AWS support in 3.04
by Emrys Minnig 11 Dec '09

11 Dec '09

I recently did a clean install of 3.0.4 on a new server and populated the database with a backup from an old server. It was my understanding that Amazon Web Services were fixed in this version; however, the only Amazon info being shown are book covers in OPAC search results. (No cover images on item detail pages, no reviews, nothing on the staff interface, etc.) I noticed in the 3.2 manual that there is a system preference to hold an AWS Secret Access Key which is required for full Amazon content. I do not see this system preference anywhere in 3.0.4. Does this mean that full Amazon content is not possible in 3.0.4? Or perhaps is my systempreferences table messed up? Thanks for any insight into this problem! Emrys

Z39.5 server & Koha Express
by Cynthia M. Van Ness 11 Dec '09

11 Dec '09

Hi, colleagues, We're brand new to Koha Express, the hosted product, and are going through the configuration process before uploading our records. There is a screen for configuring a Z39.5 server. Our whole reason for going with Express was to retire our Z39.5 server, which is still running Windows 2000 and could expire at any moment. Do we really have to do this to get Koha Express to work? Thanks, everyone! ======================== Neh-ko, gah-gis-dah-yen-duk. [Other council fires were here before ours.] Cynthia M. Koha preconference
by Jodi Schneider 11 Dec '09

11 Dec '09

Hi general Koha list, hi Brendan: Henri-Damien suggested asking you about the Koha preconference. Currently this preconference has been canceled since no one took responsibility for it. I'm contacting you since I feel bad that it's been taken off the list for lack of knowledge... Someone (I'm not personally sure who) added the suggestion of a Koha preconference to the 2010 Preconference Proposal list: http://wiki.code4lib.org/index.php/2010_Preconference_Proposals If someone in the Koha community would like it to happen, please let Code4Lib Con know ASAP. Otherwise, no worries, there could be a breakout session or something informal at the conference. -Jodi

version 3.2
by Kohn, Karen 11 Dec '09

11 Dec '09

I'm sorry if this has been said and I missed it, but what is the status of Koha 3.2? I looked on the Developer wiki, which said it should be available by the end of November, but it is not available at koha.org. I assume it's a little behind schedule, but I'm trying to keep an eye on the timetable so I can talk to our IT people about when it would make sense to upgrade. Re: [Koha] Authority Search with Newest HEAD
by Nicole Engard 11 Dec '09

Yes, that's what's not working. I should have been clear that it was the search on the staff client that wasn't working - I haven't even tried the OPAC search for authorities yet. Authority Search with Newest HEAD
by Nicole Engard 11 Dec '09

11 Dec '09

Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has tested Authority searching after updating to the newest release of HEAD? I have authority records and ran Zebra with no problems, but still find no results for my Authority searches and I'm wondering if it's something specific to me, or if it's the update I recently did. Thanks Nicole

Thanks, and another import question...
by Amy Schuler 11 Dec '09

11 Dec '09

Good morning, Thanks to Bernardo, Ian and Lenora for their help yesterday with my bulkmarcimport problem. One of the tips I received alerted me to the fact that I did not have a 952 $a AND $b in my MARC records. I only had the $b (permanent location), populated with my library code "Cary". I have been confused by this $a and $b thing all along (and still am - more on this below). I edited my MARC to include $a, then tried importing the records again, and this time the records were loaded (thanks everyone!) although items were not. For each of my 23 MARC records, I received a variation of this error: ".Item not added (bib 10, item tag #1, barcode 100034): invalid homebranch" So, I take this to mean that not only do I need a $a, but it needs to be populated before I import the record if I also want to add the item. Is this correct? Can my $a and $b be the same code? I am a single location, no branches or anything, which is why I had thought that only one or the other was needed, but not both. If there is someplace in the sys preferences where I specify the $a, I do not know where this is. I see that I have to put in the library code, which I did, and then this is identical to the code that I put into my $b. Do I just add $a using MARCedit and add a code to all records there? I had left $a blank when I edited it before the successful import. I hope I am being clear. Thanks again for all of your help!
