Patron Batch Import - Help Request.
by SATISH 05 Feb '15

05 Feb '15

Hi, Koha (3.16) has been installed from packages method on ubuntu 12.4 LTS. Now I am trying to batch import of patron with the help of CSV template given in Koha. I just did copy and paste 1 patron related information to CSV for testing. I do not have any borrowernumber information. For me only, card number is primarily required. All other mandatory fields, such as Branch Code and Category Code has been cross verified and inserted in to CSV. After upload, finally thrown with following errors. - Line 2 Critical field "surname" missing (borrowernumber: UNDEF; surname: UNDEF). 4GH13CV001 Satish 01/01/95 GECHLIB UG 01/08/2012 30/06/2016 - Line 2 Critical field "branchcode" missing (borrowernumber: UNDEF; surname: UNDEF). 4GH13CV001 Satish 01/01/95 GECHLIB UG 01/08/2012 30/06/2016 - Line 2 Critical field "categorycode" missing (borrowernumber: UNDEF; surname: UNDEF). 4GH13CV001 Satish 01/01/95 GECHLIB UG 01/08/2012 30/06/2016 - Line 2 Critical field "categorycode" missing (borrowernumber: UNDEF; surname: UNDEF). 4GH13CV001 Satish 01/01/95 GECHLIB UG 01/08/2012 30/06/2016 - Line 2 Critical field "branchcode" missing (borrowernumber: UNDEF; surname: UNDEF). 4GH13CV001 Satish 01/01/95 GECHLIB UG 01/08/2012 30/06/2016 Is all the fields in CSV file are mandatory? or partially I can fill whatever is mandated. What is the reason for getting above said error ? I believe, this is repetitive question but, I did not get solution from other answers in forum or video tutorials. Therefore posted a fresh question. Please advice to proceed further for batch import of patrons. Thank You Satish MV Librarian Govt. Eng. College, Hassan. Karnataka.

catalog search question
by Tim Skeers 05 Feb '15

05 Feb '15

Is there any way to "promote" a particular bib record so that it shows up first in a search results list? My specific example is "code of iowa." Even as a title phrase search, it comes up as no. 45 is a list of 192 results. For the average public user, it might as well not even be in the catalog. I hope that they would ask a librarian, but I'm wondering if there is some way to push it into at least the first 10 results. Unable to manage lists even as superlibrarian
by Pete Edwards 04 Feb '15

04 Feb '15

I am trying to manage some lists created by another user. I need to be able to delete some of them, rename some and then add/delete items. It seems there is no permission that will allow a superlibrarian access to public lists which seems odd. Is the only solution to directly modify the owner of the lists in the database in order to take control of them? I'm using 3.18.

Re: [Koha] Help! Can't restore database after koha update
by Gwyan Rhabyt 04 Feb '15

Just an update. I solved this one. It turned out that the mysql dump wasn't restoring to the database name that I thought it would. Prior to update the koha database was called kohadata. I decided to change the name to avoid confusion with a possible future database. I thought that mysql -uroot -p koha_paclibrary < jan11dump.sql would make sure the restored database was called koha_paclibrary, but I didn't realize that there were multiple instructions in the header of the jan11dump.sql file that also needed to be changed. Once I changed them, it was restored to koha_paclibrary like I wanted. So now the database is restored and we can see patrons and books. There are still some problems, but I hope to fix them by rebuilding the zebra files. And what message are you getting at the OPAC, the library is in maintenance mode? Also, if you do mysql -uroot -p koha_paclibrary You will be in mysql what does show tables; show you? Try select * from items limit 10; Do you get results? Re: [Koha] Migration process from ALEPH to Koha - Acquisition module
by Cristina Cortês 03 Feb '15

03 Feb '15

Hello, Regarding this matter, we are counting on in-house staff for this process. We are with some mapping doubts. ILS Aleph has the acquisition module very different from koha. At Aleph the main point is the order number and in koha that figure does not exist and the main point is the vendor. Has anyone already leaded this process? Re: [Koha] Another Library using Koha online!

Dear Stephan, congratulations indeed for your library's new website: that's gorgeous indeed! I would be especially interested in receiving updates concerning the integration of Koha with Facebook and other social networks (such as Twitter). Posting new acquisitions to a Facebook account is what I actually regularly do, manually, to announce/advertise new entries to my library's patrons. Many thanks and best regards, Giuseppe.

Another Library using Koha online!
by Witoszynskyj Stephan 02 Feb '15

02 Feb '15

Dear Koha Community, Our Koha installation is now online! We are a small Ukrainian greek-catholic parish library located in Vienna, Austria. We started using Koha about a year ago and, finally, managed to get a public server and migrated our installation to this server. At the same time we integrated our web-page into our Koha installation to provide our users a seamless user experience. The goal was to present our catalogue in a way that makes it also accessible to readers who are not used using electronic catalogues. I wish to thank everyone in the Koha community who provided help, either by answering my questions on this lists or by creating all those amazing resources one can find on the web (video tutorials, blogs, the Koha wiki, …). All those things make Koha great and fun to work with. Please, visit our site and let me know your comments and feedback. The URL is http://library.st-barbara-austria.org/ Of course, we would be happy to be added to the list of Koha users on the Koha web-site: Public Library of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Parish St. Barbara, Vienna, Austria http://library.st-barbara-austria.org/ Regards, Stephan Witoszynskyj ps: currently, we have only a fraction of our books in our catalogue. So don’t be surprised, that the catalogue is rather small. Cataloguing will be our main focus for the next months.
