Koha Development Opportunity : Display of images in OPAC from multiple sources

Hello everyone, My name is Melissa Clarkson and I am the Team Leader of the Library at the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants. We have been on Koha for 2 ½ years. We have started scanning book cover images that are not available from Amazon to have them available in our OPAC and also our current awareness bulletin. They display great in the bulletin, but in the OPAC it creates formatting issues and looks plain ugly. I have approached Catalyst IT in Wellington New Zealand about this issue, and they have advised that it will take 28 hours. They will work through the bug that is creating this issue. The outcome will be that we can use multiple sources to get the book covers from, including local images uploaded in to Koha. I can't justify paying for all of this given it is 28 hours, so I'm coming to the community to see if you would be interested in contributing to a joint development of this. Need to fix my bugs please!!!

Please am having various bugs in my Koha system version 3.14.01.000, they are listed below: 1. When ever I try to search using the ISBN I can't find any books can someone please help me out . 2.When I click on the drop down list of Suggested by and Managed by to check on names of staff it keeps showing me "unknown" Please I really need an urgent help on how to fix this, I have checked bugzilla but the patched given didn't fix it. 3.Why is that my fines is not calculating anymore? Please all this I need help from urgently.Thanks for your help please

MARC Framework test errors

So I managed to get round the issues I was having importing a cut down framework. I have now managed to import the attached framework by using an SQL script pointed out by Bernardo Gonzalez Kriegel. I was then able to export to XML and edit in Excel and then re-import with changes to hidden fields for a few MARC numbers so that they disaply a box. I am now running the framework test and I get teh following results: MARC bibliographic framework test Test Result itemnum The field itemnum MUST be mapped The corresponding subfield MUST be in with -1 (ignore) tab item fields ALL items fields MUST : be mapped to the same tag, and they must all be in the 10 (items) tab OK Only 1 MARC tag mapped to items OK biblioitems.itemtype defined homebranch NOT mapped the items.homebranch field MUST : be mapped to a MARC subfield, the corresponding subfield MUST have "Authorized value" set to "branches" holdingbranch NOT mapped the items.holdingbranch field MUST : be mapped to a MARC subfield, the corresponding subfield MUST have "Authorized value" set to "branches" OK at least 1 item type defined OK at least 1 library defined biblio and biblionumber The biblio.biblionumber and biblioitems.biblioitemnumber fields be mapped to a MARC subfield, OK no NULL value in frameworkcode OK all subfields for each tag are in the same tab (or ignored) OK all authority types used in the frameworks are defined TOTAL You have 5 error(s) in your MARC configuration. Please fix them before using Koha Looking at the errors it is complaining about I already have those values configured on the XML file, or at least as far as I can work out. I fully admit that the "Hidden" column seems a touch voodoo to me. I would be grateful of any thoughts as I am thinking that any items I create using this framework I have created will not function correctly. Problem Searching With ISBN and Titles.

Hi, please when I search using the book's ISBN and Tittle most times it never gives me the result showing the book details, Instead it shows search not found and the book as been keyed/stored in the Koha system. I use version 3.14.01.000, Please I need urgent help about this thanks.

Case for selecting Item types preference in Koha OPAC search module

My Library is currently implementing Koha 3.14. Library has about 9 lakh records in its database out of which about 70000 are books and around 5 lakhs are article records (analytic records). When a search is done in Koha, it retrieves mostly articles and other documents. Books are not listed at the beginning in the search results (i.e. in the first 20 results) which causes some inconvenience to users. Even in faceted navigation links shown on the left side on the search results page, books are listed only if 'Show more' link is selected. Is there any way to display book item types at the beginning in the OPAC search results? Pull-down menu like 'Libraries' in the default setup, would be great on the OPAC home page. For libraries having large collection, this will be a useful feature. Any way around would be highly appreciated. Sincerely, K. Mohankumar Trivandrum, India

Report help needed - filter by itemtype

I can't seem to get the report to filter on item type. Probably another typo somewhere. it works if I take out this line: biblioitems.itemtype=‘BK’ But I want to filter by books (and eventually other item types). Looking for more Serials Documentation help

Hello all, With the new serials module in Koha 3.14 we have a lot of questions coming in and my documentation is not thorough enough because I admit I haven't had time to really dig deep in to it. I'm wondering if I could enlist some of you to submit patches to the manual for this section and/or send me documentation in other formats that you'd like me to include in the manual. The big issues are: * The lack of the 'rollover' is very confusing to people - rollover made sense and people have been using it for ages so now the 'inner counter' is causing all kinds of questions and while I know how to fill it in to make things work (sometimes) I don't really understand it either. * This email I got: "My staff reports, and I confirmed sitting next to them, going through the steps, that the manual for the serials module is not as helpful as hoped for. In particular, it would be very helpful to have several step by step examples on how to setup a serial (a couple or three, with different publishing patterns) that could be applied to our subscriptions. For example, the manual has a section for setting up new numbering patterns, but the screen shots are blank. A concrete example with explanations on every field to fill out -- say for a pattern that is year/volume/issue would go a very long way and should address most questions. Of course, we were and are further confused by the fact that data we enter and save in the patterns isn't actually saved, but that seems to be a broader problem affecting us right now and not specific to the serials module." * The fact that you can't edit the manual history unless you have the 'manual history' box checked when creating the subscription - when before we could edit it at any time .... also confusing. So, if you understand and/or use the current serials module in 3.14 or 3.16 I'd love to hear from you with edits to the manual to help Koha users around the world.
