Thank you, Cory, I would be interested in your fellow. To LibLime's credit, I'm in the Newsgroup because they pointed me here when it quickly became apparent that their services were too expensive for our teacher training college and related organisations. We use a homegrown Microsoft Access db at present (with barcode scanner!), so exporting would be no problem (even I could handle this end of it!). Just time and energy... Please pass along the referral offline if it's not appropriate to do so within the newsgroup. I've previously sent in an error I receive when trying to look at a detailed record in the OPAC. Koha error The following fatal error has occurred: Can't "next" outside a loop block at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/XSLT.pm line 65. I think this has to do with the frameworkcode which is currently not mapped in my Koha to MARC mapping tables. The relevant section (I think) is the following and line 65 is the #FIXME: wish there was a better way to handle exceptions. So, do I need to populate frameworkcode and if so, what do I populate with as I am using the default framework for most cataloging. sub transformMARCXML4XSLT { my ($biblionumber) = @_; my $record = GetMarcBiblio($biblionumber); my $biblio = GetBiblioData($biblionumber); my $frameworkcode = GetFrameworkCode($biblionumber); my $tagslib = &GetMarcStructure(1,$frameworkcode); my @fields; # FIXME: wish there was a better way to handle exceptions eval { @fields = $record->fields(); };

Counting the cost

I am considering Koha for our very small libraries (Fewer than 50 transactions/day). We might get some help doing the initial setup on a CentOS 5.2 server. We're wanting a basic install, allowing patrons to do online search of catalogues of multiple collections in a single library, and multiple libraries belonging to legally separate NGOs. +Once set up, is it possible that it could need very little support/maintenance? We could pay something for set up, but ongoing annual support fees we'd like to avoid. +And I suppose that support could be provided remotely, perhaps on an hourly basis, with the exception of possibly needing to reboot the server. +We have limited IT skills inhouse and NO full time library staff. + Staff who do the cataloguing would not be professional librarians. +We've developed our own cataloguing system, not standard in any way - can Koha work with this? Maybe over time we'd like to standardize. +If so, the chaser question is that each very small (NGO/school) library has its own cataloguing system: would this be a problem for Koha - single install, multiple administrators (one at each library). I don't want to bite off more than we can chew, and I don't want to leave my NGO in the lurch after I'm no longer employed there. I have about three months to implement something, and make sure it's stable. Thanks very much for feedback, Nelson Administrator / resident techie Centre for Creative Education Cape Town, South Africa www.cfce.org.za

Use a free service like no-ip.com ( http://www.no-ip.com/services/managed_dns/free_dynamic_dns.html ) to create a hostname that changes when your dynamic IP changes. Many of these services can also do a port-80 redirect to allow you to server web pages on a system if your ISP blocks standard web servers. >>> john smith <smith_me(a)live.com> 02/18/09 1:50 AM >>> HI to all I have koha 3 on Ubuntu 8 and I have adsl connection with dynamic IP address (router IP ). by Saleem ahmad 18 Feb '09

Hi, Someone can please help me in converting the data from Access based software into Koha ILS. I am using Koha 2.2.8-Win-RO, running on windows XP Professional: When I upload our marc.data file into command prompt, it failed to aborted and give an error. I attached here the error file which it displayed in the command prompt. I used the Marc.Editor to import my data. Generating Reports for PAC searches and holds?
by Jerry McCulley 17 Feb '09

17 Feb '09

I'm new to Koha and after playing with the Reports module on the live demo, I have a question that most of you can probably answer. How does one generate a report for the searches performed or holds requested on the PAC (public access catalog interface)? In the Reports module, I see lots of reports, but nothing that lets me run a report on the number of searches performed during a specified period or the number of holds. I see you can create a query from SQL but I'm not sure what table, fields, etc to use. Is this possible? It seems that it is in some automation systems. We are looking at ways to document statistics the show our grantee the usage of Koha. Bulkimport Authorities and Biblios
by Beda Szukics 17 Feb '09

17 Feb '09

Hi I'm migrating my old databass to koha. So far I have managed some steps :-) I have imported authority records and the corresponding biblographic records. I'm not able to search the authority record. They are only displayed as a list if I leave the search field empty, but there are no bibliographic records connected. What do I have to do? Thank you for your hints Beda
