I believe at least one NEKLS library uses self-check. You might want to check with NEKLS about that. We have random disconnects with the errors of either "Connection to ACS Shutdown" or "Send Expects Failed". One self check had the send expects failed error for 2 days, then magically connected. Now a different self check is having send expects failed. Over a weeks time frame every self check has 3 to 4 random disconnects that can be rest and fixed and/or sometimes they are out for a day or two. (We have talked to 3M and have worked with them also.) Thanks. Getting OPACFRBRizeEditions to work

Hi all, At Oslo public library we are running a Koha installation and we've tried to turn on all the nice functionalities in Koha such as the frbrising tool, but do not get the same result as Nelsonville public library. At first we thought it might have something to do with the xisbn service (little representation of Norwegian isbns), but this is not the case, there are enough Norwegian isbns for it to work at least on one title. Then we removed the hyphens in isbns, but this didn't change anything. So I was wondering if any of you have had any problems getting this to work? Naming Practices: Authorized Values & Patron Attributes

What are "best practices" when creating new categories for Authorized Values and new codes for Patron Attributes? By accident I found that the maximum number of characters for a new Authorized Values category is 10. -- Nicole: Can this type of info be added to the documentation please? Suspect there is a maximum number of characters for new Patron Attributes codes but prefer not to create test codes until I find one which is too long. Anyone know what the max number is? Also suspect that there might be problems with SQL statements if any special characters are used in the categories and codes, other than perhaps "_" and "." (underscore and period). Is it best to use only alpha characters when naming categories and codes? Thanks for any insights and guidance. Chris Cormack is the present translation manager for Koha. basically he is the guy that all the localization teams need to speak with. He is also one of the original developers of Koha. Problems with bulkmarkimport.pl or zebrasrv or something...

Hello, I can't seem to figure out what the problem is with my configuration, I can't find any of my records when I do a search in the catalog. labels for items added after a date

I have tried to use the "Added on or after date" feature on "Search for items to add to Batch" and get nothing. No errors on screen or in the error log. I've tried this on 3.00.02 and 3.00.04 Has anyone else used this feature? Any suggestions. Thanks Bob

Been playing with this for awhile SELECT CONCAT('http://images.amazon.com/images/P/'isbn'.01.TZZZZZZZ.jpg') FROM isbn_experiment LIMIT 10; Seems straightforward prepend and append the amazon url's for cover art to an isbn. Yet I only get the first part not isbn nor the end. Done several permutations but I ain't getting anywhere.

G'day I am working for a local library and they are concerned about moving to OpenSource in case it is not compatible with BiblioCommons. From what I have read it looks like there should be no problem. Are there any direct references I can cite to prove this? problems moving records from reservoir into catalogue

Hello, I have managed to export my old filemaker database into a spreadsheet which I then used with MarcEdit to map the fields. Having then complied the file into a marc file, I tried to import it into koha. The process goes smoothly, but after having done all the importation steps, all the records remain in the reservoir. If I try to add them individually by clicking on the add Biblio link, it informs me that I have several required fields left blanc. These "required fields" consist of things such as the number of the musical movement AND the map scale value, and other things that have absolutely nothing to do with regular books. I don't understand why these fields are required, and I don't see how I am going to be able to batch import all my records if it is going to continue to complain about not knowing such things - which are totally irrelevant pieces of information. I suspect that this has something to do with UNIMARC (which my koha IS installed under), and perhaps the default marc framework? I have also used the perl migration_script with the same result... everything in the reservoir, nothing in the catalog. Thanks for your help! BFT
