"patron does not exist" error when adding new patron
by wildness 11 Nov '15

11 Nov '15

Hey All, I inherited a system today for a library that's having a using adding new members. I'm assuming this is a database issue or configuration issue, but i'm not sure how to trouble shoot this. The issue: Via the web interface: When I go to patrons->add a new patron fill out the required fields and send the form I get back a "patron does not exist" error which makes no sense to me. Can anyone help me out? -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/patron-does-not-exist-error-when-adding-n… Sent from the Koha-general mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Check out more DVDs for "good behavior"
by Christopher Davis 10 Nov '15

10 Nov '15

Dear Colleagues, Is there a way in which Koha can *automatically* increase the number of DVDs a patron is allowed to check out on their account based on their "good behavior" (e.g., their account carries no late fees, no lost item fees, no overdue items, etc.)? I know that Koha currently has a cron which moves patron accounts from a minor patron category into an adult patron category once the said patron has turned 18 years of age. I am wondering if a similar cron could be programmed to move patron accounts from a "four-DVDs" patron category to an "eight-DVDs," or "twenty-DVDs" patron category by evaluating the "good behavior" criteria which I specified in the paragraph above. Is this a ludicrous idea? Your thoughts? Searching in Arabic
by Jesse Lambertson 10 Nov '15

10 Nov '15

Good morning everyone (if it is morning when you are...) A while back, we figured out how to search and retrieve results in Arabic (much of our collection is in this language). I thank everyone who helped us get this done. But we have been searching "keyword" in Arabic for so long, we just realized that we are NOT getting any Arabic results for *title*, *author* or *series* in Arabic. ICU is turned-on of course. The default MARC21 fields in Zebra's indexing list are found here: http://manual.koha-community.org/3.2/en/kohasearchindexes.html Are there any other steps we need to follow besides those listed here http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/How_to_add_new_zebra_index to add 880 to the indexing list? Or maybe there is a step listed somewhere in the wiki that we missed? Does that mean modifying the framework or is the cataloguing framework itself unaffected during this index-list addition? Thank you in advance for your assistance. Regards, Jesse -- Jesse A Lambertson Librarian Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center <http://www.sqcc.org/> عالم الانجازات ينحاز دوماً مع المتفائلين

Report help: count of certain subfield values
by Kallinen Pasi 10 Nov '15

10 Nov '15

Hi all, I've been pondering how to do this report, but haven't found a good solution: I'd like to have a list of all subfield values for certain subfield from biblioitems, and have counts of the field contents. For example: SELECT count(*), ExtractValue(marcxml, '//datafield[@tag=<<Field>>]/subfield[@code="<<Subfield>>"]') AS kentta FROM biblioitems GROUP BY kentta ORDER BY count(*), kentta This works, except when the field or subfield is repeatable, because the values from a single record are concatenated by MySQL, with the values separated by spaces. This means it's impossible to know if the space is a separator between the field values, or part of a field value. (If only Koha stored the marcxml data in a database-query friendly format too...) -- Ystävällisin terveisin Pasi Kallinen ICT-asiantuntija p. 050-408 6958 pasi.kallinen(a)pttk.fi Pohjois-Karjalan Tietotekniikkakeskus Oy - www.pttk.fi

Class reports
by library 09 Nov '15

09 Nov '15

Hi everyone I wonder if anyone can help me with my report. I am trying to adapt the "Patrons with most checkouts in date range report" to enable me to print borrowing statistics by classes which I have as an additional attribute. I keep getting an error message "You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'count(s.borrowernumber) AS checkouts FROM statistics s LEFT JOIN borrowers b ' at line 2" which is the part I didn't change. This is as far as I have got in my report. SELECT concat(b.surname,', ',b.firstname) AS name, a.code, a.attribute, c.branchcode count(s.borrowernumber) AS checkouts FROM statistics s LEFT JOIN borrowers b USING (borrowernumber) LEFT JOIN borrower_attributes a USING (borrowernumber) WHERE c.branchcode = 'KKC' AND s.datetime BETWEEN <<Top checkouts BETWEEN (yyyy-mm-dd)|date>> AND <<and (yyyy-mm-dd)|date>> WHERE a.code = Class AND a.attribute=<<Class>> Thanks Ann Murphy Katikati College
