Generating a barcode list of records created by a particular user in a given time frame
by Admire Mutsikiwa 08 Jun '16

08 Jun '16

Hi I am interested in generating a barcode list of records created by a given user ( as a function of borrower number) in a given time frame. I will appreciate an SQL statement that will enable me to achieve this. Kind Regards, Admire Mutsikiwa (Mr) ICT Manager Libraries University of Zimbabwe Tel:+263-4-303276 Mob:+263771117777 "It is easy to dodge our responsibilities, but we cannot dodge the consequences of dodging our responsibilities." Kohacon 2017
by Mirko Tietgen 08 Jun '16

08 Jun '16

Hello everyone, Kohacon 2016 is almost over. It was a fantastic event and I am sad to leave Thessaloniki and everyone here tomorrow. We already have a wiki page for Kohacon 2017 bids, and I invite everyone to enter their proposals to host Kohacon next year. My phone does not want to copy the link, so just do a search in the Koha wiki for kohacon17. Keep in mind that we have been in Europe this year, so we will pick a place on a different continent next year. We have not set a deadline yet (I think), we should do so at one of the next IRC meetings. Cheers from Thessaloniki, Mirko

LOC Z39.50 Connection configuration setup
by Decka David 07 Jun '16

07 Jun '16

Dear Koha community, Is there anyone in the community who successfully connect to Library of Congress Z39.50 server for copy cataloguing practices or search on port 210? Maybe I could have missed out on any new changes and updates with the Library of Congress connection issues. As instruction on Wiki Koha <https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Troubleshooting_Koha_as_a_Z39.50_serve r> but all seems to be unsuccessful. Can someone help advice about the this issue Decka David PNG

SQL reports - Fine generating with itemtype filter
by Suresh Kumar Tejomurtula 07 Jun '16

07 Jun '16

Dear all, I need help in generating a report related to fines. Using the below report iam able to generate the fines. I would like to add a filter to this report "itemtype" for fine report as our circulation rules are slightly different for books and journals and the complete fine reports sometimes not exactly what iam looking for. I tried adding this (SELECT itype FROM items t WHERE t.itype = 'BK') AS 'ITEMTYPE') and added items t at "from statement", but not working. As iam not much aware of sql reports, requesting help in generating report with itemtype as a filter, I would like to generate fine report on a monthly basis with itemtypes. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ SELECT (SELECT CONCAT('<a href=\"/cgi-bin/koha/members/ boraccount.pl?borrowernumber=',b.borrowernumber,'\">', b.surname,', ', b.firstname,'</a>') FROM borrowers b WHERE b.borrowernumber = a.borrowernumber) AS Patron, format(sum(amountoutstanding),2) AS 'Outstanding', (SELECT count(i.itemnumber) FROM issues i WHERE b.borrowernumber = i.borrowernumber) AS 'Checkouts' FROM accountlines a, borrowers b WHERE (SELECT sum(amountoutstanding) FROM accountlines a2 WHERE a2.borrowernumber = a.borrowernumber) > '0.00' AND a.borrowernumber = b.borrowernumber AND a.timestamp BETWEEN <<FINE Between (yyyy-mm-dd)|date>> AND <<and (yyyy-mm-dd)|date>> GROUP BY a.borrowernumber ORDER BY b.surname, b.firstname, Outstanding ASC _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ -- Regards T. Is Koha capable of offering a left anchored title search? well, as I know out-of-the-box this oprion is not present. If you do modification on you zebra configuration about title (index 'ti') I think it is possible. But I never do a similar configuration. Facets and Yaz
by Tom Hanstra 06 Jun '16

06 Jun '16

I've been looking more into the facets with Zebra a bit and have determined that, for every version of Yaz > 5.8.0, I have to turn Zebra Facets off within the /etc/koha/koha-conf.xml file. I tried a couple of different versions of Zebra and that does not change anything. The only way I've been able to get Zebra facets to work is to roll back Yaz to 5.8.0. What combinations of Yaz and Zebra are used within Debian when testing is done? What versions come with Debian installs? I assume that others either have not run into this problem or base packages used by the OS are older. Do I lose anything by rolling back to that level of Yaz? Thanks for any help or ideas you can give, Tom -- *Tom Hanstra* *Sr. Systems Administrator* hanstra(a)nd.edu <http://library.nd.edu/>

Removing Boolean searching from OPAC.
by Raymund Delahunty 06 Jun '16

06 Jun '16

Has anyone edited server files to change the way OPAC searches work, to remove the default use of Boolean? We are on 3.20 and in the quick search box Boolean operators are recognised, and in the case of AND are assumed between individual words. For example, a search of our OPAC at https://libsearch.arts.ac.uk for (leaving the asterisk delimiters out): *** On not knowing how artists think Elizabeth Fisher *** produced almost 70,000 as we are actually search on only the first word (On, with the six words after NOT being thrown away). Apparently, to disable Boolean searching we need to add double quotes round the search, to treat each word as an individual keyword. We don't see the use of quotes as ideal, and certainly not intuitive. One of the conference attendees I met at KohaCon 2016 in Thessaloniki last week suggested this Boolean default option should be removable, but he did urge caution as the change might not be the easiest to make, and would need a good understanding of how the search functionality operates. Has anyone already done this Boolean-removal, and can share with us how the work was done so we can have our support company consider making the change? Thanks.
