Sirsi to Koha data migration
by Lee Phillips 02 Nov '09

02 Nov '09

Hello all, I would like to hear from any libraries or consortia that migrated to Koha from Sirsi. I am most interested in the ease of gaining access to bibliographic and user records for conversion into Koha. I know of one school district in Montana that had trouble accessing their records and had to pay for extraction from Sirsi. If your library has made this migration and would share your experience with me I would be grateful. Best Lee Phillips Butte Silver Bow Public Library Butte, MT

Including Login to access the OPAC
by Anselm Olweny 02 Nov '09

02 Nov '09

Dear Colleagues, I would like to make my koha library catalogue accessible over the internet but at the same time I would like to secure it such that only authorised persons can search and use the catalogue. I specifically would like that when a user accesses the catalogue they initially receive a login screen just as is the case with the staff interface. Could anyone kindly guide me on how I may achieve this. Hope to hear from you. Before hitting "send" button please have a look at "To", "Cc", "Bcc". No package idzebra available. This shows that package "idzebra" is not available in CentOS repos or it may be available with some other name in CentOS repos. Try to search term "zebra" in repos to find out whether the package you are looking for is available or not. "yum search zebra" should help you. -- With Regards Abhishek Amberkar Learn to appreciate the beauty within... Sent from Mumbai, MH, India

Please Help: Authority Search - Not returning Result. Zebra Index Picks up 4 Authority Records
by Susan Mustafa 02 Nov '09

02 Nov '09

Hi everyone, I hope I can get a reply soon as it seems this is a very urgent issue and stopping me from going live. Please note the following problem: Simple Explanation: I create a new "Personal Name" authority framework, add only enter "Susan M" in Tab 1, Tag @a --Save Do rebuild_zebra -a -r <-- For rebuilding Authority Indexes. It says exported 4 records, which is correct. I created 4 Authority Records in Koha. Search Authority in Koha - Drop down [Personal Name]-Contains- Susan <-- Returns Nothing. ----------------------- Biblios works perfectly fine. Only Authorities do not show in Koha. I really did do my best, but I can't seem to solve it on my own. So any help is greatly appreciated. en / fr for Zebra Indexing during install
by Rick Welykochy 01 Nov '09

01 Nov '09

Hi all, We have a Koha migration from 229 to 300. The site is in English but the database contains both English and French text. During the install answered the Zebra Indexing question as "en", i.e. Primary language for Zebra indexing (en, fr) [en] My question to the list: is it important to specify "fr" if there are french language titles / data in the biblio data? I ask because we are now getting errors when we try to rebuild the index from scratch, i.e. [warn] Record didn't contain match fields in (bib1,Local-number) cheers rickw -- _________________________________ Rick Welykochy || Praxis Services You got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda. -- George W Bush
