Tagging in Koha OPAC

A little feature suggestion to the future version of Koha OPAC: While ago I read a book called The Power to Name by Hope A. Olson. In the book Olson proposes an user contributed classification system in library catalogue as a way to empower people. She critizises the bias found in subject representation found in library catalogues and makes a skectch of a system where users (like the customers of library) are able to make connections between books and add their own subject headings. And look what we have today - The Library Thing (www.librarything.com) - an online service which enables users to catalogue their own books and add metadata, like tags, to the books, like in del.icio.us or in flickr. Just like Olson imagined. I think that we should add the tagging feature to Koha as soon as possible. Then Koha could be the first tagging-enabled ILS and the publicity would be huge - great PR to the project and to the open source movement overall. There's an open source tagging module Freetag written in PHP (http://www.freetag.org/) . It could serve as a starting point. Backup procedures Koha Win

With some excellent help form members of this list I have Koha going under Windows and am adding data. The environment is not very secure. Can someone tell me what files to back up to preserve patron and item data and the current circulation records. Does someone hav some good macro routines and schedules they have implemented? Can I input Chinese into database? Does Koha support Chinese characters? Any specific input method required? We have lots of books in Chinese that we need to circulate in the library. import into the reservoir problem

Many thanks for Thomas's answer to my question about LCC call number. I have questions regarding importing records into Koha. Most likely, I will use the import feature to do the copy cataloging (for bibio records). I found that if I have a bibio, I cannot use "import into the reservoir". When I use it, I see the message " 0 imported records 1 not imported because already in DB 0 not imported because already in farm 0 not imported because they seems not to be MARC format (or ISBN/ISSN missing) ! 1 records parsed" Even I chose "overwrite the existing one with this". I suppose not to get message like this. Anything wrong? Placing Koha onto our Website

Hi all, I have recently downloaded Koha on a stand alone machine and added all the necessary data etc... I am not sure how to now make the program accessible via the Internet? Biblio framwork (MARC structure)

I am trying to run KOHA for the first time. Everything seems to have installed correctly and is running well. I have gone step by step through the installation and configuration pages, but now I am having trouble with the Biblio framwork (MARC structure). When I click on it I get the default MARC framework. If i try to edit it or any framework that I create, there are not tags listed. If I try to add a tag, it just ask me to choose a framework and goes back to the previous screen.
