Hello, I found that the sampledata distributed with koha-2.0.0pre2 has a problem. The number of fields in the member table doesn't match the data supplied. A friend of mine, Scott Ellis, took a few minutes and fixed the sample data. New to list....looking for info on E-smith/SME and Koha

Hi, I'm new to to the list (finally)....I'm a technology coordinator in Maine, USA and have been using E-Smith/, K12LTSP, and so forth extensively in my school for a couple years now. I'm really interested in getting Koha running, but want to keep the installation as simple as possible....I saw in the archives that some work has been done with releasing an RPM for installing on SME/Mitel/E-Smith.....can anyone point me to these files or let me know what the status of it is? Ya, I am installing on windows. I may already be a littel infamous over on the win32 mail list. I thought that I might have better luck over here since it was a perl specific question. You are right though this is configuring perl on windows. I will send this message to both groups but will continue the discussion over there. Install Solutions

Hi everyone, I just thought it would be useful to post the solutions to some problems I had while installing 2.0.0pre2. I'm running a barebones Debian 2.4 stable (woody) installation. 1. Dependency problems: Can't get Event or Net::Z3950 to install Event error: Event.xs:97: poll.h: No such file or directory In file included from Event.xs:279: c/signal.c:2: signal.h: No such file or directory make: *** [Event.o] Error 1 /usr/bin/make -- NOT OK Running make test Can't test without successful make Running make install make had returned bad status, install seems impossible So...it's looking for some c header files that are in libc6-dev #apt-get install libc6-dev Net::Z3950 error: ERROR: Unable to call script 'yaz-config': is YAZ installed? at Makefile.PL +line 6. Running make test Make had some problems, maybe interrupted? Won't test Running make install Make had some problems, maybe interrupted? Won't install So...yaz was installed but the devel yaz wasn't btw...if you're using debian you can grab yaz by adding deb http://www.indexdata.dk/debian indexdata/woody released deb-src http://www.indexdata.dk/debian indexdata/woody released to your /etc/apt/sources.list apt-get update apt-get install yaz apt-get install libyaz-dev Net::Z3950 installed with no problems after that. 2. apache configuration Ok...this is pretty simple. I had to add Include /etc/koha-httpd.conf to the bottom of the /etc/apache/httpd.conf file and I had to uncoment the env_module in the LoadModules section of /etc/apache/h ttpd.conf Hope that's helpful, Joshua

It seems folks are having problems getting their data clean. Here are some free tools that might help get it in better shape before importing. Showmarc is a DOS program that will show all the MARC fields used and how many times each is used. http://www.auto-graphics.com/download/SHOWMARC.EXE MarcEdit (Windows) can change records into human readable format and back again. It includes an editor, ability to mass add or delete fields, a field counter, and find and replace. A nice tool, should be a part of every cataloging dept. http://oregonstate.edu/~reeset/marcedit/html/index.html MARC RTP (DOS) has the ability to report the subfields as well as the fields used. It also gives how long the longest instance is. http://marc.ise.canberra.edu.au/ MARC/Perl is a powerful tool with functions only limited by your coding ability. http://marcpm.sourceforge.net/ Hope this helps some folks clean up their records. Question: I am brand-spankin' new to Koha and have 2.0.0pre2 running on a Redhat 9.0 box. Problem when searching by subject in OPAC

Afternoon all, I've successfully read-in all my records from CDS/ISIS and I'm now doing a little searching to check the data is ok. Everything looks good except for one thing. When I try and search by subject with the search term of "tuna" in the OPAC system I get this internal server error: type = subject at /www/servers/koha/modules/C4/Search.pm line 858. Can't use string ("1") as a HASH ref while "strict refs" in use at /www/servers/koha/modules/C4/Search.pm line 1118. [Wed Jul 30 16:36:38 2003] [error] [client 10.1.1.81] Premature end of script headers: /www/servers/opac/cgi-bin/opac-searchresults.pl A tad curious, I tried the same subject search in the KOHA admin system, and what do you know it, a search by "Tuna" returned results ok -- all is good in the Koha admin section. I then went back into the OPAC catalogue search and tried a subject search, but this time with a numeric value of "1" instead of "Tuna". On this occasion the search worked fine; no internal server error. Strange. Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated. I'm using the lastest koha-2.0.0pre2 tarball downloaded from sourceforge.
