Hidden MARC subfields

We're converting from version 2 to 3 and our dewey is 942k and item type is 942c. We have them on tab 5 in the editor. They don't show up on the screen. They're in the source but the display style is set to none. We haven't changed the hidden setting in the framework and it is currently set to 0. Koha Project Announces KohaCon 2009

February 3, 2009-- The creators and developers of Koha, the first open source Integrated Library System (ILS), today announced that KohaCon 2009-- a conference for current and interested users of the Koha Integrated Library System--- will be held in Plano, Texas, April 16 &17, 2009. KohaCon 2009 is the sequel to the first ever KohaCon--held in Paris, France in 2006-- which brought together users and developers worldwide. KohaCon 2009 will feature an international slate of speakers (both Koha users and active Koha contributors) conducting presentations and workshops on a diverse range of topics. Topics will include technical information on how to develop for the various modules of Koha, support options, and even panel discussions featuring users of Koha talking about their experiences with the software. "We expect this event to have wide appeal," said Paul Poulain, BibLibre, CEO and Release Manager of Koha 2.x "The conference is for both techies and non-techies. In addition to presentations on the technical side of Koha, the conference will serve as a hands-on introduction to how users and developers around the world collaborate to make the Koha open-source software possible," Poulain explained. "Kohacon 2009 will be huge, everything is bigger in Texas. Plus you get to hear from some of the veteran Koha developers, complete with funny accents. What more could you want?" said Chris Cormack, one of the original authors of the Koha version 1.0, and current Translation Manager for the Project. This is a FREE conference. Helo! We have instaled Koha few days ago on a Debian Etch server (perl 5.8.8), so it's running perfectly. Now I am trying to translate koha to spanish following the information I've found in /koha/koha-3.00.00/misc/translator/translator_doc.txt koha:~/koha/koha-3.00.00/misc/translator# ls install-code.pl po stats.pl text-extract.pl TmplTokenizer.pm TmplTokenType.pm translator_doc.txt VerboseWarnings.pm install.pl rebuild_lang.sh text-extract2.pl tmpl_process3.pl TmplToken.pm translator_doc.html update.pl xgettext.pl When I run the script .... koha:~/koha/koha-3.00.00/misc/translator# ./tmpl_process3.pl install --input=/usr/share/koha/intranet/htdocs/intranet-tmpl/prog/en -o=/usr/share/koha/intranet/htdocs/intranet-tmpl/prog/es -s=po/es-ES-i-staff-t-prog-v-3000000.po -r -q ... I get some warnings: Charset in/out: UTF-8 at ./tmpl_process3.pl line 257. % s: Unknown or unsupported format specification I think that the first one ("Charset in/out: UTF-8 at ./tmpl_process3.pl line 257") is not really a problem, just information about locale. But the second line ( % s: Unknown or unsupported format specification) is really a warning about an error, but I don't know exactly what does it mean and wich is the solution Do you know whether it is a bug or I'm doing something wrong? I emailed this to Oliver direct, but in case his junk mail grabs it or others have input, I copy it here. I am setting up a new multi-location KOHA, and am almost ready to print labels at the first location. I'm a non-librarian type trying to learn all this. Help! ------------- I am getting ready to start printing labels in a new KOHA installation, and saw your post (below) about the Gaylord label - a mixed label format (OCLC I think its called) that KOHA has no settings for (at least default ones). 1. I see you set up your own format (template) - could you send that to me? 2. What info did you place on your wide label? One thing I see as a problem is if you print a spine label and a bar code label, its difficult to know what book it is for without a title or author on either label. And I don't think I've seen a way to add title to the barcode label. We have over 1000 on this initial print. 3. In the smaller barcode numbers, they don't line up right: two digit barcodes run off the right side of the label, three digit barcodes are flush right, and four digit barcodes seem more centered. Did you run into that problem? Koha 3.0 on Redhat ES4.0?

Has anyone successfully installed Koha on Redhat ES4? I am having a lot of trouble with libicu which depends on GLIBC being versin 2.4. However, the lastest version, on the Redhat Network, for Redhat 4 is GLIBC-2.3. It doesn't like being altered in any way either. Error: * libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.4) is needed by libicu-3.6-18.fc7.i386 rtld(GNU_HASH) is needed by libicu-3.6-18.fc7.i386* Has anyone any suggestions? Thanks

PTFS Support for the Koha Community

Dear members of the Koha user community. Please note that the press release posted to the Koha.org site on January 29th was inappropriate and deceptive. Here are the facts: PTFS submitted an application to be included on the Koha support list Web page on 11/03/2008 and we fully complied with the policies posted at that time. The rules to allow a company to be listed on that page were subsequently changed after our application was submitted and we received a rejection email on 11/06/2008. PTFS sent another email on 1/15/09 indicating that we were now ready to resubmit our application and asking for clarification on the latest policies. We are now able to comply with the revised rules that now include client contracts, references and a working Koha installation. We fully intend to resubmit our application. Note that PTFS is well equipped to support this marketplace and we are just beginning to gear up to do so. We currently employ over twenty librarians on staff who implement, configure, train and support software management solutions for libraries. We also have a software development group well suited to support Koha development. I have been advised that there are community concerns over code submission. While we have not yet completed a Koha development project, we fully intend to provide the source code to our customers for submission to the community. PTFS, Inc. is a company that has been in the information industry since 1995. We have been installing and supporting commercial ILS systems for over a dozen years and are now focusing our expertise to provide high quality support and development to the Open Source ILS community. We also think we can add significant value to the library community by integrating our ArchivalWare content management system with the Koha Open Source ILS.
