Hi, I am new to Koha. However, I have managed to translate it to my native tongue, Tamil, and installed it in Windows XP environment. It seem to work fine, EXCEPT: Whenever I try to "add biblio" by entering the name of a book, I get the error 500. I have uninstalled and reinstalled many, many times. I have also searched the archives for solutions. To no avail... Please help. I really want to get Koha going. What should I do? The following is the message I'm getting: start quote" Server error! Alice->Koha/Win32

I'm a non-librarian with moderate technical knowledge who's been asked to scope out a migration from Alice to Koha/Win32 for a small school (www.schoolofstjude.co.tz/) in Arusha, Tanzania. There's no documentation for the Alice system, and I am struggling with figuring out which format I should use to export the Alice bibliographic data into. (We're not going to worry about exporting card-holder or circulation data.) If there are any folks on this list who have done a Alice->Koha migration and could offer guidance/suggestions, please contact me directly. strange search problem

Hi again, as I said in my previous e-mail I finally succeded in installing koha 2.2.3 on a Debian 3.1revo0a, but now I am facing another strange problem... I need to import a test UNIMARC archive with italian specs (for example the place where the book is kept stays at tag 953 subfield a) so i made some prior configuration to the framework adding the 953 field and linking it to the kohaDB in the item records until the check was ok, planning to refine it later anyway (I'll have to translate to italian the whole interface, so the framework will undergo the same treatment). After that work I imported with: bulkmarcimport.pl -d -c UNIMARC --file filename.unimarc it said it imported the whole 105 records, even if it gave some errors concerning some queries. I executed a search, just to see how it imported them, and it gave no results... damn. No search seemed to succeed, even those with a single letter (I assume it searches for that letter, as version 2.0.2 seemed to do). "Fine, the import must have failed" I thought. Playing with the keyboard while thinking, I searched for "aa" and it returned 4 matches, almost correctly imported! Obviously no "aa" in any of their fields... I can't find other searches that return matching books yet. Anyone could please help on this problem? Please give me a hint, as if I succed in having a working Koha environment in the next 2 days it could dramatically boost the use of Koha (and probably opensource at all) in this zone, since one of the bosses has expressed interest in it... 2.2.3 installation issue

Hi everyone, I'm brand new on this list as I am starting to introduce Koha in the place where I work, which includes a library. First of all, thanks to the whole Koha staff for their work. Then, a little observation :-) I installed version 2.2.3 multiple times without having it to work: if I tried the searches those always ended with a server error, and the log showing up sort of "script not found" and a reference to /usr/lib/koha which didn't exist. I found no documentation about it on the net. And version 2.0.2 worked... but I wanted 2.2.3! Finally, I had a last idea: during the installation process I appended the stopwords.txt at the Koha db, which I haven't done before because I thought "I don't want no stopwords... maybe I'll add them later". It worked! Phew! :-) Anyone else fell into this trap? Maybe it's a bug, or it's something to warn of during the installation process... Anyway, thanks again! how to make 050 LCC call number used

I am trying to make 050 Library of Congress Call number to be used. >From "parameters" >> "Biblio framework" " >> "MARC structure", I know 050 is there. However, if I select "display only used tags/subfields". 082 Dewey Decimal Call number shows. Is there anyway to disable 082, but enable 050 LCC call number? or I have to change the PERL source code? Error while MARC setup checking

Hi, I have installed Koha in Windows. I have not made amny authority category in Authority value admin. Kaha error after instalation

I install Koha, installer was downloaded additional perl modules, and instalation was finished sucessful, but when i running Koha (both with usualy user and root rights) i've got 500 internal error after monit WELCOME TO KOHA in my browser (firefox or konqueror). I saw logs, and scripsts, but i don't know what i can do. Could you help me ?? I've never heard the rationale behind dumping the relational database. Why are we doing that, anyway? I'm just very leery of doing a conversion like this only to have things run worse than they were before. The search we have now is much better than a lot of the other products out there which is what attracted me to Koha. Koha as a Z3950 server

Hi all, I found the z3950 server script zed-koha-server.pl in Koha and I am trying it out. It seems to be running ok after installing a few extra Perl modules, on the default port 9999 and I can connect to it with Reference Manager 11 and get back that I can search etc and that I am talking to Zed-Koha/GFS/YAZ, however, I have no idea what the databse is called ? I tried koha already but get no results back. Anyone using this function in Koha ? There is not much on the internet about it.
