Dear All, While trying to remove some of the fields in member entry form through staff client-intranetuserjs as per the koha docs , it is not removing the fields. I think the java script is not included to the intranet forms. I have added this to intranetuserjs $(document).ready(function(){ alert("hi"); $("#entryform #btitle").parent().remove(); $("#entryform #initials").parent().remove(); $("#entryform #othernames").parent().remove(); $("#entryform #streetnumber").parent().remove(); $("#entryform #streettype").parent().remove(); }); Any help is apreciated regards Liny Varghese

database import from 2.2.8 in 3.0.4-fixed
by mourik jan c heupink 10 Dec '09

10 Dec '09

Hi, I have started all over again, and hope someone can help out this time. I successfully installed koha 3.0.4-fixed (no ldap, nozebra) Then: - I imported my older 2.2.8 database into mysql - Adjusted /etc/koha-conf.xml to connect to the old database - Ran the installer/data/mysql/update22to30.pl - Opened the :8080 web interface, where I arrived at step three of the installer: update the database from 3.00.00.001 to version 3.00.04.019. This succeeded, but here I received the following 8 errors: * [Thu Dec 10 16:08:07 2009] updatedatabase.pl: DBD::mysql::db do failed: Duplicate entry 'DebugLevel' for key 1 at /usr/share/koha/intranet/cgi-bin/installer/data/mysql/updatedatabase.pl line 107. * [Thu Dec 10 16:08:07 2009] updatedatabase.pl: DBD::mysql::db do failed: Table 'tags' already exists at /usr/share/koha/intranet/cgi-bin/installer/data/mysql/updatedatabase.pl line 114. * [Thu Dec 10 16:08:09 2009] updatedatabase.pl: DBD::mysql::db do failed: Duplicate entry '000493' for key 2 at /usr/share/koha/intranet/cgi-bin/installer/data/mysql/updatedatabase.pl line 284. * [Thu Dec 10 16:08:13 2009] updatedatabase.pl: DBD::mysql::db do failed: Duplicate entry 'minPasswordLength' for key 1 at /usr/share/koha/intranet/cgi-bin/installer/data/mysql/updatedatabase.pl line 730. * [Thu Dec 10 16:08:13 2009] updatedatabase.pl: DBD::mysql::db do failed: Duplicate entry 'uppercasesurnames' for key 1 at /usr/share/koha/intranet/cgi-bin/installer/data/mysql/updatedatabase.pl line 811. * [Thu Dec 10 16:08:15 2009] updatedatabase.pl: DBD::mysql::db do failed: Can't create table './merit/printers_profile.frm' (errno: 150) at /usr/share/koha/intranet/cgi-bin/installer/data/mysql/updatedatabase.pl line 1006. * [Thu Dec 10 16:08:16 2009] updatedatabase.pl: DBD::mysql::db do failed: Unknown column 'printingtype' in 'labels_conf' at /usr/share/koha/intranet/cgi-bin/installer/data/mysql/updatedatabase.pl line 1326. * [Thu Dec 10 16:08:16 2009] updatedatabase.pl: ERROR 1452 (23000) at line 1: Cannot add or update a child row: a foreign key constraint fails (`merit/message_transports`, CONSTRAINT `message_transports_ibfk_3` FOREIGN KEY (`letter_module`, `letter_code`) REFERENCES `letter` (`module`, `code`) ON DELETE CASCADE ON UPDATE CASCADE) I'm guessing that these errors are serious, because certain things don't function anymore, specifically: the 'Patrons' menu under 'Administration', 'Global system preferences' gives "production mode - trapped fatal error". In my apache error log, I see: [Thu Dec 10 16:26:26 2009] [error] [client 192.87.143.125] [Thu Dec 10 16:26:26 2009] systempreferences.pl: The given value does not seem to be interpretable as a Boolean value at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Boolean.pm line 102., referer: http://192.87.143.104:8080/cgi-bin/koha/admin/systempreferences.pl Any suggestions how to fix this..? Just give me enough time to learn how. I fact I think that a central Bundle::KohaSupport in CPAN is not a good idea. Why ? Because the mainstream now is to use the packages of every distro and only for modules without a package to use CPAN. With CPAN you will receive the last version of a module and sometimes with this operation you break something. So in fact the Bundle::KohaSupport needs to be different for every distro and every version of a distro. I think is more useful if you work on check the installation instruction on this problem. For example the modules listened in INSTALL.debian / INSTALL.debian-lenny / INSTALL.ubuntu are correct ? In the same time you can check the lists in install_misc/ubuntu.packages, debian.packages, debian-lenny.packages If you don't use a debian based distro, you can check INSTALL.opensuse and INSTALL.fedora7 Others installation instruction here: http://wiki.koha.org/doku.php#installation Bye Zeno Tajoli CILEA - Segrate (MI) tajoliAT_SPAM_no_prendiATcilea.it (Indirizzo mascherato anti-spam; sostituisci quanto tra AT con @)

How to make z39.50 server
by nitesh rijal 10 Dec '09

10 Dec '09

Hello all. I am using KOHA 3.0.3 in Debian Lenny. We are currently hosting 10 different libraries. We want the records of one library to be searched from another library. For this we are thinking to make a z39.50 server in our Koha Installation with all the records of 10 libraries into a single server. In this way we can share our records. But I cannot find any resources that says how to make a working z39.50 server out of my existing Koha Installation. If anybody has done it before or has some kinds of tutorials to make it, please reply. Please Help. Thank you. -- Nitesh Rijal BE IT email: rijal.it(a)gmail.com url: http://niteshrijal.com.np facebook: http://facebook.com/openrijal twitter: http://twitter.com/openrijal +9779841458173

I've been viewing your link using a German locale setting, so Koha showed me the entry in German, which resulted in a perfectly fine view of the item. Are you sure you applied the patch to the correct file? I've just checked my local installation and there it also views fine in German. I've followed your instructions on applying the patch, but it seems i still have the same problem, may be it has to be another issue with my installation. see this search result <https://service.nhm-wien.ac.at/go/http://library.gretsauniversity.ac.ke/cgi…> (makes me sick) Still no records in the opac for items after the first one. Surpisingly, the Intranet has no problems at all. Am almost giving up on this. --- On Thu, 3/12/09, Koller Wolfgang <wolfgang.koller(a)NHM-WIEN.AC.AT> wrote: From: Koller Wolfgang <wolfgang.koller(a)NHM-WIEN.AC.AT> Subject: Re: [Koha] OPAC View problems To: koha(a)lists.katipo.co.nz Date: Thursday, 3 December, 2009, 10:16 Hi Benson, No problem. I had the same issue so it was easy for me to answer :). Basically the patch does nothing but adding one statement to opac-details.tmpl. So you can also do it manually. Just open the file (opac-details.tmpl) in an editor, go to line 295. There should be something like "Checked out" (if you have the English template). Right after it add a new line with: Save and close the file and try it again. Wide character in null operation after Z3950 import
by Rick Welykochy 10 Dec '09

10 Dec '09

Hi all, We have a Koha/3.00.04_fixed installation in the French language. When we search for a word like "père" in the catalogue, the browser submits the accented e correctly and the search succeeds. Then we attempt to import a biblio record using Z3950 into the catalogue that contains the word "père" we see the following error message: The following fatal error has occurred:Wide character in null operation at /usr/local/share/perl/5.8.8/MARC/Charset/Table.pm line 96. So, I cannot put this down to incorrect URF-8 character encoding in either the web server or the client's browser. Am I correct in suspecting that the character encoding goes amiss somehwere in the Z3950 communications gateway? cheers rickw -- _________________________________ Rick Welykochy || Praxis Services C makes it easy to shoot yourself in the foot. quick question re: bulkmarcimport
by Amy Schuler 09 Dec '09

09 Dec '09

Hello, As ever, I am struggling with the migration of my marc data. Yet, I persist. I am trying bulkmarcimport for the, oh, fortieth time... and it seems it wants an XML file, not my marc (.mrc) file. Does this sound right? I thought I would ask before I risk messing up the database. I used MarcEdit to convert my .mrc file to Marc21XML. I am running Koha 3.0. Thanks so much, Amy Amy C.
