[ZEBRA QUERY] A bit flummoxed with the .deb installation of 3.2.7
by Indranil Das Gupta 06 May '11

06 May '11

Hi I've processed with tarball installations (up to 3.2.0) in the past with no problem as far as zebra et al were concerned. this time i'm testing with the .deb files from Koha's debian repos (thanks Lars, Robin and others for the wonderful work) on Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS The site is running fine. I've the koha user created and everything else. However, I'm kinda stumped as what to do with koha-rebuild-zebra script. I've also read the tutorial by Thomas Krichel ( http://openlib.org/home/krichel/courses/lis9012/doc/koha_installation.html) FWIW, I dont have anything under /etc/koha/sites. I'm however able to manually run zebrasrv -f /etc/koha/koha-conf.xml, and connect (and auth) via yaz-client. As well as run /usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/ rebuild_zebra.pl -v -b -a so what exactly do I need to do with a .deb installation to get things running nice? Can someone give me a breakdown on what i'm missing here. thanks in advance -- Indranil Das Gupta Phone : +91-98300-20971 Blog : http://indradg.randomink.org/blog IRC : indradg on irc://irc.freenode.net Twitter : indradg -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Please exchange editable Office documents only in ODF Format. Items migration along with records
by Nitesh Rijal 06 May '11

06 May '11

Hello all. I am using KOHA since more than a year now. Whenever we have a client who has to migrate there data to KOHA, we are only able to convert their Records and not Items. This is one of the thing that we are not able to implement KOHA in such a large scale. Last month, we went to Bangladesh at East West University, to implement KOHA there. The records were migrated very easily as usual, but the problem was with items. They had a lot of items with all barcodes already set. They wanted all the items imported in KOHA with the same barcode. With the IT persons there, we made an excel sheet with the items and barcodes and inserted them in the "items" table. The process was successful and then all the records had items shown while browsing them. Now we have a problem. When we find a record by biblionumber, it shows the items and their barcodes, but when we find the same record in the search result it only shows 1 item. Also, while scanning the barcode, it says no items found. I have already rebuild zebra many times. What may be the solution for this? Please Help. PS: we only inserted data in "items" table, but there is a "marcxml" field in "biblioitems" whose value also has the subfield information. So, what is the actual way? When I add new item through koha interface, which tables does it affect? -- Er. Fwd: error message when searching front end for Manga
by Caitlin McGurk 06 May '11

06 May '11

Hey Koha, Just noticed searching Manga (without pulling down title etc.) yielded this: Error: Can't call method "as_usmarc" on an undefined value at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Search.pm line 2384. You can search by title. Why would I be getting this error message, just for this one thing? Our catalog is certainly packed full of Manga so it doesn't make much sense. Caitlin McGurk

Reports returning different totals
by Cindy Weber 06 May '11

06 May '11

We recently went live and I'm now trying to run the monthly statistics reports I've set up. One of the reports is to total the number of checkouts and renewals for the month listed by library and the other is the same total number of checkouts and renewals but listed by the borrower category code. These two reports should equal but don't. When I was trying to figure out what is going wrong, I found the following two reports don't give the same results but as near as I can tell, they should. Can anyone please, please tell me why I'm seeing different results and which numbers are correct? We're on PTFS Koha. Thanks! Report 1 totals for the first three libraries: LIB1 4497 LIB2 10130 LIB3 1710 SQL for Report 1: SELECT borrowers.branchcode AS 'Library', COUNT(statistics.itemnumber) AS 'Total CKO' FROM statistics JOIN borrowers ON (borrowers.borrowernumber = statistics.borrowernumber) WHERE (statistics.datetime) >= '2011-04-15' AND DATE(statistics.datetime) <= '2011-04-30' AND statistics.type IN ('issue','renew') GROUP BY borrowers.branchcode Report 2 totals for the first three libraries: LIB1 4161 LIB2 9746 LIB3 1647 SQL for Report 2: SELECT statistics.branch AS Library, COUNT(statistics.itemnumber) AS 'Total CKO' FROM statistics WHERE DATE(statistics.datetime) >= '2011-04-15' AND DATE(statistics.datetime) <= '2011-04-30' AND statistics.type IN ('issue','renew') GROUP BY statistics.branch -- Cindy Weber cweber(a)scls.lib.wi.us System Support Specialist (608)242-4710 South Central Library System

CCL query query
by Grobani, Daniel 05 May '11

05 May '11

Hi, In the course of trying to devise a CCL query that will display books acquired by a branch in the last 30 days, I've found that compound queries don't seem to work the way I expect them to. I don't know if this is due to my misunderstanding or because I'm on LLEK. For example, I think the following should return all biblios having at least one item whose acqdate is 20011-04-13 and whose homebranch is SF: http://samuelmerritt.kohalibrary.com/cgi-bin/koha/opac-search.pl?q=ccl%3Dac…. This returns one biblio with five items, but the only item with acqdate=2011-04-13 has branch=OAK, and the only item with branch=SF has acqdate=2009-06-17. Have I specified the syntax incorrectly?
