Hello. We configure SIP2 for RFID in a system for KOHA. Configuration is allright, all clients can connect and get results from SIP. However after a time, encoding is broken and I have to restart SIP2 in command line. 9300CNtest1|COtest1|CP34| 941 1720060110 215612AO27|AB102700011725| 1803020120161122 085258AB102700011725|AJKütüphane Üzerine Bir Araştırma |AQ27|BG27| I open 2 terminal and connect in same time by telnel linux1$> telnet 192.168.2.1 6001 linux2$> telnet 192.168.2.1 6001 (i send these commands in same time) 9300CNtest1|COtest1|CP34| 941 1720060110 215612AO34|AB21312311| 1803020120161122 085258AB102700011725|AJKtphane zerinde Ara?t?rma|AQ3|BG3| Then I restart SIP2 and it result correct in one terminal ; 9300CNtest1|COtest1|CP34| 941 1720060110 215612AO34|AB21312311| 1803020120161122 085258AB102700011725|AJKütüphane Üzerine Bir Araştırma |AQ3|BG3| (correct result however it broken after a time) What should i do when clients connect in paralellism? I divide ports but it doesn't work. One client - one port. This client connect at same time and all SIP2 in ports are broken. I write a crontab command which restart SIP2 configuration every 30 minutes. but problem continue Thanks Ahmet

Self checkout and capturing bar code at the time of self checkin
by Krishna K 22 Nov '16

22 Nov '16

Hi, We plan to use the self checkout feature at our school library so that students and teachers can do the check outs/check ins themselves. I see 2 challenges, would appreciate any help on the same. 1. Self checkout - Once I login and enter the bar code of the book and click on Submit, the book gets issued to me. We prefer to have a pop up message that shows the title of the book corresponding to the entered bar code and accepts confirmation. Something like " Are you sure you want to checkout the Title "xxxxxxxx" ? " with a Yes and No clickable button. Once I click on Yes, the checkout should happen. We feel this feature will be extremely useful for people with dyslexia who may enter the bar code differently(we dont plan to use bar code scanners). Is there any parameter for enabling this ? If I need to customize, what should I do ? 2. Checkin thru the Self checkout module - when I login thru the Self checkout module, I am able to see the books already checked out by me. Against each book, I see a checkin button. When I click on the button, the checkin happens. It does not ask for the bar code of the book - because of this, it is quite possible for people to click on Checkin, without actually having the book with them or returning the book!! How do I make Koha prompt me to enter the bar code of the book ?(I see that checkin thru the staff login has this feature!!) Thanks for your help. -- Regards, Krishna

Koha Documentation
by Chris Cormack 21 Nov '16

21 Nov '16

Hi All As most of you will know I have been converting the Kohadocs to use Sphinx instead of Docbook XML. This is all ready to go. Both the master branch and the manual16.11.x branches are using Sphinx. You can see them here http://git.koha-community.org/gitweb/?p=kohadocs.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/head… and http://git.koha-community.org/gitweb/?p=kohadocs.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/head… Sphinx uses restructured text (like markdown) which is easier to read and edit. The file is broken up into smaller sections under en/source You will see a list of files like 01_intro.rst 02_administration.rst etc You can open these in any text editor you like, the format is quite simple to understand, but if you want to do something fancy you can read the primer here http://www.sphinx-doc.org/en/1.4.8/rest.html#rst-primer So you can submit patches the way people have always done. Or If you want, you can go to https://gitlab.com/koha-community-devs-users/kohadocs And submit merge requests. You can even edit the files in your webbrowser, eg https://gitlab.com/koha-community-devs-users/kohadocs/blob/master/en/source… And select edit (if you are logged in). You can use the preview link to see what it will look like before you submit your changes. Happy documenting everyone Chris -- Chris Cormack Catalyst IT Ltd. +64 4 803 2238 PO Box 11-053, Manners St, Wellington 6142, New Zealand

Re: [Koha] Field 773 $t not editable in any framework
by Michael Kuhn 19 Nov '16

Hi Marjorie > I was the same problem and it was fault of my plugin ADBlock. > https://addons.mozilla.org/fr/firefox/addon/adblock-plus/ > > Try without ADblock enable. Thank you very much for your suggestion! Yes, this did it! I deactivated Adblock in Mozilla Firefox, this time also the "Advanced constraints" of 773 $t could be opened (while 773 $w and all other fields could be opened with Adblock activated). So this means Koha is ad-friendly? I hope not. However, of course I did reactivate Adblock. I also made note of this in the filed bug https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=17660 Best wishes: Michael -- Geschäftsführer · Diplombibliothekar BBS, Informatiker eidg. Can't specify due date/renewal due date in 16.05
by King, Fred 19 Nov '16

19 Nov '16

Yesterday I upgraded Koha from 3.20 to 16.05, on Ubuntu 14.04LTS. Now we can't specify a due date for either checkouts or renewals. When we use the calendar to click on a date nothing happens; when we try to put in a date using the format 2016-12-30 I get an error message "Please enter a valid date (should match yyyy-mm-dd)." SpecifyDueDate is set to Allow. Any ideas? I've run out of them here. Hi Bob, Great idea! I have set up an email address for anyone who would like to send content. I can also set up a Dropbox folder for larger files if needed. The email address to send content that we can use to market Koha is kohamarketing(a)bywatersolutions.com <mailto:kohamarketing@bywatersolutions.com>. People who are interested in taking part in this initiative can also email me at this address and once we have a team we will all receive emails sent to that address. If you are someone who wants to help contribute to the community in ways other than doing development work this is the perfect thing for you!! > Nathan A. Field 773 $t not editable in any framework
by Michael Kuhn 18 Nov '16

18 Nov '16

Hi I'm working with Koha 16.05.05. I'm trying to change a copy of the standard framework. To catalogue sets with volumes we will need to unhide MARC field 773 in the framework. It is no problem to unhide 773 $w by clicking on "Advanced constraints" and marking the field "Editor", the click "Save changes". But also $t (for the title) is needed. There, when clicking on "Advanced constraints", nothing happens, so the tab will not open to mark the field "Editor". Instead, if "Basic constraints" is open, it will close "Basic constraints", but still "Advanced constraints" will not open. I also tried to unload the framework as an XML file and to edit it with vi - unfortunately the file has about 4.4 million characters in only 28 lines! vi seems not to be able to edit a file with such extremely long lines and just gets stuck, eating up 100% of cpu. Except on my own Koha installation I also tested this on the Catalyst demo installtion, it is same thing there. * http://demo-intra.mykoha.co.nz/ How to solve this? Is this a bug?
