I've already noticed the "new feature" count is off. I'll fix that in the next revision. Bibliotheca integration
by Justin Martin 18 Nov '16

18 Nov '16

Our current library system for the state of Maine uses Overdrive for e-books and digital audiobooks. I am about to go live with our new KOHA system in a week or two. I just received an email stating that the state library system will be changing to Bibliotheca. http://www.bibliotheca.com/3/index.php/en-uk/ Until the official switch over we will be using the integrated overdrive features. I was curious if there is any plans of integration of this into KOHA? Until then I was curious if anyone has used the KOHA site to open links within the main frame while maintaining the menu's along the top and left? Or is it simply better to have it open in another window? Justin Martin Library Assistant Abel J. Morneault Memorial Library

What's on in Koha devel #7
by Jonathan Druart 15 Nov '16

15 Nov '16

Hello librarians and developers, Koha 16.11 will be released soon, in 1 week only (November 22nd). We are entering the string freeze which means that only bug fixes without string changes will get pushed. But developers are already focused on 16.12, the next development version :) Note that we have a blocker (for the release) and we should get a signoff on it ASAP, see bug 17522. = Refactoring = I have continued to move the C4::Members code to the Koha namespace. It's quite easy code and so easy to rewrite, but I tried to cut it into small chunks of code and it's very hard to create a tree of bug dependencies. You can help me testing the orange boxes of this dependency graph: https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/showdependencygraph.cgi?id=16846 (scroll to the right!) The shifting of the biblioitems.marcxml field to another table (bug 17196) is still in the needs sign off queue. = Elastic search = We are adapting our code to the new 2.4 version of Elastic search, see bug 17255. This can be tested on kohadevbox (Search for "elasticsearch_version" in the README file) = Developer tools = == KohaDevBox == KohaDevBox 2.0 has been released. It now works under Windows and Mac OS. See the announcement on koha-devel: http://lists.koha-community.org/pipermail/koha-devel/2016-November/043272.h… Thanks Tomas for the great work! == Koha misc4dev == I will maintain an external repository where I will write some misc for dev. The goal is to provide useful scripts to fill the database with extra data, auto configure features, etc. See the announcement on koha-devel: http://lists.koha-community.org/pipermail/koha-devel/2016-November/043277.h… The next dev meeting is on December 14th https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Development_IRC_meeting_14_December_20… 13UTC. You can still fill the poll to find the best 2 slots for dev meetings: https://framadate.org/3dAEB8zqQLzzTptD Cheers, Jonathan

Did you mean koha
by Hugo Agud 15 Nov '16

15 Nov '16

Good morning We are trying to use 'Did you mean' Explode Terms in Koha but we have not been able to make it work, it always return us 0 results. We have checked the authorities field and it seems it is property configured screenshot: https://postimg.org/image/c6w250nuv/ We have reindex zebra, we have activated explode terms and when the user launch a search it suggest the related, broader and narrower term, but when a user click on any term it does't reutns any result except for narrower. we have checked that for narrower it returns any results, but we suspect it is because there is azebra index under su-na, but it is not giving the proper results. anybody is using this functionality? we have not seen any bug about this, then perhaps we are doing something wrong. We have also notices that the advane search option subject and broader, related terms is not working neither. ( it is using su-br, su-rl, and su-na again) any clue on this issue, please? We're working on Debian 8 jessy, koha 3.22 with marc21 flavour thanks a lot in advance -- *Hugo Agud - Orex Digital * *www.orex.es <http://www.orex.es>* <http://www.orex.es/> [image: www.orex.es/koha] <http://www.orex.es/koha> [image: www.orex.es/vufind] <http://www.orex.es/vufind> <http://www.orex.es/omeka> Director Calle Sant Joaquin,117, 2º-3ª · 08922 Santa Coloma de Gramanet - Tel: 933 856 138 hagud(a)orex.es · http://www.orex.es/ No imprima este mensaje a no ser que sea necesario. Curious behaviour with batch modified records - ghost fields
by Elaine Bradtke 14 Nov '16

14 Nov '16

We're running 3.22.07 in the test site. I was testing out some batch modification to biblios in Koha. I started out with 440 records that needed to be fixed, but because of a glitch in my report, I didn't capture all the biblio numbers the first go round and had to do the modification twice to catch the last 53. The modification: If there was a 245$h present in the record (from a list of biblio numbers), it should be deleted. The first batch of records worked fine. I checked my results with an advanced search and discovered the 53 records my report had missed, rewrote the report, and picked up those biblio numbers When I applied the same modification to the last batch of 53 records, something strange happened. Running the same advanced search that turned up the stragglers, I found they were still coming up in the results. Looking at the records in the results list, the field was still displaying. But when I looked at the MARC view, it was not there. We ran a complete re-index of the data, cleared the browser history, even shut everything down and rebooted my laptop. But these records persist in being found by searching something that isn't there. And displaying something that isn't there. I have found a way to force this behaviour to stop. If I open the record for editing, and then close it again (without touching anything), the ghost field stops haunting the record. It looks and behaves in searches as it should. Any ideas why this is happening, and more importantly how to fix it? Or have I dug up another bug? (for the superstitious among you, I was working on these batch modifications on October 31st). -- Elaine Bradtke Data Wrangler VWML English Folk Dance and Song Society | http://www.efdss.org Cecil Sharp House, 2 Regent's Park Road, London NW1 7AY Tel +44 (0) 20 7485 2206 (This number is for the English Folk Dance and Song Society in London, England. Change in behavior after upgrade
by Doug Dearden 14 Nov '16

14 Nov '16

Hello all, We recently upgraded from version 3.16.03.000 to 16.05.05.000 and I migrated to a new server at the same time. We have three catalogs including one where we have scanned archival items. The link to these items was then placed in the 856$u field and the electronic format in the 856$q field. Typically this looks like 856$u /directory1/directory2/foo.jpg | 856$q jpg . Somewhere along the line on the old system, the librarian cataloging these images found that she could put in the path to the file in 856$u as just /directory1/directory2/foo and put the mime extension in 856$q and the image would appear when the link was clicked on. The actual file on the server is foo.jpg and there is no file just named foo . After our migration and upgrade, this no longer works as before. Since the old machine is still running, I verified that this was the case and indeed, a link on the old one that says /directory1/directory2/foo opens the scanned image. The url in the browser address windows says /directory1/directory2/foo . If I change the url to /directory1/directory2/foo.jpg the image also appears . On the new machine things changed. /directory1/directory2/foo returns the error "Not Found The requested URL /directory1/directory1/foo was not found on this server". Changing the url to /directory1/directory2/foo.jpg fixes things and returns the image. Did something change in Koha? I am suspicious that this is an Apache or Linux thing, but am baffled why this even works on the old one without the complete file name. I am thinking I need to write some SQL to append the 856$q text onto the 856$u to fix this, but if there is a config I need to change somewhere to get back to the old behavior that would be easiest. I am open to any suggestions. remove all patron pictures
by Scott Owen 14 Nov '16

14 Nov '16

Hi all, I have been asked to remove all of our patron (student) photos from one site...due to the photos causing a slowdown in rendering the checkout page..... (I just added the photos last week...) A quick look at the Koha SQL tables shows a "patronimage" table.....my guess is that these are the images saved as a "blob" (or something like that....). Can I safely delete the table data (borrowernumber / mimetype / imagefile) without any repercussion ? or is there a preferred method to clear the photos out ? Thanks, -S

Z39.50 - internal server error
by radek.siman＠centrum.cz 14 Nov '16

14 Nov '16

Hi, sometimes we are facing very annoying problem concerning Z39.50 searching, bacause all attempt to search records fail with a "white page of death" saying only "Internal server error". It is somehow connected to plack, but we cannot find a good solution. Symptoms: # tail plack-error.log -n 5 Undefined subroutine &C4::Breeding::GetZ3950BatchId called at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Breeding.pm line 279. Undefined subroutine &C4::Breeding::GetZ3950BatchId called at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Breeding.pm line 279. Undefined subroutine &C4::Breeding::GetZ3950BatchId called at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Breeding.pm line 279. Undefined subroutine &C4::Breeding::GetZ3950BatchId called at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Breeding.pm line 279. Undefined subroutine &C4::Breeding::GetZ3950BatchId called at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Breeding.pm line 279. Solution A: # koha-plack --restart When we restart the plack service, then the searching starts to work again for an unpredictable period of time (often several days, sometimes week or two). Solution B: We add a "C4::ImportBatch::" prefix to C4/Breeding.pm at these two lines: my $batch_id = GetZ3950BatchId($servhref->{servername}); my $breedingid = AddBiblioToBatch($batch_id, $seq, $marcrecord, 'UTF-8', 0, 0); This solution works well except the fact, that prefixing is not probably the best idea because the procedures SHOULD be already imported. In fact, they aren't. Sometimes. We think it could be caused by our local changes of code. We are not happy with it, but is it possible that the local changes of code don't work well with plack module? What should be kept in mind to avoid (probably?) incorrect imports with "use" command? Thanks a lot! Radek
