catalogue search problem on koha 2.2.7

sir, we installed koha 2.2.7 on fedora core 5. After adding books using add biblio option in catalogue. we use auto-generated barcode number starting with 1. The book is added . But when search for the book using barcode number or using other fields it is not displayed. It shows 'no results'. how to solve this problem.. how we can change the MARC framework. we edit the MARC and its subfields and we select only some fields that is required for us. Importing MARC21 file leaves out Items information

Why No Discussion Forum?

Hi, I'm a mere newbie here so I apologise for shooting my mouth off ...again.... I'd like to ask the question, why is there no Koha Discussion forum? It's standard practice all over the web, a super efficient, proven paradigm. Are mail lists not a bit archaic in this day and age? I think one of the biggest problems with the current archived list is that it's not searchable and that its organisation is just time-based, rather than being subject/topic based. I't very time consuming to read back through 100's of postings to find out if anything has been posted previously on various issues, epecially for newbies. Koha's not an easy bit of software, but truly wonderful when its up-and-running. It deserves much more exposure. It deserves the best possible support forum. I would imagine the vast majority of folks are just give up on it after tinkering a bit. And putting out the appropriate word-of-mouth 'advertising'... If there is a lack someone willing provide the webspace I'd be prepared to host 'forum.koa.org' Apologies if this has been discussed before. Bo

I've done a Koha setup on Opensolaris (snv_65) with Koha 2.2.9. After some fiddling with the prerequisites I finally came to # perl installer.pl Everyting seems to go smooth until kohaadmin wants to use the database. ............... Creating the MySQL database for Koha... ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'kohaadmin'@'localhost' (using password: YES) DBI connect('Koha:localhost','kohaadmin',...) failed: Access denied for user 'kohaadmin'@'localhost' (using password: YES) at /usr/local/koha/intranet/modules/C4/Context.pm line 411 Can't call method "prepare" on an undefined value at scripts/updater/updatedatabase line 1553. Problem updating database... root@schumi:/opt/local/src/koha-2.2.9# ................ Looks like there are some credentials for kohaadmin that are not set correctly by the install.pl script. Yes, that is the trivial case: just replace the new files from the distro with your templates. But what if (subtle) changes have been made to the templates in the new version? How would you know? And if you do know, how do you merge the changes into your template? Current example: one of the templates had to have one single variable name changed from RESERVES to RESERVE.
