Cannot create koha database during installation

while installing koha-2.2.9 on ubuntu 6.06 i encountered the following... MYSQL ROOT USER PASSWORD To create the koha database, please enter your mysql server's root user password: Password: CREATING DATABASE Creating the MySQL database for Koha... ERROR CREATING DATABASE Couldn't connect to the MySQL server for the reason given above. This is a serious problem, the database will not get installed. Press <ENTER> to continue: i continued with with installation to the end. As a result of the above problem everything seems to work (adding members, searching and importing records from the internet using z39.50) But it doesnt add bibliographic records to the database- whenever i try to add records i get a server error. will be grateful if somebody can sort me out.

I'd be willing to be a moderator on the usage list and can answer cataloging questions. However, I don't have a mailserver, so would use Yahoo!Groups as the host. OPAC "Brief display" problems

The brief (or normal) display in OPAC seems to cause us a lot of headache. First of all there is the thing with 110a field, which isn't shown as author (By), this would be really important to us since we're a music library and we have a lot of authors (bands and such) in 110a field. The there is a issue with 5xx fields. Sometimes Koha shows all the 5xx fields we need (500, 505, 511), but sometimes it only shows 500 or 500 and 505 but not 511. How can this be fixed? Added entries also seem to be a problem. Brief display only shows the last added entry of a personal name, even if there would be more of them. Added entries of corporate names are never shown. Again , as a music library we use these fields a lot and we really need them to be shown in OPAC also. MARC-display of course shows all the fields as it should, but we can't reasonably expect our clients to learn to read MARC... We really need a more clear output. Adding items

Is there a quick way to add one item to each bibliographic record? Barcode duplication in Database

There have been a number of times that I can recall the .org domain failing (not too many from a technical standpoint, mind you) and I'd hate to have a blackout period on ALL help. So, I like the .org for documentation. I like that New Zealand is in the domain for this list - they ought to get credit in perpetuity for their role in things. Just as France for their major role, and all of the other countries kicking in what they can. I wonder at the repercussions of things; I also worry about English being too prevalent, though I'm a perpetrator in that department. I miss not having to struggle a little when I receive something in Spanish over the listserv, or having to pause and assess what non European language I'm in fact failing to read. I don't want folks to suffer too steep a learning curve to be involved, but I cherish an exploratory approach to learning. There are important lessons to be gleaned from following one of the threads in the web. Cheers, Brooke

I agree with those who want three lists (not that I want to subscribe to three more lists but...). As a non-developer person but someone with installation and some programming experience, I often get lost in the PERL-type conversations but enjoy seeing trouble-shooting/tech questions and usage questions - I can relate a lot more to those in my personal experience. fine calculation

Hi, I am using koha2.2.9 on Debian etch... When I try to run fines2.pl, it works but fine does not get calculated..
