Retrieving 10-digit ISBNs in a report
by Cab Vinton 15 Mar '12

15 Mar '12

OK, this got no responses on the Koha developers list :-(, so trying here -- For the purposes of creating a web-based carousel of book covers for our recent acquisitions, I'd like to run a report that generates a list of ISBNs of items added between 2 dates. Amazon, & therefore Koha, rely on 10-digit ISBNs for book cover retrieval. However, when I run a report using biblioitems.isbn, this is the output I get. Many truncated ISBNs, presumably because of the max length = 30 restriction for this particular field. 9780425243244 (pbk.) | 0425243 9780307718099 | 0307718093 0804840288 | 9780804840286 (tr 9780811876377 : | 0811876373 : 1569244677 9781400064588 (acidfree paper) 9780061429255 | 0061429252 9781451661064 (hardcover) | 14 Is there a way to run a report that outputs only the 10 digit ISBNs? Many thanks, Cab Vinton, Director Sanbornton Public Library Sanbornton, NH

Problem: non-latin characters (Arabic, Chinese, etc)
by Stefano Barale 15 Mar '12

15 Mar '12

Hello again everybody, after some struggle I finally succeeded installing Koha, configuring it and working with English records using MARC21. All under both Ubuntu 10.10 and 11.04. Now my problem is that my records will be 99% in Arabic. Thanks to the help of many of you I found this valuable past message that outlines the steps for installing Chinese charsets. But this did not solve my problem 'cause: > For this: > * install ICU (unicode library from IBM) > * activate it by editing default.idx file, and : > comment this line: > #charmap word-phrase-utf.chr > add this line: > icuchain icu.xml > > Your icu.xml should look like this: > <icu_chain locale="fr-FR"> > <transliterate rule="\'>\ "/> > <transliterate rule="[:Number:] { '-'> '' "/> > <transform rule="[:Control:] Any-Remove"/> > <tokenize rule="l"/> > <transform rule="[[:WhiteSpace:][:Punctuation:]] Remove"/> > <transform rule="NFD"/> > <transform rule="[:Nonspacing Mark:] Remove"/> > <transform rule="NFC"/> > <display/> > <casemap rule="l"/> > </icu_chain> 1) Install ICU. What debian package provides ICU? Is it this? i libicu42 4.2.1-3ubuntu0.10.10.1 International Components for Unicode ii yaz-icu 4.2.25-1indexdata ICU utility for the Z39.50 toolkit or am I missing something, maybe? 2) defatult.idx: is the one under /etc/koha/zebradb/etc? 3) I'm unsure about the meaning AND location of the icu.xml file. Should it be placed under /etc/koha/zebradb/etc as well? What should contain in the case of Arabic? I suppose that the tranform rules will not be the same as French... does anybody have a template for Arabic? 4) after all these aspects will be fixed, how do I make myself sure that everything works fine? Best! Stefano

Chinese language code
by Anthony Mao 15 Mar '12

15 Mar '12

Thanks for your kind help. Chinese, simplified and traditional, translation have great improvement. There is one question about Chinese language code. Can I suggest using zh-Hant-TW for Chinese written using the Traditional Chinese script at Taiwan. According http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc5646.txt Quote few paragraph for you from above page: Language subtag plus Script subtag: zh-Hant (Chinese written using the Traditional Chinese script) zh-Hans (Chinese written using the Simplified Chinese script) hus, "zh-Hant-TW" is more specific than "zh-Hant". Language-Script-Region: zh-Hans-CN (Chinese written using the Simplified script as used in mainland China) -- Wishing you all the best. . . . Re: [Koha] Deleted authorities

This is a reply to... myself :-) On Thu, 26 Jan 2012 16:22:39 +0100 I wrote: > Hi, > I'm looking for a way to trace deleted authorities. > A table for biblio is deletedbiblioitems, but I found no deletedauth_header or something similar for auth records. > I only need the auth_id. > Any idea? > Thanks. SQL statement
by Rachel Hollis 13 Mar '12

13 Mar '12

Greetings friends, I have two SQL statements that I would like to combine but I don't know SQL well enough to do it myself. Could someone help me? I want to get a list of titles (245a and 245b), authors, and call number along with home-branch and library location. Below is what I have, probably from the wiki: SELECT concat(b.title, ' ', ExtractValue(( SELECT marcxml FROM biblioitems b2 WHERE b.biblionumber = b2.biblionumber), '//datafield[@tag="245"]/subfield[@code="b"]')) AS title, b.author, i.itemcallnumber FROM biblio b LEFT JOIN items i ON (i.biblionumber=b.biblionumber) And from another report: WHERE items.homebranch=<<homebranch|branches>> AND items.location='LIB' Copy and paste didn't work for me. ;-) Rachel Hollis, librarian Stevens-Henager College, Boise & Nampa Idaho ________________________________ This message is for the designated recipient only and may contain privileged, proprietary, or otherwise private information. Redirect loop in intranet at initial Koha install/setup
by jcoehoorn 12 Mar '12

12 Mar '12

I'm a first time Koha user working through the instructions found here to get Koha 3.06.04 running on Cent OS 6.2: http://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Koha_3.6_on_Centos_6.2_i386 I'm using CentOS because this needs to run under Hyper-V. I don't have a whole lot of linux experience. In spite of that, I've made it through the instructions and have things *almost* running. Almost. What happens is that when I try to visit the administration page (the final line in the instructions) I get stuck in an http redirect loop. Koha's normal/opac side of course shows that the site is in maintenance mode, as I would expect prior to installation. I had to troubleshoot a number of other issues to get that far, but I updated the instruction wiki as I went, so someone else following that guide should end up in about the same place I did. Searching around the web (including but not limited to this list), the closest thing I could find is this post: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/web-installer-fix-amp-new-feature-tt30650… Reading that, I looked for a <kohaversion> element in /etc/koha/koha-conf.xml. I couldn't find one, and I'm not sure where it should go or what the contents of the element should be. There was a section at the end that looked promising, but adding the element there with only the version number for the contents hasn't helped. The tail of my install log in /usr/share/koha/misc/ looks like this: INSTALL_BASE=/usr/share/koha INSTALL_ZEBRA=yes INSTALL_SRU=yes INSTALL_PAZPAR2=no AUTH_INDEX_MODE=dom RUN_DATABASE_TESTS=no PATH_TO_ZEBRA= USE_MEMCACHED=no MEMCACHED_SERVERS= MEMCACHED_NAMESPACE= The tail of my /var/log/koha/koha-error_log looks like this: [Mon Mar 12 16:56:02 2012] [error] [client 10.1.2.103] [Mon Mar 12 16:56:02 2012] 500.pl: DBD::mysql::st execute failed: Table 'koha.language_descriptions' doesn't exist at /usr/share/koha/lib/C4/Languages.pm line 352.
