Re: [Koha] Opensuse + Zebra

The start_daemon and daemon (for Ubuntu for example) has different arguments, so I think that it wouldn't work... The solution said previous works but if I need to restart the server I need to kill the proccess and start it again. I didn't tried the rebuild_zebra.pl script, because i'm working on the biblio records migration. I will try it later, I hope that it works fine... Regards. Opensuse + Zebra
by Vitor Fernandes 29 Apr '11

Hi there. Can anybody help me with a zebra configuration? I'm trying to run Zebra on OpenSUSE but when I run the command to start Zebra I have the following error: >koha-zebra-ctl.sh start Starting Zebra Server koha-zebra-ctl.sh: line 48: daemon: command not found I know that is a Koha problem, but I think that someone had already experience this. I only need to know which is the correct package of OpenSUSE to install the correct daemon. Thanks in advance. Regards. Vitor Fernandes

Item number confusion
by Elizabeth Lynn Edgar 28 Apr '11

28 Apr '11

Hello, I am an intern at a small research library for a large corporation. One of my current assignments is to see if Koha would be a good fit for this library. I am still in the set up phase for our test catalog and have had a few problems that I was hoping someone here might be able to point me in the right direction in answering them. According to the person who set up the server for me, we are using Koha version 3.02.00.004. 1) Our catalog records store all of the item number data for our books in the 949 field, and it does not appear that Koha likes to use the 952 field for this information. How bad would it be for me to switch this with in Koha, or is there another way to get Koha to acknowledge the item numbers for our books? 2) We currently keep our e-books in a separate collection from the main physical collection and would like to continue doing so in Koha. So far I have made a separate library for them. Normally we just let the current catalog generate a generic call number/item number for them so that they are obviously different from the physical collection so we don't have people searching our shelves for an electronic book. When I mess with the cataloging criteria for the e-book library to set it to auto generate item numbers for the e-books it seems want to change the setting to auto generate item numbers for all the library collections. Is it possible to have one library or branch set to auto assign item numbers and another library or branch set to allow the cataloger assign the item number? Sincerely, Elizabeth Edgar

Koha: changing opac-tmpl/prog/en/xsl/MARC21slim2OPACDetail.xsl
by Linda Culberson 28 Apr '11

28 Apr '11

All, Based on an answer I got in October about how to make fields not appear in the opac (in our case the 59X fields), I was about to change the opac-tmpl/prog/en/xsl/MARC21slim2OPACDetail.xsl and was wondering. Is this file overwritten with each upgrade? In other words, is changing this file the best way to hide fields? How about moving fields from below the "Title Notes" tab to above it? I'd rather think of a weird coincidence. I'm sorry if my > confusion just makes the situation more obscure. > The issue here is that the local-number index has "magic" properties. I don't really understand how Zebra works, but I do know that every entry in the local-number index is considered a "separate" record. So if record has two fields that appear in the local-number index, the Zebra index will store two copies of the record (this is where the search results in Koha come from, not from the database). At some point I will submit a patch changing the suggestion for the 035 index, since uncommenting the "melm 035" line as it stands now in the MARC21 record.abs is pretty much guaranteed to corrupt your Zebra indexes.
