Authority data loss with template encoding utf-8

Hallo, If I use template encoding utf-8 (my database already used that encoding) some subfields are lost if I add or modify authority records. At our library we use Koha ver. 2.2.9 and Marc21. I guess I has to do with the AUTHhtml2xml function in AuthoritiesMarc.pm, but I'm not sure. Anyone had resolved this issue before? Install on Debian Etch

I am running Debian ETCH. I have followed the install instructions as well as installing requisite items using CPAN. I cannot, however, install the last couple. Having run 'perl Makefile.PL', at the end I get: [Mon Feb 18 21:43:35 2008] Makefile.PL: Warning: prerequisite DBD::mysql 4.004 not found. We have 3.0008. need some answers about barcodes

Thank you very much to everyone who responded and made suggestions. I've got a better idea of how to move forward now. We are planning on using 3.0, but we are waiting for the beta version before upgrading. I've already done a bulk import of all my records from the state union catalog. I'm planning to weed as we apply barcodes: before we stick on the barcode we'll consider the value of each book. It is a great opportunity to go through the entire collection, item by item. I think I'll go with dumb barcodes and order a few hundred fewer than our current collection. Does anyone know if we can scan the barcode into the record instead of having to type it? Need some answers about bar-codes

I'm part of a group of libraries in Vermont who are in the process of moving to Koha. Most of the other libraries are already automated, but a few of us are still on card catalogs, so we are starting from scratch. Here are the questions: 1)I've moved some of my marc records into Koha, but the bar code generator in Koha doesn't work for me. Does anyone know what will make this work so I could print my own? 2)If printing my own won't work, I can afford to go and buy barcodes, but I need to know if Koha has any specs on barcodes. Will any convenient variety work, or do I have to do something standard, and if so, what? 3)If I do go and buy barcodes and apply them to my books, how do I link the barcode to the marc record? 4)How about the barcodes for the patron cards? We'll be importing the patron records eventually (they are currently in an Excel spreadsheet) and they'll need to have barcodes attached, too. I assume they should be different from the book barcodes. At our meeting today I was told to start the Patron barcodes with P and the Book barcodes with B, which seems simple enough. Question about Koha Users

I know we just had a great virtual meeting and I'm a bit tired, but my brain is wondering--what about all those onesies and twosies Koha users who are loading records from Z39.50 and LTFL (Library Thing For Libraries) and playing with it (and I use 'playing' in the most serious form) to understand it with the intention and hope to have their libraries at some point migrate? Do they fit in the Koha Project? Just wondering. virtual shelves

When I create new virtual shelves they seem to appear in no particular order – (neither chronologically, nor alphabetically). I cannot see any system there. Is anyone able to tell me please, how to sort them alphabetically? I am using them for reading lists, and students want to be able to get to their paper quickly. KUDOS IRC Meeting, Thursday Feb 14, 2008 @ 3pm EST

Good Afternoon Everyone! Based on the feedback from those of you who responded, Thursday February 14 at 3pm EST works best for most of you. So, let's do it! Before we meet, a few pieces of information: 1. There is NO agenda really. As I've stated previously, many people who couldn't attend the last KUDOS meeting at ALAMW08 requested a venue for online real-time meetings. AND, we've got a little momentum going, so let's let it roll. Additionally, I believe John Brice is putting together a KUDOS meeting at PLA in Minneapolis. [I planned to help him and wrote up a plan, but as soon as I signed on I was given a huge honkin' project (Migrate a site into Drupal--didn't know anything about Drupal--eek!) and couldn't help organize the meeting , but plan to attend. Additionally, I live in Minneapolis, so if any of you plan to attend PLA and want info, let me know. 2. I do have one quasi-agenda item: FaceBook. If you haven't joined the KUDOS FaceBook Group, you may want to check it out. 3. Rachel Hamilton-Williams wrote the following directions for those of us new to IRC. Please read them, if you will, and follow her lead. * For those of you who are going to join the meeting who haven't used IRC before a few tips that might help... You can of course use the cig off the Koha site, but dedicated software is generally going to be better, more robust and less likely to crash on you just when it all gets interesting. We have people who use vIRC, mIRC and xChat (and no doubt others) so feel free to ask for help on list with your setup. I'd recommend getting your irc software setup and have a bit of a practice before the actual meeting. With a bit of IRC software you can set it to log the meeting so that even if you're going to miss the start of the end you can read up on it later. The default "readback" in IRC clients is generally 500 or so lines, I set mine to 5000 so that I can read back on a day/night of chat if I'm in the mood. 4.
