Re: [Koha] Koha Digest, Vol 121, Issue 18
by David Cook 12 Nov '15

Hi Jesse: I've read the response from yourself and others, and I agree with Zeno that it would be wise to open a bug on http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/. The reason the keyword searching works is because all text nodes in a MARC record are indexed in the "Any" (ie Keyword) index. The 880 field itself gets no special handling in the current version of biblio-zebra-indexdefs.xsl, which is why searching indexes other than Keyword doesn't work when you're searching for Arabic text stored in the 880. In my opinion, an elegant solution could theoretically be achieved by something like the following: <xsl:template match="marc:datafield[@tag='880']"> <xsl:variable name="linkage" select="substring(marc:subfield[@code='6']",1,3)"/> <xsl:call-template name="$linkage" /> </xsl:template> However, we don't current use named templates in biblio-zebra-indexdefs.xsl, so that's not possible at the moment. The above is just a hypothetical suggestion that would be easier to maintain and extend. Glancing at http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=14217, you might try something like the following in biblio-koha-indexdefs.xml in Koha 3.22: <index_subfields tag="880" subfields="a" condition="substring(marc:subfield[@code='6']",1,3) = 245"> <target_index>Title-cover:w</target_index> <target_index>Title-cover:p</target_index> <target_index>Title-cover:s</target_index> <target_index>Title:w</target_index> <target_index>Title:p</target_index> <target_index>Title:s</target_index> </index_subfields> Unfortunately, this convention requires you to make a block for every index linkage you need. That is, you'll need to do the same for 245, 260, 100, etc. It'll also be more difficult to maintain in the long-run, so it would be wise to locate the 880 near its linked field in the biblio-koha-indexdefs.xml file, so as to prevent deviations between how the fields are indexed. Of course, since you're probably only trying to provide access to a handful of commonly used fields, this shouldn't be too laborious of a process. It is possible to fix your situation one way or another, Jesse. XSLT is powerful and DOM indexing is quite flexible as a result. Re: [Koha] Searching in Arabic
by David Cook 12 Nov '15

12 Nov '15

Hi Jesse: Can you elaborate on what you mean when you say that you're not getting any Arabic results for *title*, *author* or *series*? I look after a library with English, French, and Arabic records, and I'm seeing search results when I do title searches in Arabic. Are the records catalogued in Arabic or is the only Arabic text in the 880? I'm quite experienced with Zebra and somewhat experienced with Arabic in Koha, so hopefully I'll be able to give you a hand. Do you have a public URL that I could look at? I might be able to do some troubleshooting just from the OPAC alone. The cataloguing framework doesn't really have much to do with the indexing... although the structure of the record itself would. That is, if the only Arabic is in the 880 field, you would likely need a more complex indexing configuration to achieve your goal. What version of Koha are you using? Your link to the manual is 3.2... are you on 3.2 or a newer version? Additionally, how did you install Koha? Was it via the Debian packages, the tarball, or Git? batch record modification question
by Hugo Agud 12 Nov '15

12 Nov '15

Good Morning We're testing 'Batch record modification' using the samples in the manual, but It is not working on fields 952 (items fields) I mean in fact all the info from items are stored in items table, and biblio info is stored in biblioitems, The tool works fine with biblio records, but we didn't expeted that it also works with items, becuase the info is located in other table, but we wished to check the manual samples We have tried to copy the 090 field from biblio to items without success as we expected, the question is .. it should work also with items? is our install failing or is the doc a little wrong? thanks you in advance Hugo -- *Hugo Agud - Orex Digital * *www.orex.es <http://www.orex.es>* Director Passatge de la Llançadera, 3 · 08338 Premià de Dalt - Tel: 93 539 40 70 hagud(a)orex.es · http://www.orex.es/ No imprima este mensaje a no ser que sea necesario. I'll send this to you directly just in case......I don't think I can post very large size messages on the Koha list....(the list often tells me that...) export from 3.01 --> import to 3.20
by Scott Owen 11 Nov '15

11 Nov '15

Hi all, I'm trying to export my collection from an older version of Koha : Koha version:3.01.00.145OS version ('uname -a'):Linux koha3 2.6.26-2-686 #1 SMP Thu Aug 19 03:44:10 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/LinuxPerl interpreter: /usr/bin/perlPerl version:5.010001 and get the MARC file for import into a new version. (3.20.05.000) the export file seems to be OK , and I am exporting "items" (the "don't export items" option is not checked) however... when I try and import the file...they stage fine , the records show, and the import completes, but it seems that no items are added ??? (I've tried to send screen shots....but the list message size won't let me ..... ) According to the export...Items are automagically added unless otherwise "deselected" I'm guessing I may have to modify the export to get the "item" field setup correctly for import into the newer version? Anyone know exactly what needs to be modified / changed ? *************************example export mrc********************************** =LDR 01283nam a2200301 4500 =008 080817t\\\\\\\\xxu|||||\||||\00|\0\eng\d =008 040720s2004\\\\nyu\\\\c\\\\\\000\1\eng =010 \\$a 2003009602 =020 \\$a0689857942 :$c15.95 =020 \\$a9780689857959 (pbk.) :$c5.99 =082 \\$aF HAD =090 \\$c2$d2 =092 \\$aJ Haddix =100 1\$aHaddix, Margaret Peterson. =245 10$aAmong the brave /$cMargaret Peterson Haddix. =260 \\$aNew York :$bSimon & Schuster Books for Young Readers,$cc2004. =300 \\$a229 p. ;$c22 cm. =440 \0$aShadow children ;$vbk. 5. =500 \\$aSequel to: Among the Barons. =520 \\$aIn a society that allows families to have only two children, a group of third-borns tries to save themselves and others like them. =526 \\$aAccelerated Reader - Quiz #78248$b3rd-7th Grade$c5.1$d7.0 =650 \1$aScience fiction. =650 \1$aFuture in literature. =650 \1$aDystopias$vFiction. =942 \\$cBOOK =999 \\$c1$d1 =952 \\$w2010-08-20$p70234$v10.95$r2015-05-12$40$00$6F_HAD$91$bPINE$m3$10$oF HAD$d2010-08-20$t1$70$2ddc$g10.95$yBK$u235$s2015-05-07$l26$aPINE =952 \\$w2012-11-21$p74711$v11.71$r2015-06-05$40$00$6F_HAD$94586$bPINE$10$oF HAD$d2012-11-21$t2$8FIC$70$cFIC$2ddc$g11.71$yBK$s2015-05-01$l20$aPINE **************************************************************** Thanks, -S

Classification code on bibliographic record
by Krister Andréason 11 Nov '15

Hi Is it possible to show the classification code (084 a) on the bibliographic record? It is displayed on the marc tab on the bib records I've tested but not on the bib. At first I thought it might have something to do with the xslt, but when I leave the XSLTDetailsDisplay field in admin empty it does not show either.
