Upgrade from 3.2 to 3.6 problem with remove_items_from_biblioitems.pl --run

Hi. I'm trying to upgrade from version 3.02.10 to 3.6.3. Everything is ok, no perl dependencies. When I start *misc/maintenance/remove_items_from_biblioitems.pl --run* I get this error: *Use of uninitialized value $cn_item in concatenation (.) or string at /etc/perl/C4/ClassSortRoutine.pm line 119* Am I missing something? Recently, I requested guidance on the inclusion of 952$x into a MySQL "Report". My thanks to all who responded. The results are a report for Tax Receipting purposes; I realize that this is specific to charities that receive donations of books from their sponsors, but it might prove adaptable to others wishing to follow book vendors ... This error is now gone :-). This time I didn't drop and re-create koha database on the fresh machine. I imported 3.02's mydatadump.sql on top of existing 3.06.3's new database. I suspect " --ignore-table koha.sessions" bit might be the reason for the above error. I also used a different browser after importing the database. Maybe this part helped to fix the error. Hi, I tried upgrading database created under Koha version 3.02.00.004 to version 3.06.3 and I get the following errors. Signing On

Greetings. As suggested in the list's welcome message, I am introducing myself as a new subscriber to the list. My name is Steve Campbell, and I am a trustee of the Converse Free Library in Lyme, New Hampshire, in the US. We are a small public library: about 1,400 patrons and 25,000 items in our catalog. We have a full-time director, two part-time assistants, and a couple dozen volunteers. We also host the school library for our town's K-8 public school. We are open 6 days a week for a total of 36 hours per week. We are in the process of migrating from InfoCentre, hosted on our own server, to Koha 3.6.2, hosted by Bywater Solutions. We are currently learning Koha on a test system set up by Bywater. We plan to go live in June. My own background is in Unix computer system administration and network management. I retired a few years ago. I am a believer in the principals of open source. I do not have a background in library science (but I'm learning!). In addition to my normal duties as a trustee, I spend a lot of time at the library managing the eight public computers (we pay a Windows professional to support the server and staff desktops), troubleshooting any computer or network problems, and generally being the available to answer questions. During the migration to Koha, I have been busy learning the system and helping the staff explore and configure it for our needs. I look forward to contributing to this community when I can and asking for help when I must. Steve

Aman, Thanks, that's helpful. I hadn't thought about the idea of using digital repository software. Our records all start out in MARC - we've got about 90000 books, 6000 dissertations/theses, and a handful of other stuff, but definitely bibliographic records to resources hosted elsewhere (ebrary, ProQuest, EBSCO, etc.) rather than locally hosted content. We do original cataloging and host the undergraduate- and masters- level theses, but that's a small percentage. But I do think it might be helpful for us to look outside the ILS box. You have two options, 1. You can use a ILS like KOHA with MARC21 field 856 to provide a link to the electronic content so that when a user clicks it the electronic document will open. I managed managed a big project (9.5 hundard thousand press clippings for JNU, New Delhi) on VTLS product Virtua when I worked for the company. I have checked it on KOHA also and it works the same way and works fine. The drawback is you have to catalogue every document/resource in MARC21(which is a tedious job compared to DC) and have to upload each file to the server (for which you may need the help from either the Administrator or a developer who will have to create a system for you to upload files) and then input the link to the file at field 856. The plus point is KOHA will meet more or less your advanced search requirements. 2. The second option is you can use a repository management software like dspace, greenstone or fedora etc. These specialize in creating and managing digital repositories. They use DC for metadata. They allow you to upload the electronic files in many different formats directly without any help from the administrator or developers. We have a repository running on Dspace available at http://www.egyankosh.ac.in. Another option can be using some CMS but that will take a lots of customization and hard work and won't be required if you are not intending to create some fancy stuff. Keep in mind your budget, the volume of your collection and the kind of user you are expecting before making any decision. Best of Luck. 3.6.2 - System preferences cannot be updated

I'm running into a problem with changing System Preferences values. When I attempt to make a change, I get these errors in the message log Message Log * Error; your data might not have been saved * You need to log in again, your session has timed out The session has not actually timed out as I can continue to go to other screens and navigate the Staff Client. I've checked permissions on files and database access and these are not a problem. Does anyone have an idea on what might be happening? Anyone else seen such problems? I'm seeing this on two different instances of 3.6.2.
