Hi, All -- We're still doing in the midst of our recon project & I'd like to do some batch editing of our MARC records before importing them into Koha. A few questions: What's the purpose of the 994 tag? Here are a few examples from existing records: 994 \\ $aX0 $bHSA 994 \\ $aC0 $bHSA 994 \\ $aE0 $bHSA Re: 952 subfields: I'm planning to omit data for the $0, $1, $4, & $7 subfields on the assumption that Koha will automatically leave these blank (or set to 0). Is this a safe assumption? The Item edit interface does not list the $6, $9 or $r subfields. Can someone explain the purpose of these, & whether it would be important/ helpful for me to do something with these before importing the records into Koha? Darla, I don't believe Tag 521 is zebra searchable by default. Unhiding subfields in a MARC framework

I'm trying to edit one of our custom frameworks and I can't figure out how to ensure that one of the subfields is always visible. Right now 942$n only displays if there is data in it. I have to click the tag name to expand it. In the "Tag 942 Subfield Constraints" form under "Advanced constraints" it has hidden:0 which seems correct based on the online help: 0 => OPAC Intranet Editor !Collapsed But it is collapsed in the editor. Dear All We are having problems downloading records from library of congress. We suspect that it may be due to the speed of our internet connection. Has anyone else experienced this problem? speeding things up--barcoding our collection

At long last my library is starting to barcode our collection. A little background: Most of the catalog already consists of marc records in the state union catalog. The Dept. of Libraries has kindly loaded these records on a disk and sent them off to be loaded into Koha. Our collection is not barcoded (we are still a manual circulation library) and our task is to stick a barcode in every book and link that barcode to the record. We will also be tossing records that don't match any physical objects and adding records for items that need one. The problem: I'm trying to think of a way to avoid having to do a search to bring up each record. We'll be adding the majority of the records in shelf-list order and it would save a lot of time to be able to work in a table in the same order. Scan in the barcode, add the call number info, take care of a couple of other details, save the record. Has anyone else faced this problem? What solutions have you found?
