Hello, I have a problem with my authorities: I catalog my book in the framework and I save my bibliographic record, but when I see my authority record, no authorities are linked. How is it possible? Koha question about search/indexing results

All, I may be misunderstanding how some of the links in Koha work, or we could have a problem with our authorities. Either way, I'd appreciate any help and/or insight. In Koha, if I do just a general keyword search for "Mississippi Dept of Transportation" I get 180 results. If I do an author search I get 150 results If I click on one of the links for which that department is the author, and then click on its "by" link it goes to an:7261 and I only get 16 results. Some of those are the department as subject and others as it as author. I thought au was the author index, and am assuming it is using the authorities? Any help would be appreciated. Koha 3.2.5 OPAC search won't work

I am new to both ubuntu/linux and Koha, and I installed ubuntu 10.10 and Koha 3.2.5 with Koha Live CD by Mizstik. The Koha system is set to Unimarc during installation and two Unimarc records were imported through Z39.50 servers for testing purpose. After some minor tuning which I don't remember exactly, I can search the catalog in librarian interface with no problem, but OPAC search find no result. One record was added to a list and is accessible with the "lists" button on OPAC front page, but it wasn't searchable, eliminating the possibility that the record is suppressed in OPAC. ==================== CLEANING ==================== I supposed with all these warning the index created by zebraserver may not function properly thus the search doesn't work, but searching in librarian's interface is fine. There could be other reasons. Does anyone know how to fix it? Another thing is, I installed the whole system with Live CD and the default koha user seems to be "root", for I find two zebra server daemon executed by root account. It seems that these two process somehow create or modify files in /var/lock/koha/zebradb/ for every time I turn on the computer and the owner of these files would root again even though they were chown last time, and it cause [Permission denied] while zebra reindexing. Subfields 952 $i, $k

[Apologies for cross-posting, users and devel] Marc 952 $i, $k are not used in "standard" Koha. They can be added to the default framework (allowed by Koha), but this appears to require a modification to the Mysql structure. Has anyone tried to do this? Background: for Serials, we want to add at *item* level "Extended Keywords" (952$z is limited to 255 characters) and "Abstracts" (at *biblio* level, we use 520 $a and $b.) This will require new "Koha Fields" - e.g, in the same way that 952$z uses "items.itemnotes" we will need to introduce "items.itemkeywords" and "items.itemabstracts". I am looking for suggestions as to how to best add these fields so that they can be usefully searched by the OPAC - and of course for any pitfalls or showstoppers. Thanks Paul Tired old sys-admin

Is there a way to get the biblionumber into MARC field 001 for bib records?

Hi all! Norway will soon have a new meta-search for libraries, based on harvesting records through OAI-PMH and creating a central index. One of the requirements for getting into the meta-search is that the last part of the OAI-PMH record identifiers (e.g. "2" in "oai:bibkat.no:NO-1120127:2") corresponds to the contents of MARC field 001. What it actually looks like does not matter too much, as long as it is a *locally* unique identifier for the record. An easy fix for this would be to put the biblionumber into MARC field 001. Is there a way to do this without changing the code of Koha? E.g. some trick with frameworks and mappings? I have tried to think of something clever, but have come up empty handed... (I have created a bug related to this, suggesting that 001 always be used as the identifier for OAI-PMH, or that a syspref be created to let a library choose whether to use biblionumber or 001 as identifier for OAI-PMH: http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=6198 ) Best regards, Magnus Enger libriotech.no
