Re: [Koha] trouble placing hold on book

Hi Bob, I am using version 3.00.06.008 The only place you suggested that I can't find is in circulation rules. I can't find a spot to specify the number of holds for patron categories. The only hold rule I can see on this screen is to specify holds allowed to item types, which I have set to default. Am I not finding the right spot or does it not exist on my version? I checked the other areas you suggested and from what I can understand, they all seem to be set properly. Thanks, Shelley On Wed, Mar 9, 2011 at 6:23 AM, Bob Birchall wrote: > Hi Shelley, > > What version of Koha are you using? > > Check your circulation rule - how many holds are allowed for that > category of patron? software error message - authorities

I tried to delete an authority record with 0 biblios and got the following message: Undefined subroutine &C4::AuthoritiesMarc::prepare called at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/AuthoritiesMarc.pm line 720. We're running 3.2.5. I can't seem to delete any authorities at the moment. Fwd: Request to mailing list LibLime-Users rejected
by Buster 10 Mar '11

10 Mar '11

Hello, all. I have been following the discourse about LibLime on here with interest, as we will be searching a vendor for our selected system (which is Koha, of course). However, I had read little from those who actually use LibLime as a vendor. Since there are so many out there I assumed I was missing something. On a recent visit to a library consortium in Texas that uses LibLime, the director of that system told me about a LibLime listserv. Figuring I might receive different information from that list (and thus allowing me to pass on pros and cons to our director, instead of just cons), I attempted to sign on to the list, only to receive the the below rejection notice. So much for "open source". Why the secretive approach if the system is not proprietary? But, I'm still seeking information on PTFS/LibLime. So, if there are any customers of this vendor lurking out there, I would love to hear from you, either pro or con. You may email me off list if you are more comfortable with that. My email is storypage [at] gmail.com. Koha question about 942 $n suppression
by Linda Culberson 10 Mar '11

10 Mar '11

Everyone, I could use some advice here from those who use the 942 subfield $n to suppress records from the opac. When we create records they are generally suppressed upon creation, and then double-checked by a supervisor (or sometimes by the cataloger themselves) who removes the suppression. Is this possible in Koha, and if so, how is the best way to achieve it? Re: [Koha] Idea: Basing Cart off Items instead of Biblios
by Ian Walls 10 Mar '11

You can still have items of different item types attached to a single biblio; that's no problem. And you could still have patrons add the biblios to their Carts, for tagging, putting on Lists or placing Biblio-level holds (amongst many others). This should work just fine. If this does break your use-case, though, you can disable the Cart for patrons by turning off opacbasket in the system preferences area. -Ian On Thu, Mar 10, 2011 at 1:06 AM, <hansbkk(a)gmail.com> wrote: > 2011/3/10 Robin Sheat <robin(a)catalyst.net.nz>: > >> Or, maybe having two separate Carts, Biblios and Items, would be the > >> way to go, though that seems to be overcomplicating things. > > > > Presumably an option so that a cart can contain both items and biblios > > would be a good middle-ground. Add record author field locked?
by Fogg, Shawn (DPH) 10 Mar '11

10 Mar '11

Hi, We are using Koha in a small school now. One of my last hurdles is adding new books to Koha. We were able to add about half of the new books we have through Z39 searches but the remaining books (about 100) aren't being found. In trying to add these by hand I am running into a problem in that I can't add the authors name to the catalog entry for a book. That field is showing as locked. I haven't been able to figure out how to change that. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Shawn
