installation problem

Dear Professional I have download koha(2.2.9 version)on 29 february from koha.org.But when I was starting to install my cmputer then there is no any executive file for installation.So i did not install it.and i can not find any user manual for 2.2.9 version. so please help me to install and for use of this software. kulvir singh sandhu_22g(a)rediffmail.com

Facing Issue during Installation of KOHA

Hi, I receive an error message on installation of KOHA on WindowsXP saying "Corrupt Installation File". Please find attached the screenshot of the same and someone please help me out in this regard. Also if possible please let me know from where I can get a good copy of the installable. I had downloaded it from http://www.koha.rwjr.com/ Please help me out at the earliest. Thanks, Sai.

I'm trying to setup fines rules such that a patron gets a 7 day grace period after their due date, then starts getting charged $0.50 every week that the book isn't checked in. (This is for a church library, so the days when a patron can check in a late book are limited. Hence, I only want to bump the fine up every 7 days). So for instance if your book was due on Feb. 1, you should get a grace period for a week. Then, on Feb. 8 you get your first $0.50 fine. A week later on Feb. 15 you get another $0.50 fine. So I setup the fines rules for all types as "0.5,7,7". According to the docs, this should generate a $0.50 fine every 7 days after the 7-day grace period has expired. But when running cronjobs/fines2.pl with a test checkout, it didn't turn out the way I expected. Here are the results. Today is Feb 28 (close-of-business) Book was due on: Feb 27, so fine = $0 (1 day overdue) Feb 26, so fine = $0 (2 days overdue) Feb 25, so fine = $0 (3 days overdue) Feb 24, so fine = $0 (4 days overdue) Feb 23, so fine = $0 (5 days overdue) Feb 22, so fine = $0 (6 days overdue) Feb 21, so fine = $0 (7 days overdue) Feb 20, so fine = $0 (8 days overdue) Feb 19, so fine = $0 (9 days overdue) Feb 18, so fine = $0 (10 days overdue) Feb 17, so fine = $0 (11 days overdue) Feb 16, so fine = $0 (12 days overdue) Feb 15, so fine = $0 (13 days overdue) Feb 14, so fine = $0.50 (14 days overdue)* Feb 13, so fine = $0.50 (15 days overdue) Feb 12, so fine = $0.50 (16 days overdue) Feb 11, so fine = $0.50 (17 days overdue) Feb 10, so fine = $0.50 (18 days overdue) Feb 09, so fine = $0.50 (19 days overdue) Feb 08, so fine = $0.50 (20 days overdue) Feb 07, so fine = $1.00 (21 days overdue)* Feb 06, so fine = $1.00 (22 days overdue) Feb 05, so fine = $1.00 (23 days overdue) Feb 04, so fine = $1.00 (24 days overdue) Feb 03, so fine = $1.00 (25 days overdue) The fine is kicking in on the 14th day, rather than the 7th day as I had intended. Is this a bug, or am I misunderstanding the Koha fine rules? (update: I seem to get what I want setting the rules to "0.5,0,7". But according to the documentation, that's the equivalent of saying "a $0.50 fine after 0 days every 7 days". That doesn't sound right.) Thanks!

Need help configuring Windows Xp to display latin characters like acents, ñ, etc. In Koha admin, in the option "add" bibliography when performing a Z39.50 search the records retrieved that includes accents display incorrectly. Calculating fines?

Hello. In testing Koha 3.0 alpha, I have a user who has checked out a book which is now overdue by 3 weeks. According to the overdue/fine rules, he should be getting charged $0.25/day in overdue fines, but when he logs into his account it shows the overdue book in red but displays "No" in the fines column. Looking for some documentation, I stumbled across a mention of a cron job to calculate fines, at least back in Koha 2.2.x . Assuming it's still done that way, I hunted around the Koha tree and found these likely candidates: <koharoot>/bin/fines.pl <koharoot>/bin/fines2.pl <koharoot>/bin/cronjobs/fines2.pl <koharoot>/bin/cronjobs/fines-sanop.pl My questions are: 1) All 4 of these scripts say "This script is meant to be run nightly out of cron". Which of these should I actually setup to run nightly? 2) Why is a cronjob even necessary? i.e. why can't Koha look at today's date and the books' due dates, then calculate on the fly what the overdue fines are whenever the patron or librarian pulls up a record within the OPAC? Thanks.
