3.4.x Branch and 3.4.8 Release Update
by Chris Nighswonger 21 Jan '12

21 Jan '12

Hi All, I've just had time to bring the 3.4.x branch current with master. We will be releasing 3.4.8 next Saturday. There are a huge number of commits made in the last 8 hours, so I'd like to call for some testing on 3.4.x before the release next Saturday just to avoid any obvious bugs. So if you have a chance to, please test and let me know if you discover anything. Kind Regards, Chris

Holds/Transfer Limit Question
by Nicole Engard 20 Jan '12

20 Jan '12

I got this question today from a library about to go live with Koha and I'm not exactly sure how to answer it. "Our system is a collection of four sites. One of them (Library A) has a severe restriction: Books from its collection cannot be transferred to the other sites. They can be put on hold by patrons at any of the branches, but must be picked up at Library A." Is this possible? Will the Library Transfer Limits do this? I'm thinking that if holds are allowed there is no way that they can stop the transferring, but I could be wrong and would love to hear from any of you who are using Library Transfer Limits or some such similar feature/rule. Thanks a bunch, Nicole C. Engard

Koha - Reservas
by Adalid Ortiz 19 Jan '12

19 Jan '12

Saludos. Patrons blocked after turning in overdues
by Jim Maroon 19 Jan '12

19 Jan '12

At some point we turned on a setting that apparently punishes patrons for having had overdue items. Depending on the severity of the overdue, it blocks them for X number of days, and staff have no way overriding it. This is for patrons who have already turned in the overdue items and do not have or have already paid fines. Where is this setting and how do I turn it off? Thanks. --Jim -- ================================================== "The man, who, by his own and his family's labour, can provide a sufficiency of food and raiment and a comfortable dwelling place, is not a poor man." --William Cobbett, *Cottage Economy*, 1826.

Acquisitions questions regarding invoicing in Koha version 3.6
by McElroy, Maureen 19 Jan '12

19 Jan '12

To the collective brain..... Our library system is new to Koha. We've recently migrated to version 3.6 and are trying to organize/set up our acquisitions workflow. Is it possible to invoice in Koha? (Create an invoice; charge received orders to the invoice; pay the invoice, charging down related funds.) Is it possible to print out some sort of invoice summary or voucher listing the subtotals of each account charged down, within an invoice? How would we include shipping charges and processing charges in an invoice? Any info. would be greatly appreciated! Maureen McElroy Manager Technical Services Dept. Two odd, possibly connected behaviors from Koha...syssasdasd
by Andrew 18 Jan '12

18 Jan '12

Hi All, Here's the deal: We are currently running Koha 3.0 on Debian 4.0.1 served to various buildings via Fiber Channel on our LAN. The first problem is a lag in search and query functions performed by several of our librarians located in a building across the street. The problem seems to be localised to them, and I see no identifiable issues with the network itself, of their exterior Internet connection - browsing outside of Koha is snappy and "normal". I want to assume that this problem is purely a physical connection issue with the fiber channel of the switches, but I wanted to explore other possibilities that it might be something else specific to Koha. I'm new to administering Koha, though I've used it for queries and searched for two years. The second problem is a possible result of a Global Update that was performed just before I started at this position. After the update several catalogue entries literally "went missing" when searches were performed, only to turn up gradually over the course of three days. there are also several duplicated entries, fully functional and searchable via MARC,etc.. All of the errors to records seem to have occurred to the records that were being entered into Koha during the actual time period of the Global Update, and don't appear to be propagating across the database. Could this simply be fixed by updating the MARC records and initiate index updates? I can try things out in a sandbox environment if I need to, but I'm being very careful so not to amplify a small problem into something that might take our OPAC down for a full day or two. In my opinion our copy of Koha is stable and usable, but I'd like to come up with a solution as fast as I can to eliminate the duplicates. Ideas? Thanks

Re: [Koha] Stop SOPA web page looping back to itself

At 08:20 AM 1/18/2012 -0600, you wrote: >I'm not having any problems clicking through to the site this morning. Our cataloguers are also complaining that the <<http://koha-community.org/>http://koha-community.org/> is unavailable despite clicking the "original site" button -- they use the manual from NZ, rather than a local copy. I have double checked, and cannot get in myself (FF 8.0.1) to <koha-community.org/documentation/> or <koha-community.org/koha-3-6-1/> -- I just get to the "politics of the USA" page. Politics notwithstanding - could we please, please, pretty please, go back to supporting open source software?
