Download a list of titles and ISBNs in CSV export
by Hartman, David W. - GBTS Library 27 Dec '11

27 Dec '11

Hello all, I want to download a list of all my item titles (245 marc field) and ISBN (020 marc field). That's all .. just these two fields in a CSV format. I have created a CSV export format with these two fields within Koha but I do not see an export/download command where I can use this CSV format? What is the command I need to download these two fields? David W. Update on link resolver + Koha?
by Amy Schuler 27 Dec '11

27 Dec '11

Hello, I was just wondering if any of the developers could provide an update on the status of link resolver support for Koha. I read a few posts about this and see that as of August 2010, the request for link resolver functionality was submitted as a bug/patch. Any news? Thanks! Amy C. ISBNs
by Stacy Pober 26 Dec '11

26 Dec '11

Saw your post on the Koha list. Some publishers have indeed prepended 978 to their shorter ISBNs but for other publishers, the 13 and 10 digit ISBNs are different, so your matching rule would not work well. For example, the book Running with Scissors: *ISBN-10:* 0312938853 *ISBN-13:* 978-0312938857 Add to that the problem of having multiple ISSNs in many records. Some OCLC records for a book will list in the the hardback, paperback, cased set, and ebook ISBNs all in 020$a fields for one of those versions. Some ebook vendor-supplied records put the hardcover ISBN in the 020$a and don't list the electronic version's ISBN at all. Which is to say, the 3 digit offset is not going to work well at all. Re: [Koha] how to export / import patron's data
by Ata ur Rehman 26 Dec '11

Dear Amir Please post your question on the entire list of Koha so that others can suggest you some solution. It is better to get the backup of your previous database with mysqldump command. Then upgrade Koha and Import this database into new Koha. You need not to import anything else separately. When importing records, question about matching rule
by Hartman, David W. - GBTS Library 23 Dec '11

23 Dec '11

When importing records, my matching rule works when ISBN matches identically in both records .. so ... I need to modify my ISBN matching rule so that it matches books that MAY have the prefix 978 in front of the ISBN. Does anyone know how to modify the matching rule so that 978MATCH and MATCH will match? My current rule is Tag 020 (ISBN) Subfield a Offset 3 ( I tried 3 so it would ignore the 978 but this did not work) Length 0 Normalization rule : blank Happy Holidays everyone!!! David W. Experience with msyql setup for utf-8
by Zeno Tajoli 23 Dec '11

23 Dec '11

Hi to all, I'm checking the setup of a new Koha site, and I'm sure that we will deeply use UTF-8. In /etc/mysql/my.conf, section [mysqld] I have insert: init-connect = 'SET NAMES utf8' character-set-server=utf8 collation-server=utf8_general_ci character_set_client=utf8 In fact is what is written here: http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Encoding_and_Character_Sets_in_Koha Well, if I do a check on mysql with root user I see: mysql> show variables where variable_name LIKE "character_set%" OR variable_name LIKE "collation%"; +--------------------------+----------------------------+ | Variable_name | Value | +--------------------------+----------------------------+ | character_set_client | latin1 | | character_set_connection | latin1 | | character_set_database | utf8 | | character_set_filesystem | binary | | character_set_results | latin1 | | character_set_server | utf8 | | character_set_system | utf8 | | character_sets_dir | /usr/share/mysql/charsets/ | | collation_connection | latin1_swedish_ci | | collation_database | utf8_general_ci | | collation_server | utf8_general_ci | +--------------------------+----------------------------+ I use msyql 5.1 on Debian Do you think is a coerent situation ? Which experience do you have with mysql utf-8 setup ? Bye Zeno Tajoli -- Dott.
