How would I exclude NULL values from the author, title, or isbn fields in the query. SELECT b.biblionumber, b.author, b.title, SUBSTR(i.isbn,1,10) FROM biblio b, biblioitems i WHERE b.biblionumber = i.biblionumber; I know it should be easy, but I'm not having much luck.

Barcodes Scanners
by Roche III, Edward 03 Nov '09

03 Nov '09

Good Morning All I have an issue/curious question. Is there a difference in barcode format "Code 39 Mod 10" and normal "Code 39"? The reason I ask is because by mistake we created half of our barcodes in Code 39 format and the rest in Code 39 Mod 10 format. The weird part is the scanner is reading both and entering the correct value for each but when you submit the Code 39 Mod 10 it says it can't find the barcode but if you scan the Code 39 barcode it works fine. Any ideas? Thanks Ed Edward J. Roche, MCP Network Administrator Solanco School District 717.786.2151 x2437 "At the End of the Day, Did You Play to Win or Not to Lose?"

Re: [Koha] Please Help: Authority Search - Not returning Result. Zebra Index Picks up 4 Authority Records
by Susan Mustafa 03 Nov '09

Good Day Frederic, Kindly tell me how do I disable the Authority? in Koha? Right now, if we try to create a new Marc Record, start from empty record, and go to the tag that have to put a Author Personal Name for example, it GREYS the box, and ONLY a popup window can be used to search for an already existing authority?? Can you tell me how I disable this popup window and simply make Koha understand simple text rather than Authority?? I hope I am making sense. Would you recommend that I re-install to keep with future changes?? Because it took me a long time to setup Koha, since I am a beginner and really worried that it would delay the project from going live even more. Someone today in IRC mentioned that I am using the old version of idzebra when I should be using idzebra-2.0, so I think tomorrow morning my time i will try that..and keep you guys on the loop. Please do remember me if you come across aything related to this, Thanks alot 2009/11/2 Frédéric DEMIANS <f.demians(a)tamil.fr> > Your Koha installation is messed up for whatever reason. SIP server and losing current location
by Nijnatten, Jan van 03 Nov '09

03 Nov '09

Hi all, We have set up Koha (latest, 3.00.04) on Debian lenny. We are also running the SIP server. When we connect to the SIP server (either via telnet or raw) and we checkin a book the "current location" field is set to empty. Why? How do we prevent that? Checking out after that gives a branch error (ofcourse). Anyone know wher to look for the cause? best regards, Jan Jan van Nijnatten MSc | information architect | Philips Research The information contained in this message may be confidential and legally protected under applicable law. Using KOHA for textbooks?
by Anna Kågedal 02 Nov '09

02 Nov '09

Hi, Is anyone using KOHA for textbooks? We have been using KOHA for our schools library books since July and it works well. We are now planning to import our textbooks as well, so that we have everything in one system. However - I suddenly got nervous. Is this a good idea? Anyone have experience with this? For example - the global due date that you can set in KOHA towards the end of a semester - will then affect all books in all libraries if I am correct? Or is there a way to put a global due date for only one library? This is because we always have one final date to return books for the semester for library books, and another for textbooks. And if I then set at global due date for the library books - that will affect the duedate for textbooks as well. Another thing that I've been thinking about: Check out date - you would have to specify a due date (since it can't be a certain loan period for textbooks, since it is actually a specific date when all textbooks needs to be back, regardless of when it was checked out) and click "remember for session" for every student that you check out books to if . Or is there a way to set "remember for session" - meaning - as long as I am logged in or unclick the button - and not as it is now - as long as this is the same patron? (Note: we check out all the textbooks to 600 students in 4 days - it gets VERY busy - and several small time thieves will severely slow us down.) Our plan was to create a specific library for textbooks, and combine that with a textbook itemtype. The barcodes are also different, and at the moment we don't have a Shelving location for textbooks. Finally I'd like to take the opportunity now to thank all of you who has answered my questions in the past and who answers in the future.
