL') as code, a.lib as location, count(s.datetime) as circs from statistics s left join items i using (itemnumber) left join borrowers p using (borrowernumber) LEFT JOIN authorised_values a ON (i.location=a.authorised_value) where s.type in ('issue','renew') and p.categorycode != 'LIBRARYUSE' and s.branch=<<Check out/renewal branch|branches>> and a.category='LOC' and s.datetime between <<Checked out or renewed between (yyyy-mm-dd)|date>> and <<and (yyyy-mm-dd)|date>> group by i.location with rollup Which shows grand total, but still repeats the darn location name again. And this which shows only one location over and over: select case a.location when null 'grand total' else a.lib as location, count(s.datetime) as circs from statistics s left join items i using (itemnumber) left join borrowers p using (borrowernumber) LEFT JOIN authorised_values a ON (i.location=a.authorised_value) where s.type in ('issue','renew') and p.categorycode != 'LIBRARYUSE' and s.branch=<<Check out/renewal branch|branches>> and a.category='LOC' and s.datetime between <<Checked out or renewed between (yyyy-mm-dd)|date>> and <<and (yyyy-mm-dd)|date>> group by i.location with rollup I'm up for any suggestion that gets me to have the final line just have the total and not a false location name.

Error when trying to save catalogue records
by Catherine Kerrigan 26 Mar '14

26 Mar '14

Hi folks! I'm hoping someone can help me with an error I'm getting which is preventing me from amending existing catalogue records or creating new catalogue records. Whenever I try to save a record, I receive the following error: Tag "" is not a valid tag. at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Biblio.pm line 575 Checking through the community's documentation in manuals, wiki and IRC logs, I think I have tracked it down to the following lines: 575 my $authfield = 576 MARC::Field->new( $authtypedata->{auth_tag_to_report}, 577 '', '', "a" => "" . $field->subfield('a') ); However, I don't know where I go from here to fix it. We're using Koha version 3.12.03.000. Many thanks. Catherine PS we did finally get our self-loan station up and running, after much toing and froing with the vendors. Sorting conundrum
by Doug Dearden 26 Mar '14

26 Mar '14

Hello all, I have a database that has no item records, only biblios. We are using it to catalog some archival folders, and pointing to pdfs with scanned images using the 856u field. We are using the 099a field as the call number field. In Administration - System Preferences - Cataloging - Record Structure - itemcallnumber we have 099a filled in. I just changed the Koha to MARC mapping so that items - itemcallnumber maps to 099a . After doing a search the results page is sorted in Relevance order. Changing the sort order to Call Number order, either Z-A or A-Z does not produce any change. Changing the sort order to Title or Author works. How do I get the sort working using the Call Number in the 099a field? Thanks, Doug Dearden Director, IT School for Advanced Research (505)954-7220 sarweb.org

New tarballs for 3.12.12
by Chris Cormack 26 Mar '14

26 Mar '14

Hi all Unfortunately I made a typo in the updatedatabase for the 3.12.12 release. Thanks to Colin for catching it. I have uploaded new fixed tarballs, if you have already upgraded or installed 3.12.12, you will need to go to System Preferences, then to the local use tab. Then change the version syspref from 3.12112000 to 3.1212000 Sorry about that Chris
