Add a branch, or not?

We are considering a union catalogue with another small specialist library in a different location (170+ miles away). While it's useful for both libraries to be able to see what the other holds, most users will want to prioritize searching their local library. We are two distinct organizations, so it would be best if each library could have their own home screen, and a preference set to search for local items. What's the best way to do this with Koha? Would setting up a branch work, or would it be better to set up a different instance and somehow get them to link together for broader searches? The idea of using branches is appealing as there will be a lot of overlap between holdings, and it might be easier to link their holdings to our records instead of converting their database to MARC. They will probably both be hosted on the same (remote) server. Neither library has the budget (or the IT skills) for a complicated front end . If it's a small bit of digital magic that needs doing, we might be able to beg some help from a friendly IT wizard. One more question, will it cause any problems to add a new branch to our existing Koha setup (16.11)? Nicolay, This is the upgrade procedure that I recently used. - Install Ubuntu server 16.04. I ran up a new host on my ESXi server. - I followed the install procedure from the wiki (https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_on_ubuntu_-_packages) I used Mariadb - I replaced the "library" (koha instance) in the procedure with the name from the old server. - I run the web installer. - Then I drop the database in the new server. - Backup the database from the old server. - Import the backup into the new database. Syspref itemBarcodeFallbackSearch

Hello everyone, I imported records with *dedupbarcode* option and some of them were imported with no barcode, because there were already some items with the same barcode, as expected. Now, I want to be able to check out some of the items that have no barcode information, and tried the syspref *itemBarcodeFallbackSearch*. This is nice because in the check out interface I can now input other information (callnumber, copy number, record title) and still retrieve the item. However, it seems that this search only provides the items that actually have barcode information associated with it. In the code: https://github.com/Koha-Community/Koha/blob/master/circ/circulation.pl#L359 It seems that the item is only added to the list of options if there is, in fact, bar code information. After a couple of tests, it never returns the items with no barcode, only the ones that have it. Has anyone tried this? Is this the expected behaviour? Thanks, Pedro Amorim

Title lost in cataloguing and acquisitions

Good morning We are facing a strange behaviour of koha 16.11.06 on debian 8 fresh install, and I wish to ask if anybody else have identifier a similar behaviour, we have not seen any bug related or we have not been able to find it. We identified a bad sorting in list... it was due because title was lost in biblio.title, we are still trying to figyre out why? email module wise

Dear all, Is there anyway to send the email module wise i.e. in sender address email should be separate module emails so that if a user reply should directly come to concern module manager like Acquisition, Circulation, Serial etc. because the emails are generating from the various modules/manager but replying to only one email is something very difficult to manage. Koha OFFLINE

Let my explain: We have severals LIBRARIES, sometimes they do not have access to internet, so they need to catalog books and when they have access again to internet, them UPDATE the CENTRAL DATABASE.
