I have Koha up on a stand-alone (for now) Windows machine and we are adding books and members. Marc/z3950 search/adding a new book

Adding a new book to Koha (Resent as i did not send it to the Koha list). To do Marc/z3950 search for my home library on linux, i manually run z3950-daemon-launch.sh, as I have not got my z3950 daemon running at boot. If i have problems finding a marc records I end up doing these three steps. 1. search for the book in one of the existing marc table using the MARC biblio management screen (cgi-bin/koha/acqui.simple/addbooks.pl) 2. If this search fails then I then go to cgi-bin/koha/acqui.simple/addbiblio.pl by clicking on Add new or Create Empty biblio button and then do the z3950 search. 3. If the little window say not found, I go back to step one and i normally find that the good old National Library of Scotland has my book. Give this a go and see if it helps, my problem may be different to yours as i have muck around with Breeding.pm, because title searches without ISBN were not being displayed. Change Windows to Linux

If I initally install Koha on Windows OS, is it very hard to change to Linux later on? What would be involved? New install

Hi: I just installed KOHA on my windows. But I can access to OPAC and INTRANET. I saw on the documentation that I may need to add two lines to the host file: 127.0.0.1 opac# Koha Library Software OPAC 127.0.0.1 intranet# Koha Library Software INTRANET Do you know if I need to assign the OPAC# and INTRANET # myself? Do I access the host file through the shut down / run / telnet/ function? Your input will be most appreciated. thanks. Koha installation on Windows

Hi: According to the documentation on installation of koha on windows, we need to add two lines to the hosts file in C:\Winnt\system32\drivers\etc 127.0.0.1 opac# Koha Library Software OPAC 127.0.0.1 intranet # Koha Library Software INTRANET Do i literally type the exact two lines? Or am I supposed to assign a opac # behind 127.0.0.1. Otherwise, the OPAC and INTRANET host will be with the same number. Carol __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Hi: How do you designate the Koha posting to the web address? You see, I am not an IT person. Currently I have installed APACHE, MYSQL, PERL AND KOHA in my computer, but I am stuck at the very last part of getting it to run on the web. What is involved in posting KOHA on the web? Thanks. ezcat and koha/windows

I have installed KOHA, MYSQL, APACHE in the C drive of my computer. But to run KOHA I was instructed to go to a web host. wondering about koha on windows... how hard is it?

hi everyone -- i'm excited about the chance to use koha on windows -- but before i go too far down the road w/ trying to self-install, i'd like to hear an assessment of how difficult or easy this might be for a normal, bright, daring, librarian who is NOT an it person and does not generally see the non-gui side of a computer? i'm wondering if this would be on par with installing, say adobe acrobat reader or any software on a cd rom -- which are pretty easy tasks? i've got rob weir's "koha on windows" doc and am going to procede, but am anxious to learn from others who may be in a similar situation. First time to run Koha on Windows

I was instructed to type either opac or intranet on the address bar of internet explorer to run Koha. Do you mean literally typing opac on the address bar without the www. or .org etc? I tried that, nothing happens.
