Re: [Koha] Technical help with Frameworks
by Paul A 28 May '14

You might want to consider, as a "labour saving possibility", editing a copy of the "Fast Add Framework" (add/subtract the few fields that are [ir]relevant to your needs) rather than attacking the default framework in all its glory. In this manner, you can *probably* ignore the Koha to MARC mapping which is designed as a shortcut to the full bibliographic framework. Restrict checkout beyond current check out allowed
by Vimal Kumar V. 28 May '14

28 May '14

Dear Friends, Need a provision to block check out of books beyond current check out allowed. In the present situation library staff in circulation desk can check out books when current checkout limit over. In large libraries staff can misuse this provision. Regards, -- Vimal Kumar V. JS bookmarklet for non-Z39.50 copy-cataloging.
by Mccallum, Charles 27 May '14

27 May '14

Hi: I'm not sure how useful this will be for other folks, but I've just put up a demo of a JS bookmarklet that can make copy-cataloging in Koha easier from non-Z39.50 data sources. A demo of Koha integration is here: http://firuta.huh.harvard.edu:8080/fp-koha-demo/ and a more complete readme and checkout instructions are here: http://sourceforge.net/p/filteredpush/svn/HEAD/tree/trunk/FP-DataEntry/ This project initially targeted the museums community where the idea of "copy-cataloging" isn't as familiar: Thinking about it, there seemed to be a number of cases that were analogous. This plugin tries to be generic so that it could be used anywhere there is an authoritative source of information, and a web form that needs to be filled in. Hope this can be useful. -- Chuck McCallum

Overdue notices sent to a random patron (3.16)
by Yuval Hager 27 May '14

27 May '14

Hi, I just upgraded to Koha 3.16 using the Debian repo on Thursday. Everything went fine and was working well. On Friday, I found out that a patron received 51 emails of advanced due notices of other patrons. I confirmed this with the server mail logs, but I have no idea why this happened. I verified that this patron's email address only shows up under their record on the borrowers table. Checking the email logs, it seems that it sends a bunch of emails to a single patron, then another bunch to another (I don't know what the content is), so I'm suspecting something strange is going on. I tried running the overdue_notices.pl script with -n -v, and it just spit out a list of messages to be sent, but not the email address it would send it to. Any ideas where to begin searching to investigate this? Thanks, --yuval

Authorities localization?
by Joel Cornuz 27 May '14

27 May '14

Hello Everyone My name is Joel Cornuz, I am the IT manager for a small school in Montreal using (with success!!!) Koha for its library (15k volumes). Many thanks for this great tool that is giving us access to a world class library system!!! I asked that same question on the devel mailling list and was told I would have better chance to get help here, so here it is: Our books are a mix of French and English volumes and we would like to translate our authorities (the topical terms). The idea is that we want our students to have access to topical terms in French or in English, and access to our complete collection (French and English volumes) related to this particular topic. I know that it is possible to duplicate an authority - so one idea was to duplicate (and translate) authorities... but then I didn't find a simple way to automatically link items from the source to the duplicated authority (am I missing something there?) Or is there a way to localize existing authorities? Or is there another (different, better) way? Many thanks for your help. Joel

The easiest way is to wait for 3.16.1 where the fix should be integrated. 2014-05-27 15:46 GMT+02:00 Evan Mungai Njoroge <evan.njoroge(a)gmail.com>: > Jonathan; > A novice query on the same, > How do I apply a patch to my installation (Ubuntu 12.04 using packages)? > > > EVAN > NJOROGE *•*+254721375981 *•*+254721375981 *•*about.me/uhusiano *•* > * "Facilitating access to African digital content" * > > > > > On Tue, May 27, 2014 at 11:19 AM, Jonathan Druart < > jonathan.druart(a)biblibre.com> wrote: > >> Hello Yuval, >> >> Bug found, see the patch on bug 12315. >> The script is advanced_notices.pl, not overdue_notices.pl >> >> It is highly recommended not to use this script without the patch attached >> to the bug report. >> >> Regards, >> Jonathan >> >> >> >> 2014-05-26 15:36 GMT+02:00 Yuval Hager <yhager(a)yhager.com>: >> >> > Hi, >> > >> > I just upgraded to Koha 3.16 using the Debian repo on Thursday. >> Everything >> > went >> > fine and was working well. >> > >> > On Friday, I found out that a patron received 51 emails of advanced due >> > notices >> > of other patrons. Perl module ReadOnly::XS
by Matthew Charlesworth 27 May '14

27 May '14

Dear all, I recently upgraded to 3.16 and when I look at the Perl Modules page in About Koha I see that ReadOnly::XS is showing in red as not installed. I am running Ubuntu 3.5.0-49.generic and when I type sudo cpan install /ReadOnly::XS/ It returns Readonly::XS is up to date (1.05). But it still displays as red and not installed under Perl Modules in About Koha. Does anyone have any ideas on where I'm going wrong? Matthew Charlesworth
