catalogin, dewey, and marc-to-koha mapping

We have a small library using dewey. I'm trying to figure out how to get dewey decimal numbers into Koha without error. BACKGROUND: MARC tags ---------------------------- When we do a z39.50 search we often don't get the dewey decimal number. According to http://www.loc.gov/marc/bibliographic/bdsummary.html there are the following dewey related MARC fields: 082 Dewey Decimal Classification Number 083 Additional Dewey Decimal Classification Number 090 - Shelf Location (AM) [OBSOLETE, 1977] [USMARC only] 090 - Local Call Number [OBSOLETE, 1982] 091 - Microfilm Shelf Location (AM) [OBSOLETE, 1977] [USMARC only] 852 Location I have also found fields like this at some libraries: 092 _a428.2 (tag 92, subfield a = dewey decimal number) _bOCO (tag 92, subfiedl b = dewey decimal number) Koha has this mapping by default: tag 952, subfield o = items.itemcallnumber (full call number) BACKGROUND: our initial import --------------------------------------------- Originally we imported records from Athena. Athena uses tag 952, subfields k,h,i,m (k=Call number prefix, h=Classification part, i=Item part,m=Call number suffix). We mapped (Koha tag 952, subfield o) to (Athena tag 852, concatenation of subfields k,h,i,m). We used this script:http://contribs.koha.org/revision_view.php?rid=15. (Note: I created this script and uploaed it to contribs.koha.org. If the script doesn't map the fields correctly I need to fix it before my mistakes cause problems for others.) Question: How do I do the mapping? ----------------------------------------------------- Now it looks like I need to 1) map some dewey related MARC tag/subfield (which one?) to a items.itemcallnumber 2) make that newly mapped MARC tag/subfield mandatory When I do this, what happens to my previous records which had the default MARC mapping ([tag 952, subfield o]= items.itemcallnumber) ? -- Please avoid sending me Word or PowerPoint attachments. Install Failing On "make test"

Error when viewing records

Hi. Our upgrade to 3.0 went swimmingly. Everything was running fine. But now when we search the catalog we can get summary results, but when you click to get detailed results I get a couple of different errors.. Koha error The following fatal error has occurred: Can't "next" outside a loop block at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/XSLT.pm line 65. I can add the title to the cart and then click on the record to see detailed results, but when I want to switch to MARC, I get this... Koha error The following fatal error has occurred: Can't call method "as_formatted" on an undefined value at /usr/share/koha/opac/cgi-bin/opac/opac-showmarc.pl line 88. Unfortunately, I am not as well versed in PERL to understand. Hints for fixing would be greatly appreciated. LDAP Not Replicating to Koha DB?

Thanks to James I have managed to get Koha authenticating against LDAP. However, I can't get Koha to replicate the LDAP users across. Below is a copy of my koha-conf.xml section for LDAP. As you can see replication and updates are turned on. I removed some of the mappings to try and create some default entries but still nothing comes across. The LDAP user can login fine but their Patron record is black via OPAC and there are no updates made at all to the Koha database. Please help: MARC error..cannot view in catalog

Dear all, I have problem with koha installed in my XP server. I am trying to add the biblio, and it work.. Sure, it took me a while to get it working, but we have it working now. We don't want to add new users or update existing users. Helping public libraries automate & standardize with Koha..

Hi, We have established www.granthalaya.org a union catalouge of public libraries in Konkan region Maharashtra, India. We have five libraries to start with.We aim to cover as many of the hundreds of public libraries in the region as possible. The site is on Koha 3.0. Our heartfelt thanks to the Koha community for making this possible. Through it we also aim to help public libraries in the region to automate and standardize their operations by helping them switch-to / install Koha, help them to migrate their data from other software to koha, help them convert their Indian Language catalouges into Unicode, train the staff to use koha for all library operations.
