Sure, it took me a while to get it working, but we have it working now. In our koha-conf.xml, we have this section in the config section (between <config> and </config> near the end of the file): <useldapserver>1</useldapserver> <ldapserver id="ldapserver"> <hostname>LDAPSERVERNAMEHERE:389</hostname> <base>dc=DOMAIN,dc=COM</base> <user> CN=[USER THAT CAN BROWSE ACTIVE DIRECTORY],OU=[OU OF USER (MULTIPLE ENTRIES IF NESTED OU)],DC=DOMAIN,DC=COM </user>  <pass>[PASSWORD OF USER]</pass> <replicate>0</replicate>  <update>0</update>  <mapping>         <userid is="samAccountName" ></userid> <password is="" ></password>    </mapping> </ldapserver> Most of the attributes are commented out because we populate our users in Koha from a different system and they only log in using their AD password. We don't want to add new users or update existing users. Then in Auth_with_ldap.pm at line 102 (thanks to this thread http://lists.koha.org/pipermail/koha-devel/2008-September/008355.html) Change these lines: my $userldapentry = $search->shift_entry; my $cmpmesg = $db->compare( $userldapentry, attr=>'userpassword', value => $password ); if ($cmpmesg->code != 6) { warn "LDAP Auth rejected : invalid password for user '$userid'. " . description($cmpmesg); return 0; } To this: my $userldapentry = $search->shift_entry; my $dbuser = Net::LDAP->new( [$prefhost] ); $res = $dbuser->bind( $userldapentry, password => $password ); unless ( $db && ! $res->code ) { warn "LDAP Auth rejected : invalid password for user '$userid'"; return 0; } We had an additional problem with the Auth_with_ldap.pm automatically updating the card number with the user's login. We have existing cards with specific numbers that we're importing, so I had to disable a couple of other lines (lines 116 and 117 in Auth_with_ldap.pm, before the first edit.) #($config{update} ) and my $c2 = &update_local($userid,$password,$borrowernumber,\%borrower) || ''; #($cardnumber eq $c2) or warn "update_local returned cardnumber '$c2' instead of '$cardnumber'"; Hopefully this helps. Helping public libraries automate & standardize with Koha..

Hi, We have established www.granthalaya.org a union catalouge of public libraries in Konkan region Maharashtra, India. We have five libraries to start with.We aim to cover as many of the hundreds of public libraries in the region as possible. The site is on Koha 3.0. Through it we also aim to help public libraries in the region to automate and standardize their operations by helping them switch-to / install Koha, help them to migrate their data from other software to koha, help them convert their Indian Language catalouges into Unicode, train the staff to use koha for all library operations. Hello friends, In helping a friend install Koha in a location with no Internet access whatsoever, we created some DVDs with everything to get Koha up and running. Soon, more people wanted Koha and we ended up making copies and adding some video tutorials, to make a complete self-sufficient package. Now, we want to make the whole deal available to anyone that would like to try Koha through an initiative: "k's helping hand" So, come and get your Koha discs hot off the burners! no copies available in OPAC

I'm sure I am overlooking something basic. The videorecordings are showing as not available in the library's OPAC. I suspect that there is something the matter with circulation rules and item type. The Item Types and Circulation Codes for VHS & DVDs is VIS, the "not for loan" box is not checked and there is 1 renewal. VHS & DVDs are set up for a 7 day loan period under Circulation and Fines Rules. What I have in the biblio is as follows: 942$c VHS & DVDs 952$y VHS & DVDs Fortunately there are only 6 items in the catalog so if I must change them all, it'll not be too big a task. What must I change so that our videorecordings show that they are available for loan? We are Koha 3.0 using Debian. installing koha 3.0 on ubuntu

I am installing koha 3.0 on ubuntu 8.10 in this i had completed first four steps in Blazing Moon i.e upto webmin after this in the packages installation, in the topic "install the packages" the following step is not working "dpkg --set-selections < install_misc/debian.packages " it just says that "bash: install_misc/debian.packages: No such file or directory" pls help me what is the error and how should i have to recover this error -- by kamalakkannan @ kishor

Offline Circulation Uploader

Hi there, I would like to start using the Koha Offline Circulation utility, but when I click on the Offline Circulation File (.koc) Uploader in Koha I get the following message: An Error has Occurred! Error 404 - This error means that the link was broken and that the page doesn't exist - To report this error, you can email the Koha Administrator<cclkoha(a)gmavt.net> . - Use top menu bar to navigate to another part of Koha. Do I need to enable something for this link to find the proper page? Debian Etch Perl 5.8 Koha v. 3.01.00.002 & 3.01.00.012 Thanks for any insight.

OCLC enhanced content & 856 tag

Some of the records we copy catalog via OCLC have URL's in 856 for enhanced content (covers, sample text, etc.), which don't lead anywhere. I presume this is because of an invalid key. Is there a work-around? Are we better off simply deleting the field & relying on Koha's Amazon/ Google services for enhanced content?
