I'm interested in hearing from anyone using Koha in an online (only) library. The whole concept of circulation (patrons, # of copies, due dates, holds, availability, fines, etc.) isn't relevant to us, and 1-click access to full text from the search results page is essential. Being able to limit searches to particular subsets (or to exclude particular subsets) is also important to us. We're starting to explore open-source options for replacing our current ILS. Is anyone using Koha in this kind of environment? What kinds of customization did you do initially, and how much on-going work are you finding it takes to keep up with upgrades? What other ILS/OPACs did you consider before choosing Koha , and what made you go with Koha ? Thanks for any insights you can give. Updating ebook records in Koha - what happens to adjusted biblio records?

My library subscribes to Books24x7 and Safari Books online. When I update my collection to have the latest book records from these providers, I assume I should REVERT the last batch input and IMPORT the latest records. If I took an existing Safari biblio record and added a print (second copy) to this existing record, would the print item (second copy) and biblio record disappear when I REVERT the Safari record, or would the biblio and item record remain for the one print copy? Let me know .. I do not want to start the updating process without understanding its impact to revert and import updates.

The Picture Box

Does any public library use the "picture" option? We have been contemplating it for some time now. Questions...do you use it for teens adults or kids only? Does the picture go away when the patron is deleted (i.e. is the picture connected to the patron file)? Have any privacy issues arisen? Patron card number auto-increment no longer working for alphanumeric entries

In an older Koha version (3.00.00.107) the alphanumeric entries would increment by one when a new patron record was added. For example, if the last patron entered had a card number of DLIS07313, then the new patron record would be filled in with DLIS0714. Now in Koha v3.06.02.003, the cardnumber is auto-filled only with pure integer numbers starting with 1, 2, 3, etc... ignoring the existing alphanumeric entries entirely. Was this a design change or is there something I can do to change the auto-increment pattern to ignore the pre-pended alpha chars and increment the numeric suffix, like it did in v3.0.0? [Discussion tech] Generalise the use Template Toolkit plugins

I've started another discussion page: http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Generalise_the_use_Template_Toolkit_plu… Chris_c recently has added a plugin to manage the display of dates into Koha (see http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Coding_Guidelines#Displaying_dates) that is very interesting. Do we want to generalise this mechanism ? When do we want to use it ? For example, the patch for bug http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=4078 could nicely use this mechanism let's start the discussion ! (reading the page and the possible solutions, you'll see I made 2, but am not happy with them. Paul, seems you are using two queries (";" delimits queries). If I'm not wrong, you can use SELECT items.biblionumber,items.barcode,items.dateaccessioned, ExtractValue(biblioitems.marcxml,'//datafield[@tag="952"]/subfield[@code="x"]') AS ITEM FROM biblioitems LEFT JOIN items ON (items.biblioitemnumber=biblioitems.biblioitemnumber) LEFT JOIN biblio ON (biblioitems.biblionumber=biblio.biblionumber) ORDER BY items.biblionumber ASC It works on my Koha 3.2.7 (Mysql 5.1.49). Also see @code="x", instead of @code>="x". Using ">=x" will extract subfields x,y,z... HTH.
