Hello , We are working to shift our library system to KOHA. We had a previously installed system by Data Trek, and it is 12 years old now. Our problem is that we have a barcode present on each book and that was used by the previous system. We want to use the barcodes present on each book , in our new system. But KOHA is generating barcodes automatically and does not give us option of entering barcodes manually while entering the data of each book. Can anyone help us in this regard ? -- Mohsin Irshad

Z search, barcode and admin privilages problems

Hello, I am new to koha.I have managed to install koha on fedora 8. I am having problems with koha 2.2.9. The versions that I am currently using are as follows: OS - Fedora 8 MySQL - Ver 14.12 Distrib 5.0.45 Perl- 5.8.8 The default intranet template is used. not the npl template. but the problems is the same Problem 1. Z39.50 is not working. It displays Internal server error. Problem 2. Barcode Generator is not working. PDF-API2-0.69 package is installed. Problme 3. Is it possible to create different administrator with different privileges. Like assigning circulation & Membership features only for one koha adminstrator and aquisition & catalouging to another koha administrator. I have attached the koha error log for z39.50 and Barcode generator. Any help is appreciated.

Koha Conference

Nicole or anyone: I know that LibLime seems to be feverishly working on 3.0 and then presumably 3.2, so this may not be high on their priority list, but is anyone giving any thought to having a Koha Conference (KohaCon or KoCon) here in the US? We would love to go to Australia, but that's not in the budget this year. Having an ILS conference promotes interaction among the users, who share information and ideas, and also serves as a stimulus for esprit de corps. Just as talking points, would anyone consider some centralized location for an initial conference, like the following: Kansas City (MO or KS) area Wichita Tulsa Omaha Oklahoma City All the above are close to the geographical center of the US, and so minimize travel cost and time on average for US participants. They are also relatively inexpensive vis-a-vis major convention centers like NY, LA, SF or Las Vegas, and are served by major airlines. Unless I am in the dark here and some plans are already being made, I don't see that anything could happen this year, but maybe something modest for spring/summer 2009? Perhaps something in conjunction with a major conference (ALA/PLA/LITA)? I'm well aware something like this would require significant planning and, if not hosted gratis (free gratis) by a library, costs for renting a meeting facility. Maybe we need to start a KUG? A KSIG? Have a bake sale to raise money? Sell t-shirts? (Somebody used to sell Koha t-shirts, right? Haven't noticed those for a while.) Comments and suggestions welcome. Bug?

Hi, Before posting a bug in Bugzilla, does the following Koha "behavior" ring any bells? (Koha 3.0 Beta 2 on FC6) When modifying and saving a biblio record, MARC fields with a popup get overwritten with the value of only one letter or digit. (These include 100, 110, 111, 130 / 440 / 600 610 630 648 650 651 654 655 662 690 / 700 710 711.) The previous value is lost. Note that the database is almost empty. Some records have been manually entered. A few have been added by a conversion script. A few by importing from Z3950 search. For all three types of records this phenomenon occurs. Any clue where to look further to resolve this problem, is highly appreciated. Regards, Marcel de Rooy

Fedora && start-stop-daemon

Hi, Some Koha scripts as koha-zebra-ctl.sh, koha-pazpar2-ctl.sh, koha-zebraqueue-ctl.sh use daemon to (re)start and stop zebrasrv, pazpar2, zebraqueue. This daemon package does not come with Fedora however. Fedora only includes a simple daemon bash function in /etc/init.d/functions. That bash function does not support the arguments given to daemon in the mentioned scripts [and should be sourced first, of course]. Since I could not find a reference to resolving this problem in the Koha INSTALL.Fedora7 doc, I pose this question here: How did anyone of you resolve this under Fedora? Did you edit these scripts or install some daemon package, from where? Thanks! Marcel de Rooy

Hi all, I had already put the question few days back, but didnot get any answer... Please do help me.. I have tried koha2.2.9 on debian etch... installed all perl modules manually(without using MCPAN).. and it worked .. But when I try to login as a user having some pending issues, then gets an error message "internal server error" and log has "enexpected end of script headers" message... When I when I changed the line --(I think 158) ad put a blank array i.e. {} instead of the function call getissues() it could login withiout displaying the pending issues...
