Enquiry: people still using GRS-1
by Tomas Cohen Arazi 06 Feb '15

06 Feb '15

As many of you noticed, GRS-1 support was dropped with the Koha 3.18 release. It has no longer been maintained since July 2014. The current supported indexing mode is DOM. It has been the default dince 3.12 so most of you should be using DOM without noticing. As the release team is on the process of removing it from Koha's code as part of a maintenance cleanup, it is important that those who still rely on GRS-1 and haven't switched to DOM yet, tell us of any feature loss that DOM would mean for you. If you don't know what DOM or GRS-1 is, and are using newer Koha, then don't worry about this message. Overdue Notice Lists All Checked out Books Without -t
by Kyle Noakes 06 Feb '15

06 Feb '15

Hello, I apologize if this should go straight to bugzilla, but I am unsure how to proceed with this. I am running Koha 3.18.03 on SLES 11 SP3. My Perl version is 5.10. I seem to be running into a similar problem as bug 13468, http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=13468, where the overdue notice will list all checked out books rather than just overdue ones. The bug fix determined that it was happening when the overdue_notice.pl would run in triggered mode with -t, but I do not run the overdue_notice.pl in triggered mode. I manually run the command when our schools ask me to rather than running a cronjob, so I do not use triggered. I did confirm that the patched code was showing up in overdue_notice.pl, but it did not make a difference when not doing triggered notices. Is there possibly something else that I am missing. Again I apologize if I should be going straight to Bugzilla with this. If I should be, just let me know whether it would be a new bug or adding to the old. I have been running Koha for 5 years or so, but have not had to add any bugs yet so I am new to the process. Thank you, Kyle Noakes Manager of Information Systems East Grand Rapids Public Schools

Fwd: Facets missing on fresh dev install of 3.18.3
by Cindy Murdock Ames 06 Feb '15

Hi Michał, The opac isn't publicly accessible yet but here's a screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/0hdHrbm.png The area where the facets usually are is completely blank, even the "Refine your search" header is missing. We are using marc21, the xsl, xml & record.abs files are present in my installation and the zebra configuration files look like they're pointing to them correctly. I haven't edited them at all. I do have logs from my last reindexing here: http://ccfls.org/files/reindex-output-1-28-15.txt. Re: [Koha] Troubleshoot file not found (856$u)
by Doug Dearden 06 Feb '15

Gopalakrishna, /home/user/Downloads is not in a location that is accessible from the Apache web server. On a default package install on Debian the document root for the OPAC is /usr/share/koha/opac/htdocs , and the document root for the staff client is /usr/share/koha/intranet/htdocs. I believe it is the same on Ubuntu. There are different ways to make files accessible via the url. One is to create a directory in one of these locations, put the files there and then just point to them. For instance if your server is at http://mylibrary.mydomain.com you create the directory /usr/share/koha/opac/htdocs/myfiles , and put the file test.pdf in there. The url http://mylibrary.mydomain.com/myfiles/test.pdf should point to that file. To use /home/user/Downloads you can use a symbolic link instead. You put your files in /home/user/Downloads. Instead of making the myfiles directory, you make a symbolic link from the OPAC document root: ln –s /home/user/Downloads /usr/share/koha/opac/htdocs/myfiles You put the file test.pdf into /home/user/Downloads . The url http://mylibrary.mydomain.com/myfiles/test.pdf should point to the file the same as above. The advantage to this method is you can give a limited user the ability to put files into /home/user/Downloads without ever having to see unneeded parts of the file structure. Another trick that Galen Charlton pointed out to me was using the Apache redirect directive. Instead of putting the full url into the 856u field, you can use a placeholder that Apache reinterprets into the full url. If sometime in the future you run out of space for these files, you can move them to another server and just change the redirect reference in the Apache config file. For instance, in our example you would use: Redirect /filelocation http://mylibrary.mydomain.com/myfiles The url you put into the 856u field would be /filelocation/test.pdf. If you later move your files to a different server, rather than having to edit all of the 856u fields, you can simply change the Redirect directive to something else like: Redirect /filelocation http://biggerserver.mydomain.com/myfiles Best, Doug From: Gopalakrishna-BMSIT [mailto:gk.bmsit@gmail.com] Sent: Tuesday, February 3, 2015 9:49 PM To: Doug Dearden Subject: Re: [Koha] Troubleshoot file not found (856$u) Dear Doug, I have installed koha using packages on Ubuntu 12.04, also on Debian Squeezy on another system. Re: [Koha] A report for finding records with multiple items?

I haven't actually tried this, but there is a report in the Koha SQL Reports library that looks like it can be adapted to do what you want. The report is called "Records with item count". I reckon you just need to add a 'HAVING' clause which identifies records with more than one copy: *SELECT DISTINCT CONCAT('<a title="Search for all records sharing the title:',b.title,'" href="/cgi-bin/koha/catalogue/search.pl?q=ti%3A <http://search.pl?q=ti%3A>', REPLACE(REPLACE (b.title, ' ', '+'),'?',''),'">Search</a>') AS "Search for Title", b.biblionumber, CONCAT('<a href="/cgi-bin/koha/catalogue/detail.pl?biblionumber= <http://detail.pl?biblionumber=>',b.biblionumber,'">',b.title,'</a>') AS "Item Title", b.author, t.editionstatement, t.publishercode, t.isbn, count(i.biblionumber) AS "Copies" FROM biblio b LEFT JOIN biblioitems t USING(biblionumber) LEFT JOIN items i USING(biblionumber) GROUP BY b.biblionumber HAVING copies > 1 ORDER BY Copies ASC* Like I say, I haven't tested it, but I think it should work. Somebody else may have a better way. Post recently catalogued books to a Facebook page
by Witoszynskyj Stephan 05 Feb '15

05 Feb '15

Hi, I recently wrote on this list that I’m about to develop a script that posts recently catalogued books to a Facebook page. Well, I found some time faster then I thought, so here’s my simple script. I’ll run it using koha-foreach in a cronjob. It does nothing fancy it just posts a list of recently catalogued books in the form author: title http://yourlibrary.org/bib/number in the time line of a Facebook page. I also tried uploading cover images, but that didn’t work that well. Actually, the whole script is rather trivial. Figuring out how to get access tokens for Facebook having the correct permissions took much longer then developing the script. So, I tried to summarize the steps necessary to get the tokens in the script’s comments. I hope they are helpful. Cheers, Stephan #!/usr/bin/perl use utf8; use Modern::Perl; use C4::Context; use Facebook::Graph; # This program posts a list of recently catalogued books to Facebook "Page". # To be able to get the required access tokens you have to have administrator # rights for the page. # # 1. Register as developer on Facebook's developer site: # https://developers.facebook.com # 2. Add an app on Facebook's developer site. Use "advanced Setup", choose a # name and the category "Apps for pages". You'll get an app id and an app # secret # 3. get an user access token on https://developers.facebook.com/tools/explorer # by clicking "Get Access Token", set the "Extended Permissions" manage_pages and publish_actions (make sure that you do that for your app and not for Graph Explorer) # 4. extend the expiration date of the access token by submitting the following # GET request: # /oauth/access_token?grant_type=fb_exchange_token&client_id={app-id}&client_secret={app-secret}&fb_exchange_token={short-lived-token} # You can this using wget: # wget -O token "https://graph.facebook.com/wget -O token "https://graph.facebook.com/oauth/access_token?grant_type=fb_exchange_token&… # the file token will then contain your token # 5. determine your user id e.g. by http://graph.facebook.com/yourusername # 6. get the page access token by submitting the following GET request in # Graph API explorer: # /{user-id}/accounts # You will get a data structure containing a number of key # value pairs for each page you administrate.
