Re: [Koha] Deduplicate authorities

IMHO, authority deduplication is similar to authority unlink/link. Consider two terms like "Bargioni, Stefano, 1959-" linked to N1 biblios and "Bargioni, Stefano" linked to N2 biblios. You need to unlink N2 biblios from the second term, i.e. link them to the first one. Deduplication can be automatic, while the step of choosing term-from and term-to for unlink/link biblios must be manual. I added this comment to bug 7419 http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=7419. Stefano

Placing holds on multiple volumes that are on a single bib record
by Hillyard, Cecil 13 Jan '12

13 Jan '12

Hi all, We are having a hard time placing multiple holds on bib records that have multiple volumes on the same bibliographic records. Some DVD sets have the discs individually cataloged/barcoded or Serial records that have circulating items. We get the message: Cannot place hold. Patron already has a hold on this item. This shows up even when the next available copy box has been unchecked. Is it possible to place holds for a single patron on multiple volumes/items of a single bibliographic record? Need SQL for a report
by Lesley Kimball 12 Jan '12

12 Jan '12

Hi everyone, I'm having trouble getting onto ByWater Solutions's ticketing system and I didn't find this report in the SQL Reports Library so I thought I would ask the general brain. I need a report to get a list of patrons from 4 different Patron Categories. Has anyone already created something like this? We are using 3.4. Thanks! Deduplicate authorities
by Paul 12 Jan '12

12 Jan '12

I'm not sure if this query is related to bug 7419, or just something that we are doing wrong (or not doing right.) (Koha v. 3.6.1.) Our cataloguers have started looking at "duplicate authorities" (mainly caused by import of Z39.50 biblios) and editing the biblios by using the drop-down "Tag Editor" at 100$a and "choosing" the one they wish to retain, then deleting the "old|unused" authority. As an example, they started with: Gibbs-Smith, C. H., Details 1 biblio(s) Gibbs-Smith, Charles H., Details 1 biblio(s) Gibbs-Smith, Charles H., 1909- Details 1 biblio(s) Gibbs-Smith, Charles H., 1909-1981 Details 1 biblio(s) Gibbs-Smith, Charles Harvard, 1909- Details 1 biblio(s) Gibbs-Smith, Charles Harvard, 1909-1981 Details 4 biblio(s) and ended with: Gibbs-Smith, Charles Harvard, 1909-1981 Details 1 biblio(s) Gibbs-Smith, Charles Harvard, 1909-1981 Details 1 biblio(s) Gibbs-Smith, Charles Harvard, 1909-1981 Details 1 biblio(s) Gibbs-Smith, Charles Harvard, 1909-1981 Details 1 biblio(s) Gibbs-Smith, Charles Harvard, 1909-1981 Details 1 biblio(s) Gibbs-Smith, Charles Harvard, 1909-1981 Details 4 biblio(s) The incremental zebra (-z) crontab does nothing to deduplicate, nor does a complete zebra authority reindex (-a -r -v), and I have tried additionally (-b -r -v -x) -- no joy. Is there a way to deduplicate? Thanks and regards - Paul

Importing Records- Items records not displaying
by amutsikiwa 12 Jan '12

12 Jan '12

Hi I have imported records from an excel file and got the following summary results: Stage MARC Records For Import MARC Staging results : * 59514 records in file * 0 records not staged because of MARC error * 59514 records staged * Did not check for matches with existing records in catalog * 406248 item records found and staged I went on to import the records. I then rebuild the index by running: /usr/share/koha/bin/migration_tools/rebuild_zebra.pl -b -w -v However, when I search for a particular item, I only find it in "Biblios in reservoir" . When I search the item table, there are over 40 000 records. What should I do to see the item records? Error in importing MARC record
by Tiago Murakami 11 Jan '12

11 Jan '12

Hi, I installed Koha 3.6.0 in a Ubuntu Server 11.10. Everithing works. I create a Marc file of our previous system and imported ~86.000 records using Tools > Stage MARC records for import and Staged MARC record management. It's work. Then, I did not find the option to hide results in OPAC with no items. This option still exists? Then I export in MARC... clean the database and import again using Stage MARC records. But I did not Import with Staged MARC record management. This records are in the reservoir. I go to Cataloging > Search. I found a record in reservoir, but when I click in "Add biblio", I found this error: *Software error: All arguments must be MARC::Field objects at /usr/share/koha/intranet/cgi-bin/cataloguing/addbiblio.pl line 150* Can anyone help me? Thanks -- Tiago Murakami Biblioteca Pública Municipal Manuel Bandeira São Bernardo do Campo - SP - Brasil
