Koha & PowerSchool updating patron records
Greetings, I have been asked by the Librarians in our District if we can automate the PowerSchool data to go into Koha directly. I have been in touch with Koha and it seems to be a bit of a complex process. I have Auto Send working with other databases (AlertNow, SNAP, MealTime) but this one seems a bit more complex. Is there anyone out there that has Auto Send working with the Koha Database? Did you have to make header changes to match Koha or in Koha match PowerSchool? Thanks for your time! Sue

I assume by "in touch with Koha" you mean you have been in touch with your support company, PTFS/Liblime? They're the ones you are going to have to go through in order to make this possible because the software you're running is their non-open fork of Koha. If I've made the wrong assumptions please let us know. -- Owen -- Web Developer Athens County Public Libraries http://www.myacpl.org

Yes, we have discussed this, and the question isn't really on the Koha end. It's how to automate the export of data from PowerSchool with appropriate headers so that it can match up with Koha field names. The two sticking points are branchcode and patron category; there is presently no direct equivalent data coming from PowerSchool to match Koha. They are looking for any other sites using PowerSchool and Koha, to share ideas. The version of Koha being used is irrelevant in this context. The version is relevant because they're using software which is supported by only one company in the world: PTFS/Liblime. If they want something done with their software in its current state, they only have one choice: Talk to you guys. It's perfectly valid to raise the question on this list, "Can Koha, in one of it's current [free/open source] versions, support this feature?" And of course it's appropriate to ask, "Could Koha be modified to support this feature?" But the answers to this particular person's questions would have to be framed in terms of "If you want to switch support companies..." -- Owen -- Web Developer Athens County Public Libraries http://www.myacpl.org
