by Galen Charlton 26 May '14

26 May '14

Hi, The Koha community is pleased to announce the release of version 3.16.0 of the Koha library automation system. Koha 3.16 is an enhancement and bugfix release. Changes of particular note include: * There is now the ability to use different templates for notices based on how the notice is to be sent. For example, is now possible to use different wording for email and SMS hold notifications. * Users can now unselect active facets when refining search results. * Search history can be now displayed and managed in the staff interface. * Loan checkins can now be backdated to an arbitrary date. * Holds can now be individually suspended and resumed from the OPAC. * Creating orders from staged files now offers much more flexibility. * The public reports service can now accept report parameters. * There is experimental support for Plack for development use. * The index update script can now operate as a daemon, allowing the indexes to be updated within seconds of a catalog record getting updated. There are many more enhancements, detailed in the release notes. There are also a number of improvements under the hood, particularly for internationalization. It is now possible to mark strings in the Perl source code for translation, and translation of strings in the JavaScript source code can now include placeholders. Also, a newer version of jQueryUI is now used by the staff interface. Koha can be downloaded from http://download.koha-community.org. Debian packages of Koha 3.16.0 will be available shortly. Additional details, including the release notes, can be found at http://koha-community.org/koha-3-16-0-released/ Regards, Galen -- Galen Charlton Manager of Implementation Equinox Software, Inc. / The Open Source Experts email: gmc(a)esilibrary.com direct: +1 770-709-5581 cell: +1 404-984-4366 skype: gmcharlt web: http://www.esilibrary.com/ Supporting Koha and Evergreen: http://koha-community.org & http://evergreen-ils.org

Error- 404 - The requested URL / was not found on this server.
by SATISH 26 May '14

Hi, I was using koha 3.14.00.00 (installed via packages) on Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS (GNU/Linux 3.5.0-49-generic i686) - on a Desktop System. and successfully upgraded koha to 3.16.00 yesterday (23-05-2014). After upgrade I was able to use koha staff client and opac without any problem. (while upgrading, it asked for - Rename the Apache Virtual hosts for koha Instance, the default was -"Yes", and I chose the same) But, when I try to open staff client/opac today, suddenly I get the error: 404 - The requested URL / was not found on this server. I tried clearing the cache/browsing history. then, re-started apache, it did not work. any other solutions could you recommend for understanding the problem? With Thanks Satish MV Librarian Govt. Problem with Zebra - search always turns up "No results found"
by ccie 6862 26 May '14

26 May '14

I built this system around Thanksgiving or Christmas time for our church, but I'm self employed and have been slammed with regular work. I'm trying to get back to this, and just about everything seems to work except for the search function, which always results in "No results found," and printing out the spine labels. Here is some pertinent information: Koha version:3.12.06.000 OS version ('uname -a'):Linux koha 2.6.32-220.el6.i686 #1 SMP Tue Dec 6 16:15:40 GMT 2011 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux Zebra version:Zebra 2.0.56 (C) 1994-2013, Index Data ApS Zebra is free software, covered by the GNU General Public License, and you are welcome to change it and/or distribute copies of it under certain conditions. SHA1 ID: 739e721ee59f645cb821c8d3035a12aefae423f6 Using ICU ErrorZebra server seems not to be available. Is it started? There was an option to not use or use Zebra. Given this was a fairly small library, I believe I chose not to use Zebra initially. However, after trying to find why the search function wasn't working, I believe it's because of Zebra. I've installed Zebra according to http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_3.6_on_Centos_6.2_i386#Install_and…, but when I try to start it using "zebrasrv -v all -f /etc/koha/koha-conf.xml", I see the server listening on port 9999 but not 9998. I was able to test Zebra in step 7, which seems to work just fine. The index also runs just fine without errors using "/usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl -b -a -r -v". Does this appear to be a Zebra problem? Any idea how to get zebra listening on 9998? I don't find any zebra errors in the log. Thanks

I'm posting through GMANE, which I now see appears to have checked out since the 9th, and I'm not presently subscribed to the mail list. So if you reply to my previous message I won't be able to see it. If you want to reply to my email address I should be able to see it there. I'll try to subscribe and re-post my question. JCE

Help with MARC record matching rules
by Joel Ewy 24 May '14

24 May '14

Anybody know how to properly specify matching rules for importing marc records? I take it that if the rule works, it should show a match in the appropriate column on the "Manage staged MARC records" page before importing. I don't trust my zebra indices, and it appears that the match checks are supposed to match directly between the imports and the database. That's what I want. All I get is "no_match", so I assume I've specified the matching rules incorrectly. What am I doing wrong here? Matching rule code: MatchISBN Description: Match the ISBN Required Match threshold: 100 Required Match points Match point 1 | Add match point | Remove this match point Search index: ISBN Score: 101 Matchpoint components Tag: 020 Subfields: a Offset: 0 Length: 0 Normalization rule: Required match checks Match check 1Add match check | Remove this match check Source (incoming) record check field Tag: 020 Subfields: a Offset: 0 Length: 0 Normalization rule: Target (database) record check field Tag: 020 Subfields: a Offset: 0 Length: 0 Normalization rule:

On a format of 'Framework code'
by zolot 23 May '14

23 May '14

Hi Koha-community, I have the following questions to "Koha 3.14 Manual (en)". 1) Does a Koha-term 'framework' denote the same object as a 'Field Definition Table' in CDS/ISIS ? 2) What format has a 'Framework code' in the window 'Add framework' ? Example ? (A path to this window: Home > Administration > MARC frameworks > Add framework). Wishes, Gennady
