Hi! Please, allways reply to the list - you are much more likely to get answers that way. My questions were just the standard ones to help narrow down the problem. :-) I have no idea what is causing your problem, but the latest stable version is actually 3.6.1 (and 3.6.2 is right around the corner), so upgrading to that might be worth a try. question on adding new languages
by Hugo Agud 20 Dec '11

Hi to everybody We have already install one koha 3.6.1 into ubuntu 11.04 and after the installation we have tried to install the spanish package we are experiencing problems with the detailed view of the OPAC, while in the english version us running fine. I have revied some old post and I have seen some similar behaviour with Koha 3.4 http://lists.katipo.co.nz/public/koha/2011-June/029486.html current problem: Software error: Template process failed: file error - parse error - /home/ubuntu/koha/opac/htdocs/opac-tmpl/prog/es-ES/modules/opac-detail.tt line 652: unexpected end of input at /home/ubuntu/koha/lib/C4/Templates.pm line 125. I wish to ask you If you think that it could be the same problem I think it is... but I wish to share with you According the old mails the problem rasies from a %s missing links in the po files, we can check by our own and fix in the templates... but we need some support to identigy the problem in the .po files... any body may guide us to fix the problem and we will release the corrected files to the community Kindest Regards Hugo -- *Hugo Agud - Orex Digital * *www.orex.es* * * Director Avenida Sarriá 29 · 08029 Barcelona <http://twitter.com/OrexDigital> :<http://orexsl.blogspot.com>hugoaguda - Tel: 93 539 40 70 Fax: 93 539 33 30 hagud(a)orex.es · http://www.orex.es/ No imprima este mensaje a no ser que sea necesario. Koha System Administrators Special Interest Section

As Koha continues to grow in popularity it seems reasonable to assume there may be a corresponding increase in the number of Koha system administrators, specifically separate from developers. At some point if there is interest in starting a mailing list or a wiki section for system administrators maybe we should discuss it. The following email discussing updates in Debian that I received on a different mailing list is one example of information that might be of interest to such a group. Greg -------------------------------------------- On Mon, Dec 19, 2011 at 1:10 AM, Richard Allen <rsaxvc(a)gmail.com <mailto:rsaxvc@gmail.com>> wrote: Trying to upgrade an older debian squeeze install, aptitude tries very hard 'resolving dependencies', eats 3+ gigs of ram, the machine fills swap and thrashes until I kill it. Anyone else run into this issue? I'm rather curious if it would've died earlier with a 32-bit kernel. Richard, Have you tried the upgrade with apt-get? It's (again) the recommended package manager for Debian (as opposed to aptitude in Lenny)[1]: Note Although the |aptitude| command comes with rich features such as its enhanced package resolver, this complexity has caused (or may still causes) some regressions such as Bug #411123 <http://bugs.debian.org/411123>, Bug #514930 <http://bugs.debian.org/514930>, and Bug #570377 <http://bugs.debian.org/570377>. In case of doubt, please use the |apt-get| and |apt-cache| commands over the |aptitude|command. OPAC searching for old IP address
by cjwalke 16 Dec '11

16 Dec '11

I'm running Koha 3.04. The IP address for my server recently changed and I've changed koha-httpd.conf to the new IP address. However, when I run a search through the OPAC, it retrieves results accurately, but then I can see that Firefox is trying to connect to the old IP address, which it eventually times out. Where else is this old IP address and do I need to change another setting? -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/OPAC-searching-for-old-IP-address-tp50809… Sent from the Koha-general mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

Hi Chris, They don't -- it was just programmatical curiosity on my behalf (I have this very old-fashioned foible about trying to understand what I do.) Also, a number of other posters have mentioned similar occurrences, so I thought that adding my two cents that "a quick verification showed no loss of functionality" might have been helpful. That was one of the reasons I changed the Subject: from "xyz fails" to something more generic. Best - Paul

Checkout fails
by Perch 16 Dec '11

Upon trying to check items out to a patron this message appears: -- Software error: Can't call method "subfield" on an undefined value at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Biblio.pm line 3008. For help, please send mail to the webmaster (webmaster@vps185), giving this error message and the time and date of the error. -- The item gets checked out (i.e. it appears in the list of items checked out to the client when you go return to the checkout page). The same happens with check in. The items get checked in, but Koha stops at the error message. Similar error message appears when trying to add a new issue to an existing subscription. I think the problem might be related to error I received when updating the database to new Koha version (http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/Database-update-errors-td5068234.html) Any help here? That's why it's safe to ignore. Thanks, and yes -- but what I was trying to research was *why* the Perl script was trying to do it twice (I am sure that whoever wrote it had a good reason for that particular line appearing at that particular place.) Also, I understand the functionality of 'maxItemsInSearchResults', but not that of 'privacy' ... I'll be taking a closer look at these sort of details, but at the moment am more concerned with system security, reliability and speed (Paul P. has made some interesting suggestions on the developers' list) as I want to get the new server into production on 1 Jan and this includes the customization (automated barcodes and call numbers via our own Perl modules, frameworks and screen presentations.) For example, I see that search is now giving us under "Location": 1 item, None available 1 unavailable Archives and Collections {correct shelf location} (Damaged) not for loan whereas there is in fact 1 item available, reference only, (Normal wear) not for loan The devil is in the details ... but we're having fun. Again thanks - and best regards, Paul
