100 field
by Estel Porras 22 Dec '11

22 Dec '11

Hi I am a cataloger in California and I just have a quick question. I basically do copy-cataloging for a small Library in Northern CA. There are times, though, that I do have to generate an original record [for local history, self published, etc.]. When this happens I am unable to fill in the personal name field. It is grayed out and I cannot type anything there. I thought this could be changed by "authorizing" me to use this field, but cannot find how to turn this "on". I have tried to go to administration, but cannot seem to find the answer. Any input would be appreciated. Happy Holidays to all! Have a great day, ~Estel~ Orland Free Library 333 Mill St. Orland CA. 95963 [530]865-1640

setting start value for autobarcode
by amutsikiwa 21 Dec '11

21 Dec '11

Hi all I would like my koha installation to use the autoBarcode option set to autoincrement i.e. generated in the form 1,2,3. Is there a way of setting the start value, say 44000000000 so that the next generated values are 44000000001, 44000000002, 44000000003 etc Kind Regards, Admire Mutsikiwa ICT Projects Manager Library IT University of Zimbabwe Tel:+263-4-303276 Cel:+263-772-239187 ---- The University wishes you all a Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2012! Searching Tips in the Manual
by Nicole Engard 21 Dec '11

21 Dec '11

Hello all, I got a question recently about what fields were searched for the language filter on the advanced search and I was going to add the answer to the manual only to find that none of the fields are defined: http://manual.koha-community.org/3.6/en/searchguide.html#searchguide-advanc… Do we know if there is documentation on this in zebra anywhere? Or does anyone know (in a way that's quick and easy to answer) enough to tell me so I can put something in the manual? The searching guide that is in there was written for 3.0 and I honestly never changed it because there is way too much about the search engine I don't know and didn't know how to research. Anyway, if you have some tips, places I should look, or information you want to share please do! You can just reply to all here or I also welcome patches to the manual - but if you'd rather write it in a document or text file go right ahead. I will credit you for the parts you write of course! Thanks in advance, Nicole PS. I'm looking for tips that will help the users like the fact that the language index populates from 008 (chars 35-37), and 041adej

Re: [Koha] Koha Digest, Vol 74, Issue 39 Barcode printing in Koha (Magnus Enger)
by sunil.kumar＠ecoleglobal.com 21 Dec '11

Dear Magnus, Which version of Koha you are using if it is Koha 3.04 there is a bug in generating the barcode. If you are using Koha 3.06 then check whether this bug is resolved in the version you have installed. If bug is resolved then generating barcode is very simple. I can forward you step by step process of generating barcode, if required. thanks and regards r sunil kumar library technologist.
