Hi Inock, I'm forwarding your request to the Koha user's mailing list as there may be others with helpful suggestions there. I am not a librarian myself. What I have learned about ILS and cataloging, etc. has been learned from the librarians here, the Internet, and the many helpful folks on the lists and #koha (irc). I would suggest starting with the latter two sources. As for relevant courses of learning, I'm sure that someone with a degree in Library Science could speak to this better than I. Dear List, Ist it somehow possible to store (and display) the former title of a serial? The according MARC21 fields (547 and 247) do not seem to be mapped? Try using an editor and configuration with known good UTF8 behavior. Something like vi or emacs, most likely. jEdit seems to have known issues w/ UTF8 detection: http://community.jedit.org/?q=node/view/2965 You will also have to check your terminal environment to make sure the UTF8 stuff gets across and is preserved correctly. Multiple Library Search :: Help Needed

Hello all. We have hosted 10 different Libraries at 10 different Public IPs. Now while searching the koha catalog from the OPAC view of any one of the libraries, is it possible to limit the search to one of the libraries we have hosted??? I mean to say that suppose that we browse the opac interface with the IP of Libarary A, then is it possible to select the branch as Libarary B in the limit options provided by KOHA and then get the results from only Library B ??? I have already added certain libraries and group into it. One bug found

In dealing with trying to get diacritics to work, I did run into one bug. There is a line of code missing in the sort-string-utf.chr file located at /etc/koha/zebradb/lang_defs/en encoding utf-8 Discovered this one when comparing the English version with the French version. New Acq Documentation

Hi all, I'm going to need some help with documenting the new acq module. There are a lot of new links and features that I'm not sure about. First is regarding the different types of budgets - there are Root Budgets and Period Budgets ... and maybe more ;) What's the difference? Why would I want one over the other? Task Scheduler

Hi all, As you know I'm working on the 3.2 manual. I'm about to write up the Task Scheduler documentation and I have never seen this in action, so I wanted to ask if any of you are using it and if so what do you want me to note in the manual about the process. In the old manual I had some notes in the comments: http://koha.org/documentation/manual/3.2/tools/task-scheduler that implied that this tool didn't work - but I've heard from some of you that it does ... so basically I need to know how it works so I can write it up properly. Biblio and Biblioitem

Could someone please explain the terms Biblio and Biblioitem? I tried looking through the manual and the FAQ's but the terms appear so frequently that I get too many hits. And the Glossary wasn't any help either. I'm editing the subfields in the MARC framework and under Advanced constraints there's a Koha link. I was trying to link at what I thought was the appropriate level - the biblio.isbn but there only appears to be a biblioitems.isbn Not understanding the difference between biblio and biblioitems makes me wonder if this will work. I'm trying to link analyticals together using their common ISBN in the 773 Host Item Entry field. Quoting from the 3.0 manual: # link : If you enter a field/subfield here (200b), a little glass appears after the subfield. If the user click on the glass, a search is done on the DB for the field/subfield with the same value. Can be used for 2 main topic : * on a field like author (200f in UNIMARC), put 200f here, you will be able to see all biblios with the same author * on a field that is a link (4xx) to reach another biblio. For example, put 011a in 464$x, will find the serial that was previously with this issn. With the 4xx pligin, you get a powerful tool to manage biblios connected to biblios # Koha link : Koha is multi-MARC compliant. So, it does not know what the 245$a means, neither what 200$f (those 2 fields being both the title in MARC21 and UNIMARC !). So, in this list you can "map" a MARC subfield to it's meaning. Koha constantly maintains consistency between a subfield and it's meaning. When the user want to search on "title", this link is used to find what is searched (245 if you're MARC21, 200 if you're UNIMARC). -- Elaine
