Plack causes permanent CPU load of 100%
by Michael Kuhn 04 Jan '18

04 Jan '18

Hi We are running Koha 16.11.01 on Debian GNU/Linux 8 (64-bit). Since some weeks we see Plack causing an almost permanent CPU load of 100% (maybe this happened after a regular update of the Debian Perl packages?). The file "/var/log/koha/INSTANCE/plack.log" constantly gets lines like the following added: Error while loading /etc/koha/plack.psgi: Can't load application from file "/usr/share/koha/api/v1/app.pl": Can't locate object method "cache_dir" via package "Swagger2::SchemaValidator" at /usr/share/perl5/Swagger2.pm line 41. Compilation failed in require at (eval 1221) line 1. A restart of the host doesn't solve the problem. For the moment we have stopped Plack and deactivated it completely. Does anyone know what causes this problem and how to solve it? Best wishes: Michael -- Geschäftsführer · Diplombibliothekar BBS, Informatiker eidg. Bug: passwords should be HTML-encoded when displayed during self-registration
by Arturo Longoria 04 Jan '18

04 Jan '18

Hi, all. Our library uses self-registration quite a bit, and I've recently stumbled upon a bug that can occur when Koha generates a random password for a user during self-registration and attempts to display it to the user since these passwords are not HTML-encoded. I have documented the bug here: https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=19911. Basically, the PatronSelfRegistrationPrefillForm preference can be set so that self-registered patrons are shown their password upon creating an account. This setting is necessary at our library because we do not allow patrons to select their own passwords during self-registration due to bug 19845, https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=19845. If the password that is generated randomly by Koha contains the less-than character, <, browsers think that this is the beginning of an HTML element, so the less-than character and anything after it are not displayed to the user. This means that users are not shown their full password! This screenshot illustrates what I'm describing: https://i.imgur.com/hlKpU1I.png. Re: [Koha] HTML5 video embedding returns software error
by Caroline Cyr-La-Rose 03 Jan '18

03 Jan '18

Paul and Tomas Yes, as mentioned by Tomas, I wanted it to embed, like in the manual http://translate.koha-community.org/manual/16.05/en/html-desktop/index.html… It's supposed to add a tab an embed the video in it. If I change the sys pref HTML5MediaYouTube to "Don't embed", it works just like in your example, i.e. add a link to the record. But that's not what I wanted... :/ Caroline Cyr La Rose, M.S.I. HTML5 video embedding returns software error
by Caroline Cyr-La-Rose 03 Jan '18

03 Jan '18

Hello all, I'm trying to test the HTML5 video embedding functionality (sys pref HTML5MediaEnable is "in OPAC and staff client" and HTML5MediaYouTube is "embed"). I put a youtube link in the 856 $u and either when I try to save the record in Cataloguing or when I try to access the record in the OPAC, I get a software error : garbage after JSON object, at character offset 57801 (before ";ytplayer.load = fun...") at /usr/share/perl5/WWW/YouTube/Download.pm line 226. This is the exact link I put in 856$u: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTzaK4l3UJY I'm using Koha 16.05 with Firefox Quantum. What am I doing wrong? Thanks! Caroline Cyr La Rose, M.S.I.
