How to reduce Koha installation time?
by Vimal Kumar 13 Nov '09

13 Nov '09

Dear Friends, What about reducing installation time of Koha? While koha installation, it takes too much time for copying various language template files from package to installation location. Can we delete all other template files from koha-tmpl folder retaining one language template (e.g. English)? Deletions of template files make any error while installation? If it does not make any problems, how can we delete the template folders? If the solution works, we can save lot of time for koha installation in the context of training programs and workshops. I expect a good solution from Koha users and developers. -- Vimal Kumar V. Asst. Koha 229 to Koha 304 ... perhaps the fasttrack was a bad track
by Rick Welykochy 13 Nov '09

13 Nov '09

Hi all, I am posting this to both Koha and Koha-devel. We are upgrading a Koha/2.2.9 instance to Koha/3.0.4. We followed the instructions at <http://wiki.koha.org/doku.php?id=22_to_30> to accomplish this feat. But we are having troubles, i.e. as posted earlier, catalogue searching fails when restricted by Branch or restricted to "items available". There is a suspect line in opac_search.pl (418): for (my $i=0;$i<=@servers;$i++) which loops one too many times ;) Anyway, as well, the build_holds_queue.pl script is falling over in cron with Undefined subroutine&main::GetBranchItemRule. My question is this. To perform such an upgrade, is it okay to follow the procedure as documented in the Wiki (22_to_30)? An alternative that we have discussed is to do this: 1. Upgrade from 2.2.9 to 3.0.0 (using the procedure on the Wiki) 2. Then upgrade from 3.0.0 to 3.0.1 3. Then upgrade from 3.0.1 to 3.0.2 (or is that 3.0.3?) 4. Finally upgrade from 3.0.3 to 3.0.4 Any informed opinions out there on how to do this properly? Or perhaps the above errors I mentioned are endemic to Koha 3.0.4 and we are barking up the wrong tree. thanks in advance rickw -- _________________________________ Rick Welykochy || Praxis Services Tech support: Click on the 'my computer' icon on to the left of the screen. Funny. I get more spam from other lists than the google group lists I am on. Also i like the added features and "single signon" that google groups offers. To each, there own, I guess. Koha 3.00.04 upgrade - build_holds_queue.pl dies
by Rick Welykochy 12 Nov '09

12 Nov '09

Hi all, We've upgraded a Koha/3.00.01 to 3.00.04 using the upgrade instructions in INSTALL (i.e. basically make upgrade). The holds script (cronjob) is now failing, with the following two errors cropping up: Undefined subroutine&main::GetBranchItemRule called at /usr/share/koha/bin/cronjobs/holds/build_holds_queue.pl line 197. and DBD::mysql::db do failed: Table 'hold_fill_targets' doesn't exist The second error is very strange, as I cannot find that table in any Koha 3 installation i have looked at. cheers rickw -- _________________________________ Rick Welykochy || Praxis Services Tech support: Click on the 'my computer' icon on to the left of the screen. US Koha Users Meeting
by vtl＠scls.lib.wi.us 12 Nov '09

12 Nov '09

At the KUDOS meeting at ALA last summer there was a great deal of interest in holding a US Koha users group in spring 2010. The focus would be on Koha users coming together to help each other out. Vendor and developer participation would be more than welcome, but the meeting would be coordinated by users and most presentations would be done by users. If you are interested in hosting a US Koha users group in spring 2010, please fill out this form. If you are interested in evaluating meeting sites and/or helping out with planning the meeting, please let me know. It will take lots of people to get this done! http://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?hl=en&formkey=ck92M05ITG5RVUl2VlNvT… .. We are respectful of the KohaCon that is planned for fall 2010 in New Zealand and this meeting is not meant to compete with KohaCon. In fact, many US users hope to be able to go to KohaCon in addition to or instead of a US Koha users meeting. -- Vicki Teal Lovely Helping our 52 member libraries provide the best possible service to the public.
