Thanks Mason, Andy I must say that I had an easier time installing the KOHA 2.2 versions as well... and I don't even have to worry about Zebra Following your advice I got another error, see below. I don't really know how to proceed from here. Any hints or links are welcome. Unpacking replacement libxslt1-dev ... Owen can you help?
by Lee Phillips 19 Sep '08

19 Sep '08

Owen We are about to go live (next week) with 3.0. We would like to add database links to our OPAC. We have gif of the buttons and the links to the sites but I don't know where to put the gif and hot links to show up in the OPACNav. Can you give me a suggestion? Also we are interested in adding the "book covers of the most popular books" to our OPAC page and Bev said you did the dev on that for NPL...anyway to co-op that for use by other libraries? Serials in multi-branch libraries
by Owen Leonard 18 Sep '08

18 Sep '08

Since upgrade time is approaching, we're re-evaluating possible use of Koha's Serials module to manage our magazine subscriptions. Right off the bat I'm confused about something: How do you handle a subscription if it is expected that you'll receive X copies of each issue? If I enter a serial record for Time Magazine, I need to tell Koha that we'll get 7 copies of the new issue each week. Can Koha do that? minor issue: NO_LIBRARY_SET
by Krishnan Mani 18 Sep '08

18 Sep '08

Hello, i have a single library defined in Koha. Whenever i log in to the staff client as a superlibrarian, it still says "NO_LIBRARY_SET" in the header. i then select the one library there is, and i log out, hoping that will make the choice permanent. But this is again lost when i log out and login again. I don't remember facing this problem with the 2.2.9 install i had, even with multiple libraries. Not that its inconvenient, i am just wondering if something's not setup right. Thanks and regards, krishnan mani Pune, India Unlimited freedom, unlimited storage. Embedding google analytics javascript
by Krishnan Mani 18 Sep '08

18 Sep '08

Hello, i'd like to use Google analytics to track visitors to OPAC for our library on the internet. This requires embedding a small snippet of javascript. i know there's a system preference available (System > OPAC > opacuserjs) where i can insert the snippet. Is that the recommended route? Or should i manually insert this into opac-main.pl or some such page that typically "includes" all the other content i ask because i don' think i need the script on each and every page. About patron password strength
by Krishnan Mani 18 Sep '08

18 Sep '08

Hello, i am aware of the system preference that allows specifying a minimum length for patron passwords. i haven't dived into the code yet, but if someone that knows can save me some time: Perhaps Koha uses a regular expression of some kind that can just as easily be modified to also require, for example, some combination of symbols, digits and mix of lower and uppercase alphabets? i am sure that some such customization probably needs a good amount of testing and is not easily exposed as a configurable system preference just yet. Please give me your knowledge and thoughts. Thanks and regards, krishnan Pune, India Unlimited freedom, unlimited storage. Error adding patron
by Krishnan Mani 18 Sep '08

18 Sep '08

Hello, When trying to add a patron, i get an error screen which reads like... can't find an executable sendmail at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Letters.pm line 21 and so on. i was assuming i'd just use postfix in place of sendmail, but it looks like this module needs sendmail and only sendmail. Is that right? The error disappears when i install sendmail. i wanted to think twice before installing sendmail on my internet server, because of its known vulnerabilities. Some more information: this error appears irrespective of whether i have "AutoEmailOpacUser" preference turned on.. Thanks and regards, krishnan mani Pune, India Unlimited freedom, unlimited storage.
