We have a library that has created a patron for a room were they store books that aren't being used. There are hundreds of books checked out to this patron. What they are noticing is that the system slows down significantly when they are checking out to this patron. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? We are running Koha 3.2 Thanks, Marie Wardall Library Media Specialist Mountain Bay Elementary School Weston, WI 54476

Yep, this was fixed in later versions of Koha (what exact version of 3.2 are you running?) Bug 6801 has the fix http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=6801 This was released in 3.4.6, and 3.6.0 so any version of Koha later than those will have it. (3.6.x are the current stable releases, 3.4.x are the old stable ones, still supported, and 3.2.x is end of life and no longer gets bug fixes apart from security ones) Hope this helps Chris
Hi Marie, Chris already respond to your question, however, I would like to suggest that you could use a specific shelving location for those books instead of checking them out to a patron. Is there a specific reason why your library checks out to a patron instead of using a designated shelving location ? Eric On 2011-12-27 21:43, Marie Wardall wrote:

I know a big reason why one might check out to a patron instead: It's so much easier. We really, really need an interface like circ/branchtransfers.pl for setting shelving location so that you can 1) Do a lot of things in a batch 2) Not require cataloging or batch item update permissions. I wouldn't give my circ staff batch update permissions, but I'd be happy to have them be able to move books from the new book shelf to the regular stacks. </rant> -- Owen -- Web Developer Athens County Public Libraries http://www.myacpl.org
