Problem with issuing items

Dear All We have version 2.2.9 installed on Windows XP and have a problem with issuing items. We have completed all the boxes in the parameters /issuing rules table, and have set the status for our library members, but when we try to issue them an item, Koha warns us that confirmation is needed before issuing any item, and that too many issues have already been issued (this particular member doesn't have any items currently on loan) The warning says: Too many issues (already issued / max : a 0 / 0). The system then asks us to confirm this issue or not. If we say yes the issue is successfully completed. Is this normal, or do we need to adjust some more parameters? I notice that someone reported the same problem in the Koha archive in December 2007 but I couldn't find a response. Can anyone help please? We also have another problem (which may be related) with the parameters / issuing rules table. When we complete all the fines boxes in the required format, ie. 50,7,1 (meaning 50 kwacha fine, after 7 days, per day) and save, when we re-open the table, the figures in the fine boxes have changed with 5 zeros being added to the 50 kwacha amount – eg. 5000000 - and this means that there is only space for the first ‘comma’ and the rest of the information has disappeared. Is this affecting the issues as well? I have been successful in installing the Windows version of KOHA and it runs very well. I can export the MARC records to a text file. However, I see no mechanism whereby one could reload the records into another version of KOHA or into a new installation in the event of a crash. Anyone have any ideas on this? Possible patch for Koha 2.2.9 expiry date problems

I meant that I can do backups by exporting the biblio records o a text file. However, if in the future I have to reload the records, how would I do it? Would anyone know? Help with installation on Fedora 8

Hi I have previously installed Koha on machines (twice successfully and twice unsuccessfully), although each time with *considerable* difficulty. I have a working 2.2.9 version on my server (which is also being used for other services). The is a small SOHO network and the server also provides other services to the network. It is to contain a very small (about 600 item) library for personal/professional use. I need to replace the server hardware and am setting up a machine with Fedora 8. I have spent the last four days trying to get Koha installed on this machine (both 2.2.9 and 3.0-beta) without success. I have been trying on a brand new and clean install. However I have not been able to get all the perl modules to install-in particular some of the XML ones, eg. MARC::File::XML. A number of others I have only been able to install with considerable research and manual installation of "dependencies". They quite often suggest that force install is used, but this also always fails. I was once able to get MARC::File::XML to install by downloading source, but the koha installer refused to accept that it was installed. The install-CPAN. pl installer on version 3.0 keeps telling me i do not have rights to access/install the .tgz file, even though I am working as root. I also had considerable trouble with Zebra but eventually was able to install a rpm from the idzebra site from FC6. I think this was successful, but have been unable to confirm its operation. I have got to the end of my tether on this, and have not been able to find any other suggestions on the Internet. I apologise if there is something under my nose that I have not been able to find, but can any one give guidance or point me to sutable resources. I have looked at all the documentation on the koha.org site as well as doing google searches. Installing this program should *not* be this difficult. Barcodes...

For those who struggle with bar-code creation... Scribus from scribus.net will actually output barcodes based on what YOU input... atm I haven't figured out how to script scribus into doing more than one at a time(don't know if it's even possible)... but after spending 1hr today trying to get Koha 3.0 to spit out some bar-codes for me(and failing miserably due to my ignorance of HOW that modules is supposed to function)...I went looking for something that would just create a barcode for me... so I made an 11 row by 3 column template and started inserting my barcodes into each cell...which should print off on some Avery labels. btw just an FYI on the Koha 3.0 beta(release as of 1 week ago today), there is no 'help' in the documentation on the barcode generation page. --Huck

Advanced Search returns no records

Hi all, We are using Koha v. 2.2.9, and have found that the Opac Advanced Search does not return any record when used. Quick Search works fine. It appear the problem is in the sql created in sub create_request in module SearchMarc.pm: select distinct m1.bibid from biblio,biblioitems,marc_biblio,marc_word as m1,marc_subfield_table as m2 where biblio.biblionumber=marc_biblio.biblionumber and biblio.biblionumber=biblioitems.biblionumber and m1.bibid=marc_biblio.bibid and (m1.bibid=m2.bibid) and ((m1.word like 'quantum' and m1.tagsubfield in ('biblio.title')) and (m2.subfieldvalue = 'PI' and concat(m2.tag,m2.subfieldcode) in ('items.holdingbranch'))) order by biblio.title ASC term is quantum PI ../koha/modules/C4/SearchMarc.pm line 274. When I replace 'biblio.title' for its correspondent MARC tag 245a and 'items.holdingbranch' for 952d it all works fine. Is there a fix available? Thanks in advanced for your help. Maximum number of load items

We have installed Koha version 2.2.9 on Windows XP and have set up all required parameters. When we try and issue a book we receive a message saying "too many issues" and shows a maximum of 0/0. We have checked and re-checked our parameters (both for borrower category and item type) and according to the issuing rules the proposed issue should be legal - ie. 7 items for 21 days. Is there another setting that needs to be changed?
